Mississippi National River and Recreation Area: what do users think?

Brenda Shockey: Only have experienced the Omni Theater and it was pretty cool.

Andy Smith: The visitor center itself is really nice and has lots of information. There is a short walk down to the river, but the park here is no what I would call a recreation park. If you are exploring other parts of the MNR&RA then this is somewhere to visit as it has all the info about the park and the various sections and how to get to them. Its co-located with the science museum which is well worth a visit.

Rodney Tholen: Fun spot inside the Minnesota Science Museum building. No ticket needed.

Richard Erickson: Nice visitor center that is part of a large museum.

Cam Kay: The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area Visitors Center is Awesome. Great Staff and tons of information. Check it out!

Amelia Liu: Nice little exhibit!

Edgar Ramirez: Parking is hard but man what a view!

Leira Snewo: First, the pictures arent the greatest of representation of this museum. In fact these pictures are extremely underwhelming. But to my main point of business. Anyone have a kid that is a PAIN to take anywhere? Or am I the only one? Everywhere I go, this kid just complains about everything & honestly, it's a drag. Nothing makes this kid happy. NOTHING. So after 5 minutes of forcing this kid into the museum, she ended up BEGGING me to not leave. She's a pre-teen btw. That's really important to add because I think the Childrens museum in Boston & Chattanooga are AMAZING. But those are great for tiny kids. MNR is great for kids of all ages, even those who are too cool for school.MNR is 3 stories of educational fun. On the first floor, they have an amazing store, a cafe

Cory Walaitis: Fun place to check out. The floor being a birds eye view of the Twin Cities. Cool to pop in if you're already going to the museum.

Andy Jopling: Cool interactive exhibits.

Daniel J: Looked great, lots of exhibits and informative!

Van Wilder: Prepare to be captivated by the allure of the mighty Mississippi River as you embark on an unforgettable adventure through the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, history buff, or simply seeking a serene escape from city life, this national treasure promises to leave you with cherished memories and a newfound appreciation for the river's significance. The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area, spanning over 72 miles through Minnesota, is a haven of natural beauty and cultural heritage. From its humble beginnings at Lake Itasca to its grandeur as it flows through the Twin Cities and beyond, the Mississippi River offers a diverse range of experiences to suit every visitor's desires. One of the highlights of this area is the abundance of recreational opportunities available. Hiking and biking trails wind along the riverbanks, offering picturesque views of the waterway and its surrounding landscapes. You can paddle your way through the gentle currents, immersing yourself in the tranquility of the river. The fishing opportunities are bountiful, providing a chance to catch a variety of fish species.History comes alive within the park's boundaries, and history enthusiasts will find themselves enchanted by the stories of early explorers, Native American cultures, and the region's industrial past. Don't miss the chance to explore the restored historic sites, visitor centers, and interpretive exhibits that offer insights into the river's role in shaping the nation's history and culture. For urban explorers, the section of the river flowing through the Twin Cities provides a unique blend of natural beauty and metropolitan allure. Iconic landmarks such as the Stone Arch Bridge and St. Anthony Falls offer breathtaking views of the river and the city skyline, making it a photographer's paradise. The Mississippi National River and Recreation Area also boast abundant wildlife. Birdwatchers will delight in spotting a wide array of avian species, including bald eagles soaring above the river. Keep an eye out for playful river otters and elusive deer that call this area home.

Mr. Sam7639: Amazing for the kids

Robert Norman: Quite un informative for a n p site

Thomas Sadler Roberts Bird Sanctuary: what do users think?

Mar Mar (Jellytinkles): Have seen many birds here so it’s definitely got the correct name. Also convinced I saw a deer with CWD should have that checked out. I like walking here.

Paul Mellgren: Nice park to walk around

Abigail Brett: Really pretty, didn't see many birds but there was a little muskrat swimming in a pond and a deer peaking out of the grass at us! It was a busy time of day, maybe there are more birds when it's quieter.

Chris McDonald: Possibly my favorite little nature spot in the cities. Just stay away when I’m there thanks!

Nina Hale: A lovely walk as well as a great place for birds. Lovely as an more natural add-on to the more formal gardens on the other edge of the parking. Devoted volunteers working constantly to improve/restore the native plants. Plus a very reliable spot to here Common Yellowthroat bird, which always makes it a great day for me.

Lucia Bintner: Love this place! Always has lots of birds to spot

Kacey Borin: I’ve come here a number of times and enjoyed walking around. Happy to see some invasive species management and native habitat establishment! Parking is across from the rose garden, which my navigation doesn’t really direct to.

Catherine Anderson: Nice urban wildlife refuge! No dogs or jogging allowed and people are mostly respectful that birds are the priority. Most birdwatchers are happy to share what they see and help novices. Does not have a physical book to record species but is very well maintained. Pay parking lot so park above the rose garden on the neighborhood street to avoid a ticket. One bike rack at the trailhead and one by the lot entrance. Closest bathroom is at the of the mile trail, across the street at the lake.

Thomas Gallagher: Shhh. A wild slice of Mpls.

Sig: A beautiful chunk of nature in the middle of the city 💜

LC: Had a beautiful visit mid week, loved seeing all the beautiful birds, boats and of course, the bandshell. Definitely worth a look with the whole family!

Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge—Bloomington Education and Visitor Center: what do users think?

Mark: This is a great park, usually not too crowded during the week and walking paths that extend miles along the river. A lot of birds including some aggressive geese on the walking path this time of year. Eventually it did turn into single track and was a pleasure to run. It's nothing technical, but the views are great and the trail very enjoyable. I encountered a dozen or so turkeys and several dozens of waterfowl. I highly recommend.

Very clean and well maintained.Restrooms: I haven't been inside the warming house building, but there are restrooms. Also, a large port a potty near the basketball court.Dog-friendliness: I see people walking their dogs all the time. Some run free while chasing balls and always stay with the owners.Picnic area: There are lots of picnic tables and a covered area that you could reserve if needed. Plenty of trash cans also.

Lowell Rathbun: Another beautiful Twin Cities public park. And well used by the locals. Great for dog walking.
