The Cellar Gym: what do users think?

Nathan Johnson:

Suki Moen:

Gabriela Cole:

Kailey Everett: This has been my second home for the last several years! If you are having doubts just give it a try! We have all been there and it takes a lot of courage to try something new but it is so worth it! I started just because I wanted to find a way to exercise that was less boring than running on a treadmill and now, I am a part of the fight team and have rooted myself in an amazing community that has helped me not just physically but socially and emotionally. The coaches are amazing and willing to go out of their way and sacrifice their time to help you. They have a great kids program with amazing caring coaches. I don't know what I could do without this gym. Whether you want to join for mental or physical health reasons or compete at the highest level this is the gym for you!

Ken Tran: Recently, I completed the 6 week challenge, which gave me the motivation to come back and start attending classes again. For the challenge we were to attend kickboxing classes 3 times a week. Originally I was signed up for Muay Thai, as I found it to be an interesting art, but after the challenge, I found I enjoyed the kickboxing a lot and signed up for that instead.I was worried about finding time to attend, but they have so many classes on their schedule that I can always find a class that matches my schedule, no matter how much my schedule changes week to week. While I worked the fair, I was able to attend morning classes. When I went back to my normal work schedule they had a class almost every night of the week. The coaches are absolutely phenomenal. Being that there are so many classes, there are also a few coaches, and they all teach their classes differently, while still changing it up from class to class. Not only are you getting a satisfying workout, but you are getting a variety that promises you'll never get bored. As for the people, they are all very friendly. Although I attend classes alone, there is always somebody to practice with. Often we end up pairing up, and if you didn't bring a friend you'll have to make a new friend. I have not had one bad experience with all of the people I have worked with. As great as a place is, if the people aren't friendly, then it basically becomes a chore to attend. I actually find myself looking forward to attending classes and meeting new people.Overall, I would highly recommend taking a look at this gym. The classes are great and flexible; the coaches are knowledgeable and helpful; and the people are extremely friendly.UPDATE 9/4/19-11 months later and I still find myself getting excited to attend classes everyday. In fact, sometimes I dread holidays or vacations due to the classes I'd have to miss. I've started many hobbies and quit after a month or two because I was bored or just didn't feel like I belonged. Here I feel like everyone is so inclusive and welcoming.I've expanded from kickboxing and Muay Thai into Brazillian Jiu Jitsu and am loving it just as much as the other two. Unfortunately, this does mean I do have to cut back on one of the other two in order to participate, but that's what I get for wanting to try everything. One important thing to note is that The Cellar is not just for the combatants looking to get into the or improve their fighting prowess. Yes, if that is what you're looking for, this place is amazing, but for an average Joe, Jill or whoever, this is a good place to meet new friends and get in a fun workout.Update 1/10/2024-5 years later and still going! The gym has gone through some changes.- There is a new location in a much easier location within the Rosedale Commons. The space is much larger and gives us a ton of room to play in.- The new owners aren't new to the gym and have been part of the infrastructure for longer than I have been a member. They are doing an amazing job and have adapted to the post COVID world with some welcome changes- We have new coaches in the mix with the ones we have before and that has provided even more opportunity for all of us to learn and grow.I have been sticking to the "Average Joe" aspect of training. Although I have gone back to Muay Thai only, I am continuing to have a ton of fun while staying active. I still get to meet new people from all walks of life and learn from some of the most amazing people. I cannot recommend this gym enough.

Justin Anderson: I wanted to train Muay Thai for a while. I have completed my first five classes. The gym facility is exceptional. The classes are what I wanted: challenging! The coaches/trainers keep the class moving, are helpful and clear in their instructions. I did an initial trial membership which helped me determine if The Cellar would be a good fit. I appreciate there are a lot of different classes available at different times.

Peyton Krause: Nice people and awesome gym!

Joshua Hoekstra: First week here was amazing! Everyone is super friendly and made getting into something new very welcoming.

Aaron Sanders: Great gym , great people ,great experience couldn't recommend it enough! And wouldn't recommend something else.

lucio clasher: , and a great learning environment for anyone from beginner to pro. All the members ive talked to have been very nice and welcoming.

Vipul Gidda: Did a drop in class when I was visiting a customer on business. Professor was welcoming.Great gym and everyone was helpful, kind, and great rolls too!If you’re in town try this gym out. I will be back.

David Olivas: Great, solid team, warm welcome, clean, I recommend it for everyone, great place to learn!

Armando Gutierrez: Southside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy is one of the best schools in Minneapolis! Coach Enrique and his instructors are incredibly welcoming, creating a fun and exciting atmosphere for the gym. On top of that, their wide-range of techniques and detailed instruction offers one to learn and advance very fast once here! It is clear that they truly have a passion for teaching from how they conduct themselves and deal with everyone around them. Southside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy is definitely the most premier school in terms of technique, training, and atmosphere. When you're talking about this gym, you're talking about the Gold Standard of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms!

Fabian Ferrada: I’ve had an opportunity to train in a lot of dojos over the last 16 years and Southland BJJ definitely has a great environment and culture. Felt safe with everyone and had an opportunity to train with some of the colored belts. Very respectful and overall great people. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking to drop in for a class.

Nicole Santolalla: Southside is an outstanding bjj academy. Everyone is very welcoming and Coaches are extremley knowledgable and focus on helping each student with their individual needs. It is a great place for anyone regardless of if you are new to the sport or have tons of experience. I would 100% recommend giving it a try.

Juan Ignacio Basigalup: Excellent academy and instructors!Enrique, Adrián and Nick teach quality BJJ in a fresh, detailed and comprehensive way.Absolutely recommended.

Pámela Boveda Aguirre: Very nice and friendly place to train, close to the U and close to bus stops, different people to train with! good level of jiu jitsu! 100% recommended ❤️

Odhran Hayes Owens: Southside is a wonderful community of jujitsu practitioners. The professors meet the students where they are at and have real grasp on how to teach the techniques for the students. I’ve practiced a variety of martial arts at a few places, their approach to jujitsu seems to be pretty progressive and very well thought out

Eben gardner: Great gym! He's very flexible with what you need and everyone is very friendly. There's a wide range of skill at this gym so it's a great place for anyone looking to continue or start their training. If you can't afford the rates, talk to him about it. He'll work with ya! Good luck!

seth cheney: I visited this school from out of town and felt right at home. Excellent instruction with fine tuned technique. Great rolling partners kept it competitive while leaving ego at the door!

Mark Hill: I did a drop in class while in town for a day at this gym. The instructor was welcoming, as were the students. He clearly has immense knowledge of Bjj and taught really well and I learned a lot from his class and his students who were equally helpful! Will be back for sure next time I am in Minneapolis. Great gym.

Kareem Abou-Karam: What an amazing place to train! It doesn't matter if you are just starting or you have been training for years, the instruction at Southside is top-notch! I have been training here for the past 2 years and have learned more than I could have possibly imagined in that time!

Yi Jin Toh: but all the other sessions are also very welcoming and made me feel comfortable

Joseph Dasuki: Authentic people, chill vibes, tough competitors 🤙, everything that matters for a great bjj gym is here

Fatima A: This is an excellent Jiu jitsu gym, I highly recommend it to other parents. My son attended and received stellar training. He was new to the sport and timid, and I always felt he was in the best of hands, both cared for and always challenged to get even better. The instructors are skilled, patient, and provide the kids with plenty of opportunity to learn and practice together. The membership is very competitive and location is convenient. We had nothing but great experiences here, no reservations at all.

Ibsa Barisa: Joining Southside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy has been a transformative experience for me. Professor Enrique, the head instructor, is not only an outstanding tactician but also a highly skilled. His passion for the art is contagious, and under his watchful eye, I have learned the importance of perfecting my techniques and embracing the values of discipline, resilience, and respect. What sets Professor Enrique apart is his ability to break down complex moves into digestible steps tailored to each student's level. He has always been open to my questions and provides detailed responses that have deepened my understanding of Jiu-Jitsu. His unwavering commitment to my progress has made me feel competent in my skills and confident in my ability to apply them during rolls and future competitions. In addition to Professor Enrique, other instructors, like Professor Adrian Ricci, and higher belt students like Nik and Tim have been incredibly helpful and encouraging. Their collective expertise creates a well-rounded learning experience that fosters growth and development. The gym itself is clean and well-maintained, and I've found a supportive and motivated community in my fellow practitioners. Southside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy flexible scheduling with classes in the morning, midday, and evenings, has made it easy for me to fit training into my busy life. I can't imagine a better environment to learn and grow in the art of Jiu-Jitsu, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to train under Professor Enrique and the rest of the talented team.

Joe & Dorota Kearney: I dropped in for a class while I was in town for work. It’s a great atmosphere with high level black belt instruction, and everyone was very welcoming and friendly. I will certainly return when I’m back in town!

Maxamed Hussin: This is a great place to train! The crew at Southside bjj are very welcoming to visitors and cater to all levels of grappling experience.

The Academy MN: what do users think?

Andrew Thomas: I've been going to The Academy for almost 10 years now! I would still be there but I have opened a Muay Thai/kickboxing gym in another country. This is by far the best Martial arts gym I've been too! I'm a bit biased because they have such a strong community that I was a part of. Even today being a world away, the coaches still keep in contact with me.It doesn't matter if you are going for fitness, Martial arts and/or to be a fighter. You will learn proper technique from world class coaches! They are very supportive in whatever path you choose. The biggest reason I felt it was necessary to open my own martial arts gym, was to bring this community to other people. It's not easy to recreate what the academy has. They are definitely very special. Thanks for the years of training and teachings I could not have done this without all I learned at The Academy. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Dakotah Love: This place has changed my life, the coaches my training partners, everything good vibes, real skills, awesome fights, God only knows where I'd be without this place. Genuinely saved my life.

Karina Higareda: Dedicated, Honorable & Humble, these are my favorite words to describe this training facility. My now 16 yr old has been training at this top notch, top quality coaching studio for over a year and hands down they’ve never let us down & have impressed my son and I with their skilled training & dedicated coaching. I highly recommend & encourage people looking to level up their game to train here, you will not be disappointed. Keep up the excellent work!

Pámela Boveda Aguirre: I had the chance to train a nogi class here today, and I loved the place, the environment, the facility is super clean and confortable! you have a lot of different options in their schedule! and they have worked with many pro athletes! I had a great experience and recommend the place for sure! Also the level of the girls that train there is very good, bjj competitors with a lot of experience.

Keith Burnham: Very good training for adults and children. Coaching is talented and robust. My 16 year old son's life has been transformed in just 4 weeks at this school. He is just a beginner, but his habits and life trajectory have been impacted in an unbelievable way. More than the trophies and belts on the wall..... this experience will last a lifetime.

Sam Guinan-Nyhart: Excellent training center. Friendly, welcoming and skilled! I dropped in over the holidays and spent a great couple hours here.

Chase Taylor: Great place. Employees are very welcoming and encouraging to get people involved. Definitely a community you would like to be a part of

Andrew Vuong: Great environment and classes!

Darrick Mattox: My daughter loves it and so do we

Cella Westray: Dropped in visiting in town and looking for a place to practice. The coaches seem top-notch and extremely knowledgeable. It’s a great community they have here--not only welcoming but also somewhere to push each other to get better, which I always appreciate! Thanks again for welcoming me, I will definitely be coming back if I ever move back to the Twin Cities area!

Tanner Martinson: Top of the line facility. Not only that but top of the line coaches and training partners as well. Great environment.

Frederick Frederickson: Large multi-disciplinary training center with an equipped gym as well.

Christopher Foecke: Good variety of styles and skill levels

Isaiah Nolan: I been to gyms all over the United States for the past 10 years and the Academy is the best of the best. Super knowledgeable instructors, clean environment, and a great community of kind and accepting students.

Russell Martinez: he coaches are very knowledgeable and staff is helpful! I like how it’s a month to month membership and not long contract!

Pedro Mosquera: The best experience you have to know among all, without a doubt, knowing and belonging to this wonderful and excellent martial arts academy.A fully equipped space to develop your potential and acquire skills. The highly qualified staff with an excellent human touch make the experience even more enjoyable. With the best motto, that if you assume it as part of your life, you will be the best version of yourself every day.OPERA NON VERBA.

Steve Henry: The Academy is an extremely impressive training facility. As a 37 year old construction worker I deal will general soreness on a regular basis. After working out here for less than two months I have lost 20 pounds, eliminated what I thought was chronic hip pain, and discovered the will power to break a decade long smoking habit. The heath benefits of training martial arts are undeniable and The Academy allows you to learn from extremely legit martial artists NO MATTER YOUR SKILL OR FITNESS LEVEL. I can’t thank head coach Greg Nelson and his team enough, 10/10 would recommend.

Minnesota Top Team: what do users think?

Michael Bermudez: This is an incredible organization with a quality, first-class staff and support system.Age, skill level, or fitness level is not a problem. If you're considering, simply go in and explore your options. Well worth it!

Andrew Mangles: This do a very good kickboxing class, although it's only offered 2 nights a week.

Shawn Horton: Great gym with a solid atmosphere. My first time visiting today, but I know I'll be back again soon. Welcome to the GFTeam family!

Amadou Gueye: A fantastic gym, excellent coaches, great classes and more importantly nice people that make up a big family!I will never forget my experience at MTT, the people I met and the abilities I acquired whilst training here. I started boxing here in early 2022 in what I thought would be sporadic exercise. With no experience in boxing, I quickly found a great interest in the discipline and a few weeks into it I already did not imagine missing a single class. Nearly two years later, thanks to all the coaches and classmates met along the way, I finally feel like a boxer. I eventually added Crossfit to my training routine which effectively changed the way I viewed "working out".Life unfortunately caused me to prematurely part ways with this gym and its people, but I will cherish every memory I made here. All in all, a brilliant experience. A massive THANK YOU to everyone that helped make my experience memorable at Minnesota Top Team.

Madeline Trenholm: I love MTT. The coaches are great and the sense of community is awesome. Everyone wants to see you succeed. Jiu jitsu in particular is highly recommended 👍🏻

Charles Harriott: I came to visit and take class with coach Charles Anoozie. The gym is gorgeous. Amazingly clean and professional. I took the Jiu Jitsu class. Coach Charles shared a great and detailed lesson that fit perfectly into my game. I enjoyed rolling with the team at the end of class. I will definitely be back next time I am in Minnesota.

Harrison Tucker: Excellent facility with really good CF coaches. The ownership is very communicative and reliable. I had a persistent issue with their front desk person who was despondent to two time-based issues. Probably more of a reflection of experience and maturity than a reflection on their character though. Definitely would continue training here if logistics made sense though.

Joanna Suwyn: My son has done both the jiu jitsu and boxing class and has loved both!

Joe Craft: Despite only being on week 2 since joining, I did feel compelled to write a review and share my appreciation to everyone at MTT for being so welcoming and encouraging. I signed up for the Crossfit program, and I am having an absolute blast learning. The Coaches are very accommodating and willing to help me learn new moves and lifts. Participants in the class encourage each other and push each other to keep going. I had been a member at several different gyms and tried many different programs and routines, and so far the Crossfit program has helped hold me accountable and get the most out of my routines. Much appreciated, Minnesota Top Team!

Tony L: I've been a member for a year now and it's easily been one of the best decisions I've ever made. Jeremy and Jennie treat you like family and run a top-notch gym. The front desk crew will make you feel welcome every time you walk through the door. The coaching and programming is second to none and I feel like I improve every day I show up. I've been involved in their CrossFit, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and boxing programs - and never had a negative experience. All of the coaches and other gym members are incredibly welcoming and encouraging. The novelty hasn't worn off after a year - it's still something I look forward to every single day and quite often the highlight of my day. I just wish I would've found this gym years ago!

michael krug: Excellent gym in a great location. The staff is knowledgeable and genuinely cares about all members. Also and AWESOME place to kids for boxing and/or jiujitzu. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Kal-El: 5 star gym for sure. All the staff members, coaches, and even fellow gym members are super cool and really nice. I've been doing the adult boxing classes for a few months now and I've learned so much to the point that my brain can't even keep up sometimes but it's fine because I'm having a great time. I really appreciate what this gym has done for me mentally and physically. Joining this gym was probably one of the best decisions I've ever made. Thank you MTT.

Joseph Strohmeyer: Great training facility. Boxing class súper awesome. Had class with Jesse it was exceptional.

Bethany Danielson: I’ve been going to Minnesota Top Team for cross fit a few years now and I love it. It’s a great community that makes you feel welcomed. Everyone is really supportive of each other. The coaches are good at offering different levels of difficulty to meet you where you are or adapt workouts around injuries. The workouts are challenging and usually combine different strength and cardio portions together for a great overall workout.

Aaron Possis: Great place to make friends and learn how to hurt them better.

Luke Mortenson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityMinnesota Top Team is a fine martial arts establishment. All the staff are warm and very easy to be around. The coaches are articulate with instruction, and give personal feedback even in the context of a whole class.

Danny Faye: Best gym around. International presence. World renowned teachers and staff.

MOTO MUERTE: Great inclusive gym with one on one coaching option. Started here with no experience and have had a great time. The instructors are great and classes move along at a good pace. The classes develop in complexity over the course of the month and I would advise starting early in the month and consistently getting to a class.

Chris Smith: Best place to train for Muay Thai in the city. Highly recommended.

Sarah Davis: My daughter takes their youth classes and is absolutely beaming and excited after every hour spent with their instructors. Joe, Tim, and Kyle are truly wonderful humans who have found a perfect balance between instructing, inspiring, encouraging discipline and excellence but injecting the air with humor and kindness. We are transplants to the area and coming from LA I can say this type of environment for kids to learn about themselves, be in their bodies, and connect is a rare thing. Everyone from the front desk staff, to the other folks taking adult classes and as mentioned the amazing instructors are just an absolute joy to be around. Good vibes abound. These people will bring a smile to your face and inspire you and your family.

Adam Bender: 10 years ago I was in the military and did about 2 years of MMA / BJJ training. I had my first class last week and am extremely impressed. All of the students there seem genuinely interested in learning and improving rather than just hanging out. The instructors are not only extremely knowledgeable, but several of them actually compete in MMA competitions.I've seen them demonstrate some very high-skill techniques, and they're exceptional at explaining what they're doing.Bottom line, there are only a few places in the area to train in MMA, but don't bother with the others. This place is amazing and totally worth it if you want to develop skill in MMA / BJJ fighting styles.

Mary Kate Eiden: I love the fitness kickboxing class offered at Warrior's Cove! This class is inclusive for any age or ability and a great way to stay in shape for me personally post college athletics. I appreciate the coaching staff in providing unique and challenging classes each week!

Tom Mondragon: competition for sport or keep it to self-defense. I am now over 50, and I am more fit than when I entered the gym in my early 30's thanks to Warrior's Cove. The environment is safe and inviting. The instructors are respectful and helpful. I am grateful to Warrior's Cove for a premium MMA/self-defense experience that I plan to continue for as long as I can.

Brian Resz: Started at Warrior's Cove a little over a month ago with zero martial arts background. The entire staff genuinely wants you to show up, learn, and get better. It's a very welcoming atmosphere. The MMA and cardio kickboxing classes are very well taught and great compliments. Highly highly highly recommend Warrior's Cove.

Cole Baumgartner: As I transitioned from my Division 1 wrestling career into my professional career, I wanted to find something of similar community and competitiveness to what I had in college. The Cove was a great place to land because it allows for flexibility to create a schedule around my job that can range from lighter days to relieve stress from the work day to much harder days that satisfy the competitive itch from division 1 athletics.

John Preston: Warriors Cove became my home gym in October of 2022. I had minimal experience in a mma gym setting six years prior. I didn’t know what to expect when I showed up for my one on one with Max but I was immediately into what he was teaching me. I knew that I had truly enjoyed learning and rolling back at that first gym but this place was different. There I met my instructors Bodie, AJ, Cole, Henry and Mr. Arnebeck. They all taught me combat jiujitsu. I wanted to challenge myself through this process of learning and simply be better than I was the day before. They all helped me in that journey along with all of my fellow students! This is the gym for anyone wanting to learn to be a better jiujitsu practitioner or just looking for a new way to challenge yourself.Warriors Cove taught me that sometimes you win but everytime you LEARN!John Preston

Joe S: My kids have been going to Warriors Cove for approximately eight months. What a wonderful place for kids to learn not only martial arts but also learn discipline, respect, and grow friendships with other students. Now, my kids hang out outside class with some other students. The instructors are so patient and kind to the children and parents, and their ability to teach all kids at different levels and abilities is impressive. If you or your kids are looking for MMA lessons, I highly recommend Warriors Cove.

Nicholas: I have the utmost respect and admiration for the staff and coaches of this gym, they have always been respectful, encouraging, and nothing short of amazing. The environment is clean and professional, and I enjoy training here very much and I look forward to how much I can grow.

Bro Ravioli: Really good training

Paul Anson: Great community. Great training / curriculum. Passionate folks. Zero jerks. Will continue training at the Cove.

Caleb Petersen: Great atmosphere, training partners, and instructors.

Owen Rostis: Excellent group of people with high quality instructors and intuitive lessons.

Joshua Liska: Great gym. Really educational and a good work out. 10/10 recommend.

Ja Jo: birthday gift. Well over a year later we still look forward to going many times per week - even when we're tired or moving slow that day. We learn real-life self-defense and fighting skills that you won't get at BJJ-only gyms. The instructors are top notch and most importantly, the atmosphere among all members is always positive, helpful, and encouraging - while still being challenging and competitive.

Todd Casey: I’ve been attending Warriors Cove for almost 3 months and my experience has been far greater than I imagined walking into this gym. I was filled with rage and fear and lacked confidence in myself. Now with training regularly at the Warriors Cove I’ve now become more confident and less afraid, I’ve felt more control over my emotions knowing I’m prepared for situations that used to scare me. I’ve come to meet great people and have enjoyed such great intense work out sessions while at the Warriors Cove. I’ve been treated with nothing but respect and appreciation for the Mixed Martial Art community by the staff there, along with detailed techniques that sharpen one’s ability to be well prepared should hand to hand combat be necessary. I came in Warriors Cove afraid and now walk with the confidence of a Warrior thanks to this gym and the amazing people in it!

James McJamesington: The energy, training, cleanliness, and support here is top tier. Coaches take a individualized interest in your training, and the gym culture is supportive and is as challenging as you wish. This is a great place to better yourself, get in shape, and to have great social interactions.

The super professional coaches are always waiting for the Students to do the drills, paying attention to the details. If you are in the Minneapolis, Minnesota area and practice jiujitsu with a gi or no gi, take a look around M-theory is the place you should visit. Call them before you go. They offer the first or second class free of charge.

Have to compliment their takedowns, there’s a few I’ll be spamming at my home gym. Thank you to Ryan, Ish, and all of the students at the academy for a great experience. Hope I can drop in next time I’m in town.

Spartan Martial Arts Gym: what do users think?

Mark Olson: World class company

Stefan V: I never write reviews but i am making an exception. I used to compete in judo and kickboxing untill i started driving semi truck. Now i travel around America and any chance i get to stop by somewhere and do a workout i do. First time stopping at spartan martial arts and what i can tell you i would give 10 stars not 5. Owner was super respectful and welcoming and we had a nice conversation about the sport and the life overall. Members are also welcoming and respectful and for an hour i was there i have felt like i’ve been in the gym at my hometown! When leaving i got gifted a T- shirt from the owner. I will DEFINITELY stop here any time i have a chance. Thank you guys!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏💪💪💪

An important point for any visitors wishing to stop in: make sure your shoes are off and placed in the rack near each entrance.Everyone there is welcoming to any experience level. You don't need to have any experience whatsoever to start.

Bill Siekkinen: Spartan has a very welcoming atmosphere, from the coaches down to the students. I came in out of shape and knowing nothing. Everyone is encouraging and patient. World Jiu Jitsu Academy: what do users think?

Tiffany: The coaches are amazing with kids. I was pretty nervous about enrolling my kiddo because she can lose focus, not process information correctly at times, and is pretty cautious. These guys said, "No problem!" and they weren't kidding. From the minute we walked in the door, they were all so welcoming. Even the other kiddos were welcoming and helpful to my daughter! She actually looks forward to the classes and has so much fun while building her confidence. Fantastic place!

Anya Greengauz: My son loves it here! Learning new skills, self confidence, competitiveness and overall generating respect and discipline. Would highly recommend.

Christopher Baldridge: I went to 5 Jiu Jitsu gyms before settling on WJJ. I joined because of Professor Anderson's teaching style, the low-ego friendliness of the other people, and the cleanliness of the facility. Those, among others, are the reasons I've stayed. In addition, I've learned a lot about Jiu Jitsu and have fallen in love with the art. I would recommend World Jiu Jitsu to anyone who wants a new challenge and all of the benefits that come with it.

Sarah Elliott: From the first class when my 5 year old daughter learned how to escape a headlock, I knew this was right program for us! The kids learn real-life skills and discipline that will serve them well for the rest of their lives. The coaches are all great and highly invested in each child’s success. To top it all off, the classes are fun and the community is great!

Austin M: If you're looking for a Jiu Jitsu gym, this is the place to go. Professor Anderson is extremely knowledgeable and a great instructor. He and the rest of the coaches/students provide a very "family-like" atmosphere and makes everyone feel welcome even on their first day. 10/10 would recommend if you are interested in learning BJJ.

Kev Akatsuki: World Jui-jitsu academy is an awesome facility to train and learn new skills.

Samantha Clark: If you want to learn amazing Jiu-Jitsu techniques in a family friendly gym, then I highly recommend training at WJJA.

Oshin James: If I could give it 6 stars I would!

Dan: I have been going to this gym for about 9 months. The members have been extremely welcoming and humble. No toxic machismo like you frequently find in this sort of environment. This is a fantastic place to learn Jiu Jitsu and make new friends along the way. I wish I would have joined years ago.

Dan Torbenson: World Jiu Jitsu is an awesome Brazilian jiu jitsu school. Professor Anderson is not only an excellent practitioner and amazing teacher, but he's also a very approachable, great person. The school culture couldn't be better--everyone works hard and competes hard, but there's great support and camaraderie amongst all the students, regardless of rank. I've been coming to WJJ for many years now, and most of my kids, teenage to adult, love coming here as well. It's been a great family activity for us--the only downside is that most of my kids can now beat me up. If you're thinking of trying jiu jitsu, I highly recommend it. It's great exercise, and you can stay competitive at a much older age than most other sports. And WJJ is a great place to learn jiu jitsu!

Jennifer Lymangood: My 5 and 7 year old boys have grown so much in their focus and resiliency since starting at World Jiu Jitsu Academy. Professor Anderson is very talented and does an amazing job keeping the kids engaged and having fun while training!

Mike Foote: and am as fit as I have ever been.It doesn't matter how old or young you are, you can always learn and gain a ton of benefits from training. You get self confidence, self defense skills, mastery of the ego, and an incredible sense of satisfaction you just can't get most other places, and so much more. Also, my almost 10 year old daughter has also been training for 4 years now and is a legit grappler. It's nice knowing that I don't have to worry too much about her if some guy gets a bit handsy with her down the road.

Finley Montgomery: my concern was around the stamina and athleticism involved. I can honestly say that my cardio is up, my abilities have gotten better, and I have experienced an abundance of friendships. In addition, I have lost weight and feel better every day. The instructors are fantastic and very patient; I highly recommend them. A fantastic school and experience. Don't let age or whether you are in shape stop you!!!!

Anne Hoedeman: This place is awesome. I started knowing literally nothing about Jiu Jitsu but was never made to feel silly or bad about it. Everyone here is invested in each other's success and working together for improvement. I loved it so much that my kids have joined. They're learning the sport as well as weekly life lessons about self-confidence, respect and attention. I recommend this place to everyone who is thinking about trying Jiu Jitsu or a new martial art. I got my husband to join now as well as a couple of friends.Walking in here feels like coming home. You meet friends, work hard and learn something new every time you're on the mat. We're here probably 6 days a week, and I'm not mad about it.If you're even barely considering trying Jiu Jitsu , this is your sign to come in and just give it a shot. This place is THE best.

Jeffrey Kressler: Professor Anderson and the rest of the coaches are engaging and make a point to get to know you when you are at the gym. They along with everybody who attends class are extremely supportive and create an amazing atmosphere to train BJJ. 10/10 would recommend for all experience levels.

Trinity Fritz Lawrence: In spite of my initial trepidation to begin, this place has become a wonderful part of my life. I was initially a little worried to join such a male-dominated martial art, however not only have the guys been extremely kind and helpful, but there is also a sizable group of women–all in all, it is an extremely welcoming environment and very encouraging. I could not recommend this place more, Ju Jitsu has become an extremely valuable part of my life and it just keeps getting more enjoyable.

Tony Troussov CSP TM: At almost 50 this BJJ been the best physical activity I have done since boxing as a teenager. Learning BJJ been fun and exciting. All Professors and Instructors are focused on helping you grow. WJJA has become a great community of like-minded folks. You must give it a shot.... come and join us!

Tyler Roden: I really cannot say enough good things about this academy. We enrolled our son last year and I have been so very impressed with the quality of instruction, the great attitudes of the instructors, and the balance of both fun and real world instruction that the kids receive. Mixed in are lessons on discipline, respect, confidence, comradery, compassion, resilience, and competition. They have built a very positive and welcoming environment for the kids to learn and grow.

Kelsey Briann Faddler: We have tried out several different martial arts gyms and couldnt really find one that fit. My son, daughter and nephew joined Alliance several months ago. I am a people watcher and observer. Everyone has been very kind and welcoming. The head coach and his wife are really awesome people, along with all the coaches. My son has become so much more confident, he loves this gym. Akagi Jiu-Jitsu: what do users think?

Emily Paulino: started learning Jiu Jitsu here about two months ago. I can’t emphasize enough what a welcoming, encouraging gym this is! They have learned so much about what their bodies can do, and all along the way, have had a group of adults there encouraging them, gently instructing them, and making them regularly feel a part of the group. Pricing is super fair, and you can go as much or as little as works in your schedule if you go with the unlimited class route. I have no experience with adult training here , but can promise your kids will have a positive, empowering experience.

Jason Scully: I visited Akagi last year during their Sunday open mat and it was a lot of fun. The owner Topher was very welcoming and it was great training with so many people in the area.If I’m back in the Minneapolis area, I’ll do my best to stop in again!

Suthisa Krupinski: We take our kids here twice a week for jujitsu and we love how they are progressing gradually each week. The coaches are attentive and they pay close attention to each student to make sure they are doing them right and understand the jujitsu's moves. I love how the coaches sometime incorporate other form of martial arts such as Thai kick boxing. Demonstrating different form of martial arts is an eye opening experience for our kids. We love how the coaches emphasize crucial core values such as teamwork, agility, being respectful, quality over quantity, self confident, being competitive and sportmanship. We are please with this location. You'll be surprised what your kids can absorb by being around great coaches.
