Z-Ultimate Self Defense Studios: what do users think?

Teresa Johnson: Sensei Ben is a great teacher! My kids and I enjoy learning from him.

C. Howard: Excellent self defense school! Our 7yo daughter can’t wait for her next class. She has been enrolled for 8 months. The instructors are really good and teach the kids to be respectful, focused and work hard. I highly recommend this studio for families who want to have their kids in a routine, learn respect and gain confidence in a fun way.

Michele Lloyd: I’ve been with Z-Ultimate around 4 years now. I’d been interested in martial arts since I was a kid, but I thought classes would be full of tough guys, and the teachers would be like drill sergeants, and it would be oh-so-serious. That image put me off. Then I found Z-Ultimate in Edina. The adult classes have students from a wide range of ages and abilities, and Ben Thomas is a gentle, encouraging teacher. We laugh a lot in class while learning effective techniques for defending ourselves. If you have been interested in the martial arts but have felt worried or intimidated by what you thought it was about, try Z-Ultimate. Martial arts will build your strength and confidence. And parents: Ben is amazing with the children.

Brian Jensen: sensei ben is great with our child who has learning differences. we've seen our son learn to pay much better attention at karate!

April Pream: son. I have never seen anyone so good at connecting with these kids. He has a gift. I tell everyone about Z-Ultimate. Best!

Cassidy Steiner: My kids love their lessons. Sensei Ben is so much fun, and such an effective teacher.

Joseph McKenna: I signed up for martial arts and self defense. I am extremely pleased. Great for fitness too. Master Ben is fast paced and an inspiration. 3 group classes a week that are fun and highly engaging. Plus indiviual lessons to keep improving your skill and fitness. Everyone should do this!

Josh John: Came to an introduction course with my fiancé’s coworkers. Fun to get exposure to different body relationships that I wouldn’t have considered a potential asset. Ben was great and I quickly found that the more I asked, the more value I got out of the team.ASK QUESTIONS and watch all the value start pouring out! Will definitely come again and take a more long term membership.

Danny Faye: Best gym around. International presence. World renowned teachers and staff.

MOTO MUERTE: Great inclusive gym with one on one coaching option. Started here with no experience and have had a great time. The instructors are great and classes move along at a good pace. The classes develop in complexity over the course of the month and I would advise starting early in the month and consistently getting to a class.

Chris Smith: Best place to train for Muay Thai in the city. Highly recommended.

Sarah Davis: My daughter takes their youth classes and is absolutely beaming and excited after every hour spent with their instructors. Joe, Tim, and Kyle are truly wonderful humans who have found a perfect balance between instructing, inspiring, encouraging discipline and excellence but injecting the air with humor and kindness. We are transplants to the area and coming from LA I can say this type of environment for kids to learn about themselves, be in their bodies, and connect is a rare thing. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the other folks taking adult classes and as mentioned the amazing instructors are just an absolute joy to be around. Good vibes abound. These people will bring a smile to your face and inspire you and your family.

Emily Taege: Great place for your child to learn Karate. Love the owner and the staff at this establishment. They are great with kids, very encouraging, but also good at teaching other skills -- not just Karate. Discipline, respect, and determination. Very solid program with the tangible "rewards" -- getting those stripes on your belt are very impactful for encouraging my son to keep going. Due to COVID-19, they also converted all of their lessons to Zoom if you need it which is FANTASTIC, because now we can still attend if we are traveling or not feeling 100%. Love it! You should enroll your kids here.

Melissa Hoo: Amazing school! Great instructors, very knowledgeable. It is a great experience for adults that want to learn to defend themselves. I will be coming here for a long time for both karate and krav maga.

The Academy MN: what do users think?

Andrew Thomas: I've been going to The Academy for almost 10 years now! I would still be there but I have opened a Muay Thai/kickboxing gym in another country. This is by far the best Martial arts gym I've been too! I'm a bit biased because they have such a strong community that I was a part of. Even today being a world away, the coaches still keep in contact with me.It doesn't matter if you are going for fitness, Martial arts and/or to be a fighter. You will learn proper technique from world class coaches! They are very supportive in whatever path you choose. The biggest reason I felt it was necessary to open my own martial arts gym, was to bring this community to other people. It's not easy to recreate what the academy has. They are definitely very special. Thanks for the years of training and teachings I could not have done this without all I learned at The Academy. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Dakotah Love: This place has changed my life, the coaches my training partners, everything good vibes, real skills, awesome fights, God only knows where I'd be without this place. Genuinely saved my life.

Karina Higareda: Dedicated, Honorable & Humble, these are my favorite words to describe this training facility. My now 16 yr old has been training at this top notch, top quality coaching studio for over a year and hands down they’ve never let us down & have impressed my son and I with their skilled training & dedicated coaching. I highly recommend & encourage people looking to level up their game to train here, you will not be disappointed. Keep up the excellent work!

Pámela Boveda Aguirre: I had the chance to train a nogi class here today, and I loved the place, the environment, the facility is super clean and confortable! you have a lot of different options in their schedule! and they have worked with many pro athletes! I had a great experience and recommend the place for sure! Also the level of the girls that train there is very good, bjj competitors with a lot of experience.

Keith Burnham: Very good training for adults and children. Coaching is talented and robust. My 16 year old son's life has been transformed in just 4 weeks at this school. He is just a beginner, but his habits and life trajectory have been impacted in an unbelievable way. More than the trophies and belts on the wall..... this experience will last a lifetime.

Sam Guinan-Nyhart: Excellent training center. Friendly, welcoming and skilled! I dropped in over the holidays and spent a great couple hours here.

Chase Taylor: Great place. Employees are very welcoming and encouraging to get people involved. Definitely a community you would like to be a part of

Andrew Vuong: Great environment and classes!

Darrick Mattox: My daughter loves it and so do we

Cella Westray: Dropped in visiting in town and looking for a place to practice. The coaches seem top-notch and extremely knowledgeable. It’s a great community they have here--not only welcoming but also somewhere to push each other to get better, which I always appreciate! Thanks again for welcoming me, I will definitely be coming back if I ever move back to the Twin Cities area!

Tanner Martinson: Top of the line facility. Not only that but top of the line coaches and training partners as well. Great environment.

Frederick Frederickson: Large multi-disciplinary training center with an equipped gym as well.

Christopher Foecke: Good variety of styles and skill levels

Isaiah Nolan: I been to gyms all over the United States for the past 10 years and the Academy is the best of the best. Super knowledgeable instructors, clean environment, and a great community of kind and accepting students.

Russell Martinez: he coaches are very knowledgeable and staff is helpful! I like how it’s a month to month membership and not long contract!

Pedro Mosquera: The best experience you have to know among all, without a doubt, knowing and belonging to this wonderful and excellent martial arts academy.A fully equipped space to develop your potential and acquire skills. The highly qualified staff with an excellent human touch make the experience even more enjoyable. With the best motto, that if you assume it as part of your life, you will be the best version of yourself every day.OPERA NON VERBA.

Steve Henry: The Academy is an extremely impressive training facility. As a 37 year old construction worker I deal will general soreness on a regular basis. After working out here for less than two months I have lost 20 pounds, eliminated what I thought was chronic hip pain, and discovered the will power to break a decade long smoking habit. The heath benefits of training martial arts are undeniable and The Academy allows you to learn from extremely legit martial artists NO MATTER YOUR SKILL OR FITNESS LEVEL. I can’t thank head coach Greg Nelson and his team enough, 10/10 would recommend.

It is clear that they truly have a passion for teaching from how they conduct themselves and deal with everyone around them. Fabian Ferrada: I’ve had an opportunity to train in a lot of dojos over the last 16 years and Southland BJJ definitely has a great environment and culture. Felt safe with everyone and had an opportunity to train with some of the colored belts. Very respectful and overall great people. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking to drop in for a class.

Nicole Santolalla: Southside is an outstanding bjj academy. Everyone is very welcoming and Coaches are extremley knowledgable and focus on helping each student with their individual needs. The professors meet the students where they are at and have real grasp on how to teach the techniques for the students. I’ve practiced a variety of martial arts at a few places, their approach to jujitsu seems to be pretty progressive and very well thought out

Eben gardner: Great gym! He's very flexible with what you need and everyone is very friendly. There's a wide range of skill at this gym so it's a great place for anyone looking to continue or start their training. If you can't afford the rates, talk to him about it. He'll work with ya! Good luck!

Joseph Dasuki: Authentic people, chill vibes, tough competitors 🤙, everything that matters for a great bjj gym is here

Fatima A: This is an excellent Jiu jitsu gym, I highly recommend it to other parents. My son attended and received stellar training. He was new to the sport and timid, and I always felt he was in the best of hands, both cared for and always challenged to get even better. The instructors are skilled, patient, and provide the kids with plenty of opportunity to learn and practice together. The membership is very competitive and location is convenient. We had nothing but great experiences here, no reservations at all.

Ibsa Barisa: Joining Southside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy has been a transformative experience for me. Professor Enrique, the head instructor, is not only an outstanding tactician but also a highly skilled. His passion for the art is contagious, and under his watchful eye, I have learned the importance of perfecting my techniques and embracing the values of discipline, resilience, and respect. What sets Professor Enrique apart is his ability to break down complex moves into digestible steps tailored to each student's level. He has always been open to my questions and provides detailed responses that have deepened my understanding of Jiu-Jitsu. His unwavering commitment to my progress has made me feel competent in my skills and confident in my ability to apply them during rolls and future competitions. In addition to Professor Enrique, other instructors, like Professor Adrian Ricci, and higher belt students like Nik and Tim have been incredibly helpful and encouraging. Their collective expertise creates a well-rounded learning experience that fosters growth and development. The gym itself is clean and well-maintained, and I've found a supportive and motivated community in my fellow practitioners. Southside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy flexible scheduling with classes in the morning, midday, and evenings, has made it easy for me to fit training into my busy life. I can't imagine a better environment to learn and grow in the art of Jiu-Jitsu, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to train under Professor Enrique and the rest of the talented team.

Joe & Dorota Kearney: I dropped in for a class while I was in town for work. It’s a great atmosphere with high level black belt instruction, and everyone was very welcoming and friendly. I will certainly return when I’m back in town!

World Martial Arts Center: what do users think?

Stephen Tannen: Our family cannot recommend WMAC enough. The Sa Bo Nyms are firm, fair AND fun. The gender diversity is the highest of any dojang Ive visited in 30 years. Students can learn TKD, Hapkido or Kung Fu. It’s been a wonderful for our kiddos self esteem. Me? OEF USASOC Veteran and former Ranger.

Robert Ribciuc: Great program to instill self confidence, values and a growth mindset. Good mix of male and female students sends a good message that self defense and fitness are everyone’s business and further builds up confidence. Parking occasionally requires resourcefulness but there are additional paid lots and street parking nearby.

Jason Bain: I recently attended a trial for World Martial Arts Song Moo Kwan Hapkido Program. I have been a Hapkido student for several years and was very impressed with this program. First off I must say this is the most beautiful well thought out Martial Arts facility that I have ever been to.The school has a rich history and the Instructor Master Pat Carey is excellent and knowledgeable in both Hapkido and Taekwondo. The entire organization is very courteous and welcoming both students and Instructors. It can be difficult to find a Dojang teaching true and pure Hapkido that is not hybridized with Taekwondo but the school does a great job of keeping the two arts separate. I highly recommend anyone interested in an Excellent traditional Martial Arts program give World Martial Arts a try.

Thomas McDermott: I arrived at the The World Martial Arts Center with high expectations and yet somehow it has managed to exceed all of them. Here you will get World-Class instruction from individuals with decades of experience in martial arts. It is without a doubt the premier martial arts facility in the state of Minnesota. The World Martial Arts Center also has incredible history. Its Grandmaster Hee Sang Ro is an 9th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo and is the son of the founder of Taekwondo, Byung Jick Ro.Whatever reason you have for being interested in martial arts, whether it be self-defense, physical fitness, confidence, discipline, self-control, spirituality, etc, I encourage you to go stop by and watch a class. You will not regret it.WMC is the best deal in town price-wise. There are no contracts or long term commitments and there is free parking on the streets behind the Dojang.Thank you to Master Steve, Master Carey and everyone at the World Martial Arts Center for helping me change my life.

Flow_Amv (Luis Angel): Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI started about 3 months ago and it has helped me a lot. I do Taekwondo and after almost 2 months of training my legs got bigger. I was surprised that almost all my jeans didn’t fit me 😂. The school is great, classes really do work you and instructors are understanding.

Chris Salscheider: This is the best martial arts school ever anyone who says otherwise is not human

Kingabdi Jansb: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,Value

Coffee Cup: I stopped in because I'm new to the neighborhood. I was really impressed with the training as I watched as a guest. The owner greeted me and told me just how cheap the monthly rate was. I'm definitely planning on starting within the next month. I recommend others at least stop in.

Alex Cera: One of the best in the state.

GloriousSun250: I like this school for everything they give me from self-defense to form, but not the sparring, which is really important to me. There's no-contact point sparring and the free sparring is limiting. Otherwise this school's great!

Paul Schrater: Excellent instructors that actualize your potential. Great people, inclusive supportive and dedicated.

Rick Martinek: I took class there 1976 to 1983 and have enjoyed many of the finest instructors over those years. I'm glad to be returning next week after my Chaska branch closed down. Grandmaster Hee Sang Ro is the best in the business. Coming from Korea in 1976, Grandmaster Hee Ro took over the operation of the school and changed the name from Karate Center to World Martial Arts Center. In 2005, Mr. Patrick Carey and Steve Wankewycz joined Grandmaster Ro in the operation of the World Martial Arts Center. If you are looking for one of the best - visit this school.

Christina Super: individual attention, fantastic instructors. I have an existing back and hip issue, and they modified exercises for me! They even called when I missed 2 classes due to my hip bothering me, sounding concerned for me. I truly hope to go back and continue my training!

Aleks Till: I have been attending World Martial Arts Center since 1999. The school has the utmost concern for the well-being of students, and has a holistic and energetic approach to teaching martial arts. Its motto is: With enthusiasm and perseverance, nothing is impossible.Grandmaster Ro, who founded the school, still teaches there. It is extremely rare and is a privilege to have such an experienced martial arts instructor. This is someone who did not decide to teach taekwondo, but rather was raised to become this. His father founded one of the original taekwondo schools in Korea, and he has been training since he was a little boy. He understands anatomy, physiology, and the fosters the human potential for respect, confidence, discipline and focus. All of the other instructors at the school share an equal passion for learning and teaching. They each bring their own unique areas of expertise to the classroom, and make classes engaging and challenging. I always feel like I have more to learn, and reasons to feel good about my accomplishments so far.I never hesitate to recommend this school. If you are interested in learning martial arts from an authentic school, with instructors who are humble, knowledgeable and constantly bringing insight and new learnings to the class, then you will want to try World Martial Arts Center.

Alliance Jiu-Jitsu: what do users think?

Kelsey Briann Faddler: We have tried out several different martial arts gyms and couldnt really find one that fit. My son, daughter and nephew joined Alliance several months ago. I am a people watcher and observer. I have watched these coaches plant so many seeds for success, confidence, and just an all around wholesome experience into so many individuals in the gym and their families. Everyone has been very kind and welcoming. The head coach and his wife are really awesome people, along with all the coaches. My son has become so much more confident, he loves this gym. His demeanor has changed in such a positive way. We are very grateful we found this place, it definitely fits for us.

Kellen Kersten: Awesome people. Awesome instruction. I have had a great experience starting my Jiu Jitsu journey here.

Nehemiah White: Was in town for business and dropped in to join the evening instruction. Excellent instruction and great rolling experience. Thanks Coach Damian and Coach Danny!

Will Sharpe: Signing my son up for jiu jitsu here is easily one of the best parenting decisions I’ve ever made. Incredible teachers and a fantastic community of kids and parents!

Robert Wales: I go to Minneapolis several times a year for work and I have visited Alliance several times, for gi and no-gi classes. The gym is clean, the atmosphere is great, and the instructors are top notch!

Anthony DeRosier: Damian is an amazing teacher and everyone I've met has been so friendly! Overall an incredible place to learn and workout, highly recommend it.

Mark: This place is awesome! Damian is a top notch, passionate instructor who also happens to have a great resume as a competitor! All the other instructors have just as much passion and the welcoming, family environment is great for any level of practitioner! Whether a beginner just looking to learn, or a competitor looking to be a champion, there is no better place to train in the area!!!

Billy: While visiting from another state I was shown amazing hospitality and instruction. Welcoming and skillful students. Clear and concise instruction. Cannot recommend this school highly enough.

lucas wilcox: Positive:Communication,Professionalism

Ben Craig: I was in MN for work/family for a month and Alliance was the gym I went to. Damian made the 45 minute drives worth it. Very good fundamentals/instruction and all of the people I worked with gave me good tips. And Damian answered my million questions prior to arriving, so kudos to anyone who can deal with all the questions.Whenever I am back in town, this will be the spot. If you live here, definitely recommend it.

Charlie Johnson: Cathartic, meditative, great place to spend an hour in the afternoon with good people and tough training!

Carsten C: I have only been here a few months, I am a white belt, and am lucky enough to have started my jiu jitsu journey here. This gym is top notch, the instructors know what they are talking about, have the accolades to prove it, and are super friendly. Best gym in the twin cities, highly recommend training here!

The Cellar Gym: what do users think?

Nathan Johnson:

Suki Moen:

Gabriela Cole:

Kailey Everett: This has been my second home for the last several years! If you are having doubts just give it a try! We have all been there and it takes a lot of courage to try something new but it is so worth it! I started just because I wanted to find a way to exercise that was less boring than running on a treadmill and now, I am a part of the fight team and have rooted myself in an amazing community that has helped me not just physically but socially and emotionally. The coaches are amazing and willing to go out of their way and sacrifice their time to help you. They have a great kids program with amazing caring coaches. I don't know what I could do without this gym. Whether you want to join for mental or physical health reasons or compete at the highest level this is the gym for you!

Ken Tran: Recently, I completed the 6 week challenge, which gave me the motivation to come back and start attending classes again. For the challenge we were to attend kickboxing classes 3 times a week. Originally I was signed up for Muay Thai, as I found it to be an interesting art, but after the challenge, I found I enjoyed the kickboxing a lot and signed up for that instead.I was worried about finding time to attend, but they have so many classes on their schedule that I can always find a class that matches my schedule, no matter how much my schedule changes week to week. While I worked the fair, I was able to attend morning classes. When I went back to my normal work schedule they had a class almost every night of the week. The coaches are absolutely phenomenal. Being that there are so many classes, there are also a few coaches, and they all teach their classes differently, while still changing it up from class to class. Not only are you getting a satisfying workout, but you are getting a variety that promises you'll never get bored. As for the people, they are all very friendly. Although I attend classes alone, there is always somebody to practice with. Often we end up pairing up, and if you didn't bring a friend you'll have to make a new friend. I have not had one bad experience with all of the people I have worked with. As great as a place is, if the people aren't friendly, then it basically becomes a chore to attend. I actually find myself looking forward to attending classes and meeting new people.Overall, I would highly recommend taking a look at this gym. The classes are great and flexible; the coaches are knowledgeable and helpful; and the people are extremely friendly.UPDATE 9/4/19-11 months later and I still find myself getting excited to attend classes everyday. In fact, sometimes I dread holidays or vacations due to the classes I'd have to miss. I've started many hobbies and quit after a month or two because I was bored or just didn't feel like I belonged. Here I feel like everyone is so inclusive and welcoming.I've expanded from kickboxing and Muay Thai into Brazillian Jiu Jitsu and am loving it just as much as the other two. Unfortunately, this does mean I do have to cut back on one of the other two in order to participate, but that's what I get for wanting to try everything. One important thing to note is that The Cellar is not just for the combatants looking to get into the or improve their fighting prowess. Yes, if that is what you're looking for, this place is amazing, but for an average Joe, Jill or whoever, this is a good place to meet new friends and get in a fun workout.Update 1/10/2024-5 years later and still going! The gym has gone through some changes.- There is a new location in a much easier location within the Rosedale Commons. The space is much larger and gives us a ton of room to play in.- The new owners aren't new to the gym and have been part of the infrastructure for longer than I have been a member. They are doing an amazing job and have adapted to the post COVID world with some welcome changes- We have new coaches in the mix with the ones we have before and that has provided even more opportunity for all of us to learn and grow.I have been sticking to the "Average Joe" aspect of training. Although I have gone back to Muay Thai only, I am continuing to have a ton of fun while staying active. I still get to meet new people from all walks of life and learn from some of the most amazing people. I cannot recommend this gym enough.

Justin Anderson: I wanted to train Muay Thai for a while. I have completed my first five classes. The gym facility is exceptional. The classes are what I wanted: challenging! The coaches/trainers keep the class moving, are helpful and clear in their instructions. I did an initial trial membership which helped me determine if The Cellar would be a good fit. I appreciate there are a lot of different classes available at different times.

Peyton Krause: Nice people and awesome gym!

Joshua Hoekstra: First week here was amazing! Everyone is super friendly and made getting into something new very welcoming.

Aaron Sanders: Great gym , great people ,great experience couldn't recommend it enough! And wouldn't recommend something else.

lucio clasher: , and a great learning environment for anyone from beginner to pro. All the members ive talked to have been very nice and welcoming.

Golden Gloves Firehouse Gym: what do users think?

Tom Madden: Firehouse is a gem in the heart of Columbia Heights. Sean, Judy and the volunteer coaches are doing Gods work with all they do for the community. This is a special place for young men and women to have a positive outlet through sport.

MrPsakurets: John is the best trainer if you want to box well. I have been boxing since 2009 and had several trainers in different boxing clubs. John is the best. Unlike other gyms Firehouse has an actual boxing ring. You are no boxer if you have never been on the boxing ring.

Ty & Cassie Nosser: Firehouse is an amazing gym for all levels! The owners are wonderful and the atmosphere is top notch. It's a great place for adults to work out, professional fighters to train & for youth/kids to learn boxing skills. Check it out!

Whitney Haverstock: I'm going to try to lay out for you why this is the best boxing gym in Minnesota.#1. It does not smell like a boxing gym.Besides that the real draw is the staff. These boxing coaches know their stuff and the prices are very reasonable. Also, they happen to be semi professional level comedians. So picture this. You go in to this lavishly equipped gym, you get some exercise get some endorphins going, you're getting better, stronger, faster, more lethal. All the while some nice guy is teaching you exactly how to mete out justice while making you laugh.Literally what else do you want out of a boxing gym.Don't be a primmadonna, get your keister to Golden Gloves Firehouse Gym.Yeah it's in a firehouse which is even more neat

Bernadette Daniels: Great gym, and great people!

GILBERT MITCHELL: Are you still open?

John Urgo: Good stuff. 8 youths and 6 adults working out together at this friendly gym. Hitting it hard just before closing time.

Cassie Miller: Great gym, and great people! Everyone is very inviting! It is an easy place to learn and get an intense workout!

Luis Perez: Nice people

George Bouncer: Great GYM Great TrainersI know Great Trainer from this GYM many Thanks to Jason for been my corner at Ringside World championships fights. 🙏

Nicholas Johnson: considering there are three 1 hour classes a week. Also, they're not like a lot of gyms where they try to tie you into a year contract or anything like that. It's month by month so if for some reason your kid doesn't fall in love with it, you're not out hundreds of dollars. If you figure it out it's roughly $4 per hour of training.I highly recommend it.

Defensive Mindset Training: what do users think?

David J. Carter: I took, "Foundations Level Handgun Class" on March 18th, 2024. Beau was the instructor. I am a 77-year-old person with arthritis in both hands. The class was good but the instructor, Beau did not understand how hard it is for a person with arthritis to use one hand to operate the buttons, etc on a handgun. He just kept the pressure on me to do it properly. I had a very hard time getting my right thumb to push the button to drop the clip. He did not see that or help me with any other way to accomplish this task.

Samuel Henderson: This is hands down the best defecive training company in the Twin Cities. The CCW class was excellent. Beau and his team take the time to help you individually, no matter what skill level you are. This is the place to start if you're ready to take control of your personal safety.

D S: , I want to emphasize and highlight Defensive Mindset Training’s methods. Simply put, their methods are top of the line. The “before the fight - the fight - after the fight” practical training is, I believe, superior. It takes time and commitment, and is repetitious, which is necessary to be effective. I’ve been training with Beau and his excellent instructors, all of whom bring different perspectives, weekly for 1.5 years, and feel I can go so much further. You can go to a weekend warrior training, but to take in 1.5 hours per week over many months is, I believe, much more effective in changing the brain’s neural pathways so the before, during, and after the fight steps are cemented into one’s brain. I highly recommend Defensive Mindset Training.

JFM: I took the introductory class and permit to carry both from Beau. I thought both were excellent. I particularly like the emphasis, as the company name says, defense. I wish to avoid situations were I need to use a fire arm. But If I do need it I want to win and these classes helped in that regard.

Donald Kramber: I had never fired a rifle before and reached out for instruction. I am VERY happy with the instruction and additional information I got. Very much worth the money and time!

Adam Neujahr: Incredible staff, facility, and value! You owe it to yourself to go, and go often.

Charles Vickers: GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!!! Staff are knowledgeable and professional.

Daniel Furey: , but I would come every week if I could. Everything they teach here is backed by both experience and logic. There are lots of gun gurus out there with varying opinions about a lot of stuff. These guys have their opinions like everyone else, but their opinions are not grounded in bs. Beau is willing and able to give everyone detailed and convincing reasons for everything that is taught. I have never been unsatisfied with a class and have always walked away feeling both like I have improved and that there is more to be done. And hell, it's also a lot of fun. I recommend DMT to everyone I know that carries or wants to carry, and will continue to do so.

Joshua Daubenmeyer: I can't say enough positive things about Beau and his staff, and a top-notch facility as well! This isn't just a gun safety class, it's about practical, situational learning in a safe environment. I've been through a number of different training programs, but none as solid as this.

Jon Ochetti: Excellent instructors and facility. If you're looking for a great place to learn basics to advanced training, or to simply attend training to receive or renew your carry permit, I would recommend Defensive Mindset Training. They approach training from a unique perspective.

Gueorgui V. Martynov: Best in Town.Talented instructors. Outstanding and unique training programs with combatives class, force on force curriculum with a legal approach.Top notch online education. But what is more important to me this is the group of students and instructors who are sharing the similar mindset. Band of Brothers.I hadn’t come here to fear. I hadn’t come to fail.I had come to win!

Jon Bellovich: The training received was top tier! The ability to break down the fundamentals for new and intermittent shooters, and push advanced shooters to a higher level. I have recommended them sense I have taken the class, and will take further training my self in the future.

Paul Briggs: The very best training from extremely experienced and patient instructors. I highly recommend DMT!

Madeline Elmhirst: I walked in to Defensive Mindset Training hoping to learn how to draw effectively from my holster and left with so much more. DTM offers comprehensive defensive training both for your person and your home. DTM’s state of the art facility is safe and clean and their innovative instruction provides the drills and practice you need to develop to defend your life. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, Defensive Mindset Training has what you need to take your skills to the next level.

Ben Frederickson: I wouldn’t go anywhere else for a permit to carry class. The class was thorough and every minute of it contained crucial information. The instructors were incredibly knowledgeable and fun to work with.

Martha Larson: Professional and knowledgeable instructors, dedicated to teaching a well developed detail oriented curriculum. The focus on posture, stance, proper handgun grip, handgun shooting positions and safety. Excellent for someone with no experience and also anyone with experience who wants to improve on what they already have.

Hannah Wilkinson: Went here with my Fiance to get professional training with my carry gun. After a short while Bo was able to find that the one I had, had given me a flinch! He also found I had Galloped with each shot, he had the just about fixed by the end of the course!I loved the mindset portion, definitely bring a pen and paper to write down the 5 steps to follow!

LON LUTZ: I began my training here several years ago when the business was known as Sealed Mindset-this ongoing experience, now with DMT has totally transformed how I handle firearms and assess tactical situations in general. Without question this is the most thoughtful, comprehensive program in the area. I highly recommend it

Mercedes Maupin: Very informative class with an interactive and enthusiastic instructor! I would use defensive mindset in the future.

Unified Martial Arts Academy: what do users think?

michael white: As a complete newbie to firearms, Cory’s class exceeded my expectations in every aspect. His expertise, hands-on teaching approach, and comprehensive course material left me feeling extremely confident in my ability to handle a firearm responsibly, understand the duties of ownership and carrying, and grasp the importance of carrying one in the first place. I highly recommend this course to both beginners and experienced individuals seeking to renew their concealed carry permit. A definite 10/10.

Christopher McKay: The staff are professional and thorough; the programming was on-point. Would highly recommend.

Tou Xiong: The class was fantastic. Cory was very knowledgeable and gave the class a lot of hands on training. He is a great teacher and I highly recommend his CCW class for anyone else interested.

Junior N.: This is my third concealed carry class, and the Unified Martial Arts class led by instructor Cory is by far the best I've experienced. Cory, who is also a martial arts teacher, brings a level of passion to this course that is evident in his teaching style. Unlike most concealed carry classes that lack hands-on training, this class immerses you in multiple real-life scenarios using simulated training guns. Cory guides you through techniques for de-escalation, non-lethal responses, and, when necessary, the use of lethal force. Through repeated practice, you gain confidence in handling a firearm effectively in high-pressure situations. I highly recommend this course for anyone seeking a concealed carry permit. I would give it more than five stars if I could!

Shane Lindberg: I drove from Rochester MN to take the MN permit to carry class, as I needed it to get my renual. The first class I took 5 years ago was very dull and unsatisfactory. The class with Cory was Amazing. He designed a class which went beyond what needed to be done. It was filled will tons of hands on work, including physical self defense techniques used to prevent having to use the gun, plus lots of exercises to use and shoot the gun more effectively. Very pleasant day. If I did not live over an hour away I would like to take his martial arts classes too Thanks Cory for the great class!

Melissa Manhart: , I can punch/kick heavy bags

ABEBE Reda: I love this karate! My daughter is about to be a yellow belt thanks to her!❤❤ She loves it there! Thank you so much!!🥋❤

Jenni Black: My daughter has been attending Unified Martial Arts for over a year now. We checked out their free class initially and liked how the Sensei interacted with the children, their teaching philosophy and what the Dojo stands for. This place, to me, has been a positive support in "it takes a village to raise a child" truth! My daughter is getting strong mentally and physically from being trained here. I 100% recommend them!!!

Erik Carlson: There are plenty of reasons I like this place so much. Three reasons stand out. First, it's never the same class twice. Variety is the spice of life! Second, it's never easy. We're always challenged to "do our best, even when we're not at our best." Cory and Trudi always encourage us to work hard, but never force it. As we improve, we can work hard for longer times, which leads to more improvement! Third, our fellow students are always there for us; training is better with the right group, after all.I could write a lot more, but to be honest, I'd rather train. I also encourage you to check this place out and see it for yourself!

angela burger: My son has been going here for2 years, and loves it. I never knew he could be so disciplined and love watching him when he does belt promotion night. Rain or snow storm, the owners are always open and ready to go. You can tell they love the art of martial arts, and it shows thru their students.

tony nahl: Sensei Trudi and Sensei Cory are amazing with the kids! ! They teach great life lessons like confidence, and being kind to others, and of course self defense. Would recommend this dojo to anyone! They also have adult classes and kickboxing!

Amber Stolp: I am new to the Dojo/kickboxing classes at Unified Martial Arts and I couldn't recommend more!! The environment is welcoming, regardless of your level of kickboxing experience. Sensei Cory is a great instructor who keeps class interesting and different, every single time. I'm glad I took the leap and tried the first class, it was worth it.

Tarek Khatib: A fantastic place to train and push your self! The dojo provides an environment for self improvement for both adults and children. Operated by true martial artist, they provide the framework to follow! You will be winded, sweating, sore, and eager to come back the next day! Can’t miss with this place, you just have to show up!

Nic Payne: The senseis are amazing but the format for little warriors is unique and effective. It’s been incredible to watch Ollie grow as a result.

Jason Jaworski: I've had my two boys attend this dojo for about six years since they were around four years old. The "at your pace" flexibility in training and belt promotions has really provided my family with the options needed for my high energy individuals. Sensei Corey and Sensei Trudy are the most patient and fun martial artists. I am astounded by the core philosophy of integrity, discipline and respect. The mixed arts of Kali, Karate and Jujitsu truly build my children's confidence in their daily challenges. 5 Stars!

Mike Lokowich: Hands down the best place to train, learn, and get an incredible workout. My son and I are both enrolled, and will be for the long run. I cannot recommend it enough.

Ngia Lee: I enjoy watching my son learn. The instructor is nice and good as well. Highly recommend for young toddler to get some discipline.

Judy Livingston: The Kickboxing class at the dojo is fantastic! Never the same workout from session to session. It is a great mix of martial arts, cardio, strength training and self-defense. Can't recommend it enough!

McCune's Martial Arts: what do users think?

Jim Auld: Chris McCune is a brilliant Jiujitsu instructor and a really nice human being. I am a 1st degree black belt with 16 years in, Chris gave me some concepts and ways to improve that will take a couple years to incorporate into my game. A real gentleman who was there 30 years ago with the Machados. It’s hard to find true masters, but I’m here to say Chris McCune is a master of jiujitsu. Respect!

B. J. Van Beusekom: Been with this school for the longest of any gyms that I used to train at. There is a great atmosphere, there is knowledgeable instructors, great training partners, and a great facility with heavy bags & gym equipment.

Ryan Maciej: I was in town for a long weekend and reached out to see if I could attend classes and am happy I did. Great group of people and very welcoming. I have only been training BJJ for about 4 months but everyone was super accommodating, helpful and friendly. Got to roll with a bunch of new people. Check them out if you have a chance.

Peter: I visited McCune's on 4/11/23 and took the evening No-gi Jiu Jitsu class.Friendly staff and students, facility was cleanly with plenty of mat space. Coaching was great, Sean was extremely knowledgeable and gave concise instruction. Rolling here was awesome, lots of skilled practitioners!

Michael Lee: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,ValueGreat school, I was there for the jiu Jitsu class and everybody was very welcoming and respectful, would definitely recommend.

Marc Renville: Simply the best place to train jiu jitsu!

Quiropractico Quito: Sifu Chris McCune is a great instructor with several years of experience. This is the martial arts school that other black belts choose to study in for a good reason because the combination of Kung Fu San Soo with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu provides great self-defence training.

sean strube: You will not find another person like Chris. He is truly a 1 of a kind human being, who has changed more lives then anyone could ever count. And this is on top of thee top notch instruction you recieve here. Thank you to everyone here who has help me to succeed in my life, this will always be my family.

Loni Werner: My son loves the staff and other patrons. He feels very at home at McCune's.

Martial Arts Academy of Tang Soo Do - MN: what do users think?

Justin Koivisto: Great instructors and great friends can be found here! Classes are fun, informative, and friendly. Master Grothe is amazing!

Katrina Ferguson: This place is like family for me. Here I have not only improved my physical and mental health but I have also grown in confidence. This school is technically sound and also clearly loves its students. If you are looking for traditional martial arts with a focus on improvement of the entire person this is the place for you.

Marianne Gross: Signed my 9 year old up for a free intro class. I was impressed! Staff are friendly and professional, greeting us right away when we came in. My son was welcomed and jumped right in. The instructor had the kids moving and engaged the entire 1 hour class. Struck the right balance-lots of learning and reasonable expectations, while maintaining a fun and comfortable environment for a youth sport. Kids in the class seemed to like the instructors and I could tell they were approachable and kind. At the end of the class my son ran to me and asked if he could sign up for more, and we did!

Matthew Ferguson: I have attended this martial arts school on and off for years as my life has allowed. I am consistently impressed with the level instruction I have received. This is a wonderful school for all ages and all ability levels. I cannot recommend it enough.I also want to express some additional points since my original review. The instructors here are absolutely welcoming of all kinds. Whoever you are, you will find a welcoming community here to support you on your journey of life.

Maureen Papia: Takes a lot of time with each student, very encouraging in their training, and models respect.

Shalysa Gavin: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI absolutely love going to class here. The students and teachers all make it so much fun. I look forward to doing this for years to come!

Dianna Haynes: Excellent instructors are awesome my grandkids have been going there for 12 years

Eric Lien: Both of my boys have been going here for years. My boys are not the best behaved in the world, but the owner is unbelievably good with kids, and he has the patience of a saint. I have seen great progress from my kids in both focus and discipline over the years. I would highly recommend anyone interested to definitely give it a look.

Hailey Pierson: I've been in martial arts through this company for 10 years now, i don't know what I would do without them, they're my family my second home. Through this company I've made so many friends and have learned so much about life and martial arts. I have grown stronger mentally and physically.

Josiah: not only a martial art, but also life skills, this is the location for you.

S Taha: Great place to learn martial arts, the instructor are very patient, especially if you're new to marital art.

Matthew Cruz: This place has helped me become the person that I am and has been a consistent place of support for over 16 years for me.
