Stephen Tannen: Our family cannot recommend WMAC enough. The Sa Bo Nyms are firm, fair AND fun. The gender diversity is the highest of any dojang Ive visited in 30 years. Students can learn TKD, Hapkido or Kung Fu. It’s been a wonderful for our kiddos self esteem. Me? OEF USASOC Veteran and former Ranger.
Robert Ribciuc: Great program to instill self confidence, values and a growth mindset. Good mix of male and female students sends a good message that self defense and fitness are everyone’s business and further builds up confidence. Parking occasionally requires resourcefulness but there are additional paid lots and street parking nearby.
Jason Bain: I recently attended a trial for World Martial Arts Song Moo Kwan Hapkido Program. I have been a Hapkido student for several years and was very impressed with this program. First off I must say this is the most beautiful well thought out Martial Arts facility that I have ever been to.The school has a rich history and the Instructor Master Pat Carey is excellent and knowledgeable in both Hapkido and Taekwondo. The entire organization is very courteous and welcoming both students and Instructors. It can be difficult to find a Dojang teaching true and pure Hapkido that is not hybridized with Taekwondo but the school does a great job of keeping the two arts separate. I highly recommend anyone interested in an Excellent traditional Martial Arts program give World Martial Arts a try.

Grandmaster Hee Sang Ro is the best in the business. Coming from Korea in 1976, Grandmaster Hee Ro took over the operation of the school and changed the name from Karate Center to World Martial Arts Center. In 2005, Mr. Patrick Carey and Steve Wankewycz joined Grandmaster Ro in the operation of the World Martial Arts Center. If you are looking for one of the best - visit this school.

Classes are held outdoors at Todd Park (56th & Chicago) when weather permits. Otherwise classes are held in the studio at 5253 Chicago Ave. You are welcome to wear a mask, but they are no longer required.
We are accepting applications for our summer camp program, but space is limited so please make sure to contact us. We have daily field trips to locations around the Metro.
All of our classes are age and gender inclusive. We offer a unique environment emphasizing families working out together as equals while learning self defense skills in the traditional art of TaeKwonDo.
We offer an after school program, and all day camp for school break days and during the summer. These programs are completely flexible in scheduling. Students may attend as needed from 1-5 days a week.
Classes at our school are not separated by age. This makes our dojang a unique environment for a family to learn together as equals.
Children are picked up from school and dropped of at the Dojang (Studio).
Upon arriving at the Dojang, student either start on homework, or if they don't have homework they read books.
After snack, the students participate in either 2:30 class or 4:30 class and are ready for pick up when class ends.
Day Camp available all summer long AND on school release days
Children are dropped off at the Dojang (Studio) between 8:30-10:00 AM.
Morning activities vary. Sometimes we do crafts, sometimes they spend a couple hours of unstructured play time.
Once all participants for the day arrive, we leave the studio for daily field trips to parks, lakes, playgrounds, museums, etc.
After returning from our daily activity, we provide a healthy, organic snack before the children participate in 4:00 class. Children are ready for pick up when class ends at 5:00.
To teach the traditions of the Korean Martial Art of TaeKwonDo and strengthen confidence, self-discipline, and respect for others, through the physical, mental, and spiritual challenges faced and overcome in TaeKwonDo training.
At Classic TaeKwonDo Studios, we offer traditional TaeKwonDo training passed on to Mrs. Carolyn Boston from Grand Master Moon Kyu Kim. Our TaeKwonDo instruction emphasizes attitudes of respect and discipline while giving students positive feedback and technical support. Training will result in increased self discipline, self control, and respect for others.
Classic TaeKwonDo studios is owned and operated by Mrs. Carolyn Boston. Mrs. Boston has been teaching TaeKwonDo for over 40 years and has had a full time TaeKwonDo school in South Minneapolis during that time. Mrs. Boston remains passionate about the Art of TaeKwonDo and committed to providing her students excellent instruction in TaeKwonDo techniques as well as instilling a sense of pride in their accomplishments. Mrs. Boston has been a student of Grand Master Moon Kyu Kim for 40 years and has trained under his Master Instructor in Munich, Germany.
Mikaela (left) has been at the dojang since she was 1 week old. She began training at age 5.
She earned her 1st Dan black belt under Mrs. Boston and Grand Master Moon Kim in 2014.
Mikaela is an integral business partner and co-instructor. She develops the programming for the youth summer camp and day camps.
Jarydd has been learning TaeKwonDo for 28 years. He has always had a love of teaching which has led him to earning his Master’s degree in Education and he has been teaching full time since then.
Jarydd earned his 1st Dan Blackbelt in 2012 and has been working at Classic TaeKwonDo Studios for over 17 years. He currently coordinates technology and leads camp activities while also being a co-instructor.
Classic TaeKwonDo Studios has installed solar panels to help move towards cleaner, more renewable energy solutions.
We emphasize recycling and composting with our youth programs and encourage youth to minimize waste.
To keep our students as safe as possible on the days we hold class indoors, we have UV Sanitation installed in our air filtration system.

Ali Swanson: I was hesitant at first, as it is a rather large weekly commitment of time and finances. However, watching my kindergartener thrive over the past four months has made it completely worth it! I highly recommend Chang’s to all, especially to parents struggling with kids that may be a little more neurodiverse / ADHD. The change in demeanor as far as gratitude, self confidence, discipline, and overall growth has been truly remarkable. The instructors are phenomenal and really make the classes feel like a community.

Anonymous: I waited for sometime to write this review so I have time to fully evaluate this school. My kids have been attending Master Moon’s TKD for a number of months now and we are extremely pleased with everything.I have since visited several other closer martial art schools for myself and none compare to Master Moon’s in frankly any aspect that I care about. The mat of one the schools was so stinky I could not bend down to do my stretches, the other one the present Master walked over the mat on his shoes, etc etc. You see none of that here.The professionalism, friendliness and expertise of the staff at all levels provide an outstanding experience for the partitioners and has been the best I have seen. It is amazing that you see the same gentle discipline, patience and professionalism in even their junior instructors who are sometimes so young. My kids have learned so much during their Time at Master Moon. Particularly that they need to still work hard when they are discouraged or disappointed but with hard work they go beyond the limits of what they thought they were able to do. The best part is that, they truly love and enjoy their class time and look forward to every session.I cannot say enough good things about Master Moon himself. He still regularly teaches some of the classes and you can see from his interactions that he deeply cares about advancing his students and has a superb way of giving them actionable feedback in a fun context.I saw some reviews that talked about the cost. Compared to the four other schools I checked this school has the same or less tuition minus their drawbacks plus unlike some of the other ones they do not restrict you to one or two session per week. I am happy I could provide my kids with the gift of learning TKD in this school.

Alex Marschner: We have been going as a family to Master Moon's for several months and it has been a confidence and focus builder for the kids and a great workout for the adults. The little tigers class is great for the under-6 set with more energy than focus. The kids belt classes incorporate more control and work to build athleticism and martial arts skills. All of the instructors take care to match students of similar height and ability as there is a large age range across each belt. Adult classes are typically later in the evening or at lunch time and it is a great workout break if you can make it. The dojang is very conveniently located and class attendance is flexible so you can attend the classes that work for you.I see that some of the lower reviews focus on the cost, and it is true that this is not a cheap hobby/sport/activity. I see the value in having a class structure that encourages participation and provides not just an all-around workout but a path to progression that keeps me engaged and actually using the money I'm spending on membership.Sparring is not mandatory, but if that interests you there are classes specifically for sparring at different times during the week.One last thing - I really appreciate the serious approach to health and safety that the dojang has taken during the pandemic. We are all ready to get back out and start living life again, and the masking and distancing that the dojang has enforced have helped us do so earlier than would have been otherwise advisable.Update - coming up on one year and we're really seeing the kids growth in focus and physical skill.Update at a year and a half! You really get as much out of it as you put in. Resetting priorities after the holidays and jumping back in is hard, but the physical benefits are worth it.

The instructors are highly experienced, knowledgeable and friendly and develop students across all skill levels - whether you’re a beginner or advanced. If you’re tired of the usual gym routine, I’d highly recommend you check them out if you’re looking to get in shape, learn a lot, and have some fun along the way.

Lee Valle: . It is a professional dojang, with the Masters and instructors all very friendly, and make the workout both effective and very fun. I go three times a week and it helps me to be in better physical shape, learn self defense and is one of the best activities with our grandkids we could have. Classes not only surround belt color but also building families, with several family time options each week. Should you join, you will not be disappointed and I give them my highest recommendation. I love it!

They not only teach them martial arts, but leadership qualities like responsibility, integrity and communication along with helping them build their physical strength through engaging athletic drills.There have been a few reviews that talked about cost. I'm not going to debate what one person finds too expensive, but consider that Master Moon is a highly experienced 7th dan blackbelt and a solid teacher from what I've seen to date. You get what you pay for, but it does cost money. You pay for monthly enrollment, a fee for each belt test
