Heather Kaiser: This is one of our special occasion places! The food and ambience is always so great. If you have friends visiting from out of town, this is the place you want to take to impress them. We like the bar side, but went for a date night recently and ate on the dinner side. We had an impromptu four course meal that was curated by our server. We took out time and didn't feel rushed. Every server and staff seem to be in a good mood and polite, whether they are bringing you food, cleaning your table, or passing you on your way out. I definitely recommend going about an hour before sunset. PS the setting in the former monk's quarters is beautiful.

Everyone else's food looked amazing so I'll just have to try something different next time!At the end of my meal I realized I ate almost all the pine nuts out of my pasta, so I asked Roger if he could get me some more when he boxed up my food, and he was so accommodating! Kevin Engelhardt: for the quiet, well-kept bar that is a hidden gem, and an occasional dinner/meal, when we lived in Northeast Minneapolis. So, when we were returning after a 4-year absence, we HAD to stay at the Nicollet Island Inn. We met friends and family for an afternoon and evening of dining, drinks and fun. We received superb service, unsurmountable attention to detail and delicious, splendid meals. Wow! NII sets the new gold standard for hotels and restaurants. All of us who travel regularly were amazed at the professionalism, genuine care and alacrity that we enjoyed with every encounter, every meal and every conversation. A huge thank you to Issa at the front desk, Brad in the NII bar, and Lillian and Rebecca in the restaurant. Everything was perfect. You impressed everyone who had the pleasure of interacting with each of you.Nearby activities: There is too much in the way of activities that are nearby. You are a 10 minute walk to downtown Minneapolis. You are in the famed Nordeast Minneapolis - just look up Nye's Bar or St. Anthony Main! Interstate 35W is 5 minutes away and the University is a quick drive or bike ride. Centrally located and yet quiet and tucked away from the wild life.Safety: The island is well protected and well-lit. The area is always busy with foot traffic and runners/joggers. The inn does a great job of securing the parking lot and managing their outdoor patio to buffer you from the passers-by. You forget you are in a metropolitan area. They still use physical room keys!! It is classic!Walkability: You can walk anywhere at anytime from the Nicollet Island Inn. The area is constantly "afoot" with St. Anthony Main at your doorstep and downtown Minneapolis just 10 minutes away. Everyone walks in this area no matter the season.Food & drinks: The menu at NII is amazing. Each menu offers great selections with a good range for all appetites. The staff does an excellent job of accommodating food allergen requirements without skipping a beat. The wine list is very well curated and the bartender has years of mixology experience to make you the perfect iteration of any alcoholic beverage. The NII should be at the top of you dining list when in Minneapolis!

Lynn Martin: We went early, around 7pm, on a Friday for a cocktail. Loved the atmosphere, the view and attentive, friendly service. The drinks were beautiful and tasted fantastic. It was a great place to sit and chat. I can understand how going early is key to finding a place to sit and enjoy the view. Seating is limited. We did not eat there so I can't comment on the food.

The pesto pasta was amazing, the beat salad was a surprisingly refreshing and delicious starter that I was not expecting to love as much as I did! It was all great. Would definitely recommend!

Shawn Miranda: I've had the burger 3 times and it has never been good, always over salted and over cooked. Their fried chicken sandwich however is very well made.Servers have been friendly and prompt every time. The ambience is great, the lights are dim, and it feels cozy.The music however is way too loud. At the bar, it registers on my Apple Watch at around 78-80dB.The cocktails are easily the highlight. I've had a few of the house cocktails and they've all been top tier. They also make the IBA classics extremely well. They're brave enough to offer to put an egg white in the whisky sour and it definitely pays off.

Davis Zackaria: This is a very elegant and awesome place to go for dinner. The atmosphere and service was incredible!Ordered Red lake Walleye, Chateaubriand, and creamed spinach. Loved the fish and the meat cut was juicy and delicious. Great experience!

Noel Stroner: This brunch spot is adorable and has excellent food and drinks. The service wasn’t great - no one explained to us the self serve area vs full service area when we walked in, just stared at us. Another group walked in behind us and the staff then proceeded to explain everything quite kindly to them. The staff member that took our order at the counter acted quite annoyed and barely spoke to us.

Jill LaCroix: This place is simply outstanding! Each dish somehow topped the one before it. The flavors are complex and delicious, and we had a very satisfying meal. Fun atmosphere and a great dining experience. Highly recommend!

We didnt have any questions after he walked us through the menu, he was very thorough and clear. He gave some recommendations and did not disappoint, everything tasted amazing. I will definetly be going back!

Victoria Dames: I tried several of the signature cocktails and they were lovely. Tiny, adorable, and tasty. Our wings got lost, but the staff was apologetic. I looked over the menu online before going and was hoping to order the risotto, but it wasn't on the menu in person. It was probably seasonal and the website hadn't been updated yet. I would go again, just for the ambience though.
