Coach Enrique and his instructors are incredibly welcoming, creating a fun and exciting atmosphere for the gym. On top of that, their wide-range of techniques and detailed instruction offers one to learn and advance very fast once here! It is clear that they truly have a passion for teaching from how they conduct themselves and deal with everyone around them. Southside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy is definitely the most premier school in terms of technique, training, and atmosphere. When you're talking about this gym, you're talking about the Gold Standard of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu gyms!

Fabian Ferrada: I’ve had an opportunity to train in a lot of dojos over the last 16 years and Southland BJJ definitely has a great environment and culture. Felt safe with everyone and had an opportunity to train with some of the colored belts. Very respectful and overall great people. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking to drop in for a class.

Nicole Santolalla: Southside is an outstanding bjj academy. Everyone is very welcoming and Coaches are extremley knowledgable and focus on helping each student with their individual needs. It is a great place for anyone regardless of if you are new to the sport or have tons of experience. I would 100% recommend giving it a try.

Pámela Boveda Aguirre: Very nice and friendly place to train, close to the U and close to bus stops, different people to train with! good level of jiu jitsu! 100% recommended ❤️

Odhran Hayes Owens: Southside is a wonderful community of jujitsu practitioners. The professors meet the students where they are at and have real grasp on how to teach the techniques for the students. I’ve practiced a variety of martial arts at a few places, their approach to jujitsu seems to be pretty progressive and very well thought out

Eben gardner: Great gym! He's very flexible with what you need and everyone is very friendly. There's a wide range of skill at this gym so it's a great place for anyone looking to continue or start their training. If you can't afford the rates, talk to him about it. He'll work with ya! Good luck!

seth cheney: I visited this school from out of town and felt right at home. Excellent instruction with fine tuned technique. Great rolling partners kept it competitive while leaving ego at the door!

Mark Hill: I did a drop in class while in town for a day at this gym. The instructor was welcoming, as were the students. Great gym.

Joseph Dasuki: Authentic people, chill vibes, tough competitors 🤙, everything that matters for a great bjj gym is here

Fatima A: This is an excellent Jiu jitsu gym, I highly recommend it to other parents. My son attended and received stellar training. He was new to the sport and timid, and I always felt he was in the best of hands, both cared for and always challenged to get even better. The instructors are skilled, patient, and provide the kids with plenty of opportunity to learn and practice together. The membership is very competitive and location is convenient. We had nothing but great experiences here, no reservations at all.

Ibsa Barisa: Joining Southside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy has been a transformative experience for me. Professor Enrique, the head instructor, is not only an outstanding tactician but also a highly skilled. His passion for the art is contagious, and under his watchful eye, I have learned the importance of perfecting my techniques and embracing the values of discipline, resilience, and respect. What sets Professor Enrique apart is his ability to break down complex moves into digestible steps tailored to each student's level. He has always been open to my questions and provides detailed responses that have deepened my understanding of Jiu-Jitsu. His unwavering commitment to my progress has made me feel competent in my skills and confident in my ability to apply them during rolls and future competitions. In addition to Professor Enrique, other instructors, like Professor Adrian Ricci, and higher belt students like Nik and Tim have been incredibly helpful and encouraging. Their collective expertise creates a well-rounded learning experience that fosters growth and development. The gym itself is clean and well-maintained, and I've found a supportive and motivated community in my fellow practitioners. Southside Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy flexible scheduling with classes in the morning, midday, and evenings, has made it easy for me to fit training into my busy life. I can't imagine a better environment to learn and grow in the art of Jiu-Jitsu, and I'm incredibly grateful for the opportunity to train under Professor Enrique and the rest of the talented team.

Bellum Brazilian Jiu Jitsu: what do users think?

Jason Scully: I dropped into Bellum BJJ during my short visit and it was a great experience. Coach Derek was very respectful and we got a super fun roll in. All of the members were very welcoming as well. The facility looks very clean and there’s plenty of space to train. If I make my way back in the Minneapolis area I’ll be sure to drop in again. It was great finding an early morning Saturday training session as well. A+ experience!

Daniel Ayd: so it's great to see so many visitors dropping in to Bellum; this was something my first gym didn't even allow which makes me wonder why. Bellum has a large open mats, windows for natural light, no weird rules about gis, separate locker room space, great hygiene policy, and plays a role in supporting charities that matter like WeDefy and adopt a cop because trained police keep everyone safer. Any type of grappler welcome and very diverse group. From hobbyists to competitors, male or female, young and old, and at 46 myself, I can say safety is clearly a priority! Just renewed...5 stars!

John Ryan McLaughlin: Dropped in while in town for work, and the coaches/members were amazing. Very open atmosphere with friendly/competitive rolls. Would definitely train here again if I'm back in the area!

Matthew Thompson: Dropped in for open mat while visiting from out of town. Really friendly gym with good training. The owner Derek was friendly and helpful. Thanks!

Morgan Hasegawa: Phenomenal gym. good vibes, and filled with people who's aims are to train well, and avoid dangerous training that leads to unnecessary injury. A great mix of likeminded individuals who want to grow both individually and as a gym collectively. Grateful for Derek and the rest of the excellent coaches.

James Gullickson: Excellent instruction, supportive community, and affordable rates with no contracts. Training here has been transformational for me. It's awesome to be part of a place like this where people are pushing themselves and to witness the growth that takes place.

Perry Heimermann: I've trained at many jiujitsu gyms around the country, and Bellum is a special place. They have some of the best instruction and cleanliness I've experienced. These types of gyms can seem very intimidating to newcomers, but the staff here is very welcoming and accommodating. If you're new, start at Bellum. If you're looking for somewhere to train from out of town, come to Bellum.

Paul Holt: Great instructors, and group of people. Fun atmosphere and accommodating to all skill levels. Classes are the highlight of my week.

Timothy Burns: I have been training at Bellum since January ‘22. Great welcoming environment, and I’m a natural introvert. Derek, Richard, Brandon, and Fabio are excellent coaches. No egos. A bunch of people training for fun, fitness, and self-defense.

Alex Medrano: I've been going to Bellum BJJ for a couple of months and can't sing their praises enough. The owners Derek and Holly go out of their way to always make you feel welcomed, providing loaner GIs and encouraging words. The knowledgeable instructors each have their own styles of explaining technique, adding in their own perspectives from experience. I find the pace of the instruction to be really good, allowing individuals to be slow and steady or to progress more quickly if ready. The community there enables this style by sharing knowledge and working at your pace and level, where ever that may be, beginner or experienced. I did the free trial week and quickly realized that it was exactly the kind of personal challenge I've been looking for.

Matthew Turek: Derek runs a fantastic gym. I come from an affiliate gym, but I always feel welcome when I visit. Culture is important to me, and this gym has developed some done a great job vetting their guys!

Carl Ball: Excellent training facility. Having cerebral palsy it is always a concern how patient instructors will be with my lack of flexibility. However, everyone here is great and very encouraging. My girlfriend’s daughter did the kids class and really enjoyed it.

Issamar Cartagena-Coronado: I went to the women’s self defense class and it was amazing. I learned a few fundamentals. I hope to be back soon. Great teachers and everyone was so nice. Everyone was extremely welcoming.

Gohan Xyooj: Awesome dojo to learn Bjj and the people there are great and nice. Come check it out.

Juan Carlos Acevedo: Excellent classes and very welcoming group. I just regret I didn’t join sooner.

Alliance Jiu-Jitsu: what do users think?

Kelsey Briann Faddler: We have tried out several different martial arts gyms and couldnt really find one that fit. My son, daughter and nephew joined Alliance several months ago. I am a people watcher and observer. I have watched these coaches plant so many seeds for success, confidence, and just an all around wholesome experience into so many individuals in the gym and their families. Everyone has been very kind and welcoming. The head coach and his wife are really awesome people, along with all the coaches. My son has become so much more confident, he loves this gym. His demeanor has changed in such a positive way. We are very grateful we found this place, it definitely fits for us.

If you live here, definitely recommend it.
