She knew which Hom Depot store sells them because when she goes to other Hom Depot stores when she is near them and checks out what they have for inventory that she doesn’t have at this store!!!Ruth is such a great employee and certainly deserves recognition for her great customer service and subject matter expertise in electrical and lighting. Settergren Hardware Furniture and undertaking was founded by Will and Gus Settergren in 1895, in Grove City/Litchfield. These stores were open until 1922. Two years later, Will asked Carl Settergren, Marks grandfather, to go into business. They opened Settergren Hardware on 27th and East Lake Street in 1924. In 1947, Dale and Carl become business partners at the East Lake store. In 1948, a fire destroys the store, but six month later they reopen. Carl stayed there until it closed in 1969. On September 1st, 1957 Dale and Phil opened Settergren Hardware on 54th and Penn. In 1986 Mark purchases Simms Hardware in Dinkytown. Four years later, Mark still worked at Simms, Mark and Dave Svobodny purchase Richfield Hardware on 54th & Nicollet, and changed the name to Diamond Lake Hardware. In 1995, Mark sold Simms Hardware, and Mark & Dave purchased Settergren Hardware on 54th and Penn from Dale & Phil. On Oct 29th, 2012 Mark & Dave opened there 3rd location Settergrens of Linden Hills.

I'd give them 6 stars if I could.Prices can be a little higher than big box stores, but in terms of convenience , customer service, and knowledgeable staff, this place is the best. I find myself heading over when I'm mid-project and realize that I just need one or two small things to complete it. They always have several friendly people on staff that are assertive about helping you find what you need, and often willing to give you advice on your project too if you've got questions or concerns. You can be in and out of the store in minutes too. If you're in the neighborhood, I strongly recommend checking this place out.

Lee Kafkas: Super helpful people there to help you troubleshoot your problems.Service is definitely five star.The place is smaller and might not have everything you need in a hardware store, but you can get 80 to 90% of what you need. And like smaller hardware stores. They really excel at services or recommendations for a homeowner. I believe they cut glass and work on window and door screens as well.

Nathan Thimmesch: I needed a fan for my bathroom. They showed one in stock, that I could pick up today when I checked online. Everywhere else showed pick up for a few days out. So I went here. When I got in the door there were a couple of employees around the counter doing various things that I really didn't pay attention to. One asked if I needed help. I asked my question and another responded with the exact location. As I was going there. I walked by a customer talking to another employee. I could hear their conversation quite well as I was looking at my options for the fans, he was going in depth on the product she was looking at. With very good information. This being the first time I have been to this store. Seeing that, and looking at what they had around. I was sad I've lived so close for so long and had not thought about coming here. I know it's not as big as Home Depot, or the likes. But I'm going to come here first for all my needs before going elsewhere! I've not had that kind of perfect amount of help, or feel of knowledge on products from any of the bigger stores.

I am currently building a new home and on one occasion Tom answered a bunch of my newbie questions about millwork, and on another visit Peter answered more of my questions and helped me get all of the interior doors and millwork for my house ordered & scheduled for delivery! These guys made it so easy and alleviated a lot of my stress around this big project!
