The Meditation Center: what do users think?

Michael Freeman: Just being in this space lose my heart and soul.

Kathryn Dopkins: Positive:Professionalism,QualityBegan taking classes as a teenager, member since my 20s, am now in my 60s. Led by kind and loving people. Sage guidance for living a compassionate and peaceful life. Classes now on Zoom. Highly recommend for everyone!

Crystal Cohen: Everyone here is so nice and informative with the classes. I would highly recommend to anyone.

Skip: My window to the infinite.

Eric Ness: I have been participating in the Meditation Center community since the late 1990s and it has provided a number of great friendships as well as a framework to make life choices. I feel confident that the spiritual teachings that I get there are authentic and practical and will help me improve my life. Although I have been going there for many years, the experience is always fresh and I feel like I'm just scratching the surface of what the teachers have to offer. I recommend checking it out to anyone who wants to find more peace and meaning in their life.

Barbra Bloy: A very welcoming place. Here you will find Yoga classes, lectures and community. A place to learn about the ancient tradition of Yoga from the Himalayan Mountains of Northern India. This is a great place if you are interested in Hatha Yoga and also meditation and the many ancient spiritual practices of the Yoga tradition. Yoga is more than just a physical exercise!

Rhonda Peters: The Meditation Center offers everyone the opportunity to go deeper into Meditation and Yoga then is found in most places. The bookstore has great resources, the community is warm and friendly, and the classes and workshops are a tremendous resource. What an incredible blessing to have found this place back in 2000. I always come back, again and again!

Brian: An amazing find. Applying the teachings and techniques learned at classes over the years have had a profoundly positive effect on my life. Absolutely worth a visit.

Deepika Appana: The meditation center is a wonderful community. It helped us with our practices. We love it here.i would really recommend this place for a pure experience. It is not commercially motivated like most other places.

Glenna Case: I’ve been going to The Meditation Center for yoga, meditation, community, and education on the spiritual psychology and philosophy of Yoga for several years. The Center is very welcoming and supportive. The classes are great. The Center, while premised on the Himalayan Yoga Tradition, respects all spiritual paths. Classes are taught by excellent local teachers as well as internationally recognized teachers from around the country and the world. The Yoga taught here is not your LifeTime Fitness Style Power Yoga. The Center understands Yoga as restorative of your body, mind, and spirit. It is a gentle, spiritual approach to Yoga that resonates with me. I’m so glad I found this place and community.

Sunita Gangopadhyay: A fantastic, warm place to learn deep meditation and yoga originating from ancient Himalayan traditions in India. Check out the center website for details on various classes and speaker series. My favourite is Sunday Satsang and Thursday evenings. It's a place to meet like minded people, as well as contribute to the society.

Tasha Nienow: I've taken classes and workshops at Nokomis Yoga for years. It's a hidden gem! The owner, Solveig, is extremely knowledgeable about yoga and meditation, and she has a warm and supportive presence in class. Her classes are restorative and cultivate a greater self awareness. I highly recommend her studio.

Frances Olimb: Nokomis Yoga with Solveig is the best….a cozy, comfy space in a quaint and homey neighborhood…and Solveig is a most accommodating instructor, absolute must!

Colleen Malone: Solveig has a wonderful yoga studio & is an excellent teacher. She explains & shows yoga moves before you do them in class so you will have less questions & understand what you are doing next. Her classes are fabulous!!

Carol Rone: Solveig is a wonderful teacher-helpful, patient and very motivating. Small classes and the personal attention make this a great studio

Kristin Lyngaas: This yoga studio is phenomenal. Many different levels and classes! Solveig is so kind and the studio is spacious and inviting. Can’t wait until I have class again.

Carol Singer: Lovely space for doing yoga. I love that I can learn and practice at my own fitness level without feeling intimidated.

Deb Brisch-Cramer: Have been going to Nokomis for over 10 years. The Restorative Yoga is one of a kind---my sister was visiting from Florida and I took her to Solveig's class. She's loved it and has never been able to find another restorative yoga class as good!

Kathryn Graves: I have been going to Nokomis Yoga for over 10 years--Solveig is a wonderful instructor.

Maureen R: , and it's been both body and life changing. It's such an inclusive and supportive style of yoga that most anyone can do and benefit from, and Solveig is a wonderful teacher who takes the time and care to make sure everyone gets the most out of every class or therapy session she guides. I can't recommend this yoga style, this yoga studio or Solveig enough!

Katie Mortenson: Solveig is fantastic - such a calm, relaxing class with gentle and encouraging guidance. Svaroopa yoga is especially great for my back and neck and also quiets my mind. I never liked other yoga classes and couldn't do a lot of the balancing they required, but this one is mostly on the ground and much better for me. Studio is cozy, sunny and casual.

donna lawton: I've practiced yoga my entire adult life and Nokomis Yoga is by far the best!!! Solveig is an extraordinary teacher. Her skills, knowledge and warmth are such a gift. The benefits I receive from attending classes at Nokomis Yoga are immeasurable. I'm so grateful!

Patty Rees: Svaroopa yoga at Nokomis Yoga is wonderful. Anyone can practice Svaroopa yoga no matter your age or fitness level. The poses are gentle and help release tension/pain in your body and calms your mind. Solveig is a great instructor and will make you feel welcome. I encourage everyone to try it!

Alysse Thibodeau: Svaroopa yoga sessions with Solveig are phenomenal. I have been going for years and enjoy each time I go. It feels restorative and relaxing!

Anna Mier: They are still offering classes via zoom. And by appointment private classes. Svaroopa yoga has made a tremendous difference in my back. This place has warm and welcoming energy. The instructors are knowledgeable, kind and patient.

Bridget Jordan: 2015 update: attended Myra's vinyasa class tonight and it was AMAZING! Great instructors and very personalized service. They are extremely helpful and available to help you adapt the poses to your body and level of flexibility/strength/injuries etc. Highly recommend this neighborhood studio, much nicer then the overcrowded gym classes I have taken before.2016 update: I just took Sarah's baby bonding class and it was fantastic. Personalized attention for you and your baby. Lots of attention paid to baby but also to mom and focusing on our recovering bits! Baby loved looking around and it was fun to use baby as a counterweight in some poses. Highly recommend.

Holly LaBerge: Starting your day with yoga brings presence to the rest of your day. If you are interested in starting a regular morning practice, I recommend going to Gentle Morning Stretch with Deb Hennen-Bergman. A very effective way to infuse your whole day with mindfulness.

Sharon Parker: It's wonderful how Jinjer adapts the poses as needed for those who have physical limitations of one kind or another; and I appreciate her cheerful demeanor and sense of humor. Highly recommended!

Jo Ellen Davis: I met Solveig at meetings of Friends of the Nokomis Community Library. Through the Friend's group I found out about her Nokomis Yoga Studio. I have been attending her Wednesday morning Restorative Yoga classes and have been greatly impressed with her individual attention to her students/clients during the small group classes. She incorporates adaptive props and methods to repair existing pain and damage and to prevent further injury. It is a calming and indeed restorative education in the practice of Yoga. I thoroughly enjoy my time spent there. I can feel the changes in my flexibility, my attention to my own body, and my thoughts.

Nora Beckjord: I have only been to 2 of Solveig's classes but I enjoyed both of them very much. Solveig is a wonderful teacher and her studio is bright and cheerful. I have recommended Nokomis Yoga to several students in the neighborhood and will continue to do so.Namaste,Nora

Yess Yoga: what do users think?

Liz Campbell: I first discovered Yess at the Mill City Famers Market summer market yoga several years ago. I immediately knew that the classes offered by Yess felt different than that offered by any of the other studios that summer, and different from any classes I had ever attended. Later when I decided to pursue my teacher training, I knew exactly where I hoped to study. Completing my 200-hr teacher training with Yess was as such an incredible experience, and only grew my appreciation for the studio and their wonderful instructors even more. I’m SO grateful to have Yess in our community 🧡.

Callie .Lentz: I started taking classes here about a month ago and absolutely love it! Every teacher is so welcoming and the studio is gorgeous. Very accommodating to different bodies and skill levels!

Marissa Torres-Bertram: Yess Yoga does an amazing job of creating an inclusive, wonderful, and inviting space. I love the variety of classes they offer and every teacher who I have taken class with has been amazing. After chatting with Lucia, I decided to do my 300hr. YTT with the studio and do not regret it. It has been such a great experience and I cannot recommend the studio, the space, and the teachers enough. Everyone is so knowledgable, welcoming and supportive and I am so grateful to be a part of such a kind community.

Mariah H: I cannot recommend Yess Yoga highly enough. I've been attending yoga here for over 2 years and love so much about this studio. It's the first place I've done yoga that really genuinely feels like a community and a welcoming place for all who want to explore and practice yoga. The space is beautiful and has an inviting warmth to it, and all the teachers have a similar welcoming, kind, supportive energy. I've really felt so supported and my yoga practice and personal growth have benefited greatly from being a part of this community.

Annie A.: Yess Yoga is the foundation of my feelings of home in Minneapolis -- I love teaching and practicing here. Lucia and this studio encourage you to be your whole self, always. I've walked in the doors with eyes full of tears and other days with belly-aching laughter. I've practiced yoga here in states of grief, joy, loneliness, and inspiration. In these gem-stone lined studio walls, I've grown as a teacher, a student, a friend, and learned what it means to be a part of an authentically loving and generous community. This studio shares movement practices that are responsive to the needs of Minneapolis residents and to the state of the world. We practice yoga and somatics for the purpose of embodying true connection, belonging, and body sovereignty, and for uplifting those essential elements of life everywhere we go.

Kristin Sievers: If you're looking for a supportive, magical, and heart-centered community, Yess Yoga is that and SO much more! As as student, teacher, and friend to this community, I can say with certainty, it has changed my life. From the feeling you get walking into the beautiful studio to the warm welcome of each teacher and their unique class, there's nothing better than Yess! There aren't enough words to describe it, I urge & welcome you to FEEL it for yourself.

Ashley Theissen: I love Yess Yoga! The studio itself is beautiful, the instructors are intuitive and welcoming, and the community is real. I feel grounded when I walk in the door. The weekly class schedule has something for everyone whether you are feeling high or low energy, or simply need a place to safely connect to your body.I moved to Minneapolis last year, and a huge part of why I now feel at home here is because of Yess. The first time I visited the studio, I saw the one million plants and the "This is a Body Positive Space" poster in the bathroom and I knew I was in the right place.I have made friends and learned a lot through classes and training weekends, and now, as an instructor, my feeling of connection to the beautiful community at Yess has deepened even more. Thank you, Lucia, for creating such a unique place to practice and teach.

Vanessa Watkins-Morris: This studio is amazing!! I received my 200 YT training here and it was such a magical and life changing experience. I also come to multiple classes and every teacher has their own styles that are creative and authentic.

Keith Kostman: From the minute that I walked into the studio, I knew that I was in the right place. Yess Yoga changed my life. I’ve been a student here and a teacher. In one word, I can sum it up, community. You feel at home. The teachers are amazing. The space is amazing. There is something for everybody here. All are welcomed and all are loved. I can’t recommend this place enough.

J: Best yoga studio I’ve ever been to. Learned so much from their classes over the years! Lucia is an angel, and all the teachers are too. Incredible community here.

Rebecca Woodall: We were only in Whittier, Minneapolis for a few days but I was able to drop in to Lucia's Aquarius class. Lucia was so welcoming. The studio is a beautiful space and I loved her teaching style. If only we lived closer.

Elizabeth Mullen: Welcoming, inclusive, positive-space/energy are just a few ways to describe Yess Yoga. The community has a great vibe and the space is beautiful. The unique aspect of Yess is how the teachers present their instruction as suggestions, where your free movement is encouraged. This approach allows you to make the most of your practice, no matter what your body feels that day or your skill level.

Liz Flavin: From the moment I first walked into Yess Yoga, I could sense there was something special about the studio. In addition to the stunning aesthetic, the heart-centered staff and the community of yogi's all contribute to an experience that is welcoming, nurturing and inclusive. I highly recommend Yess Yoga and truly believe there is something for everyone within it's walls.

Ann Asche: More than a yoga practice, Yess Yoga is an inclusive space, a warm and welcome environment to come home to. It's about community, authenticity, acceptance, and coming to your mat as you are. I appreciate the varied yoga classes and the unique styles of each instructor. The space itself is beautiful, with welcoming plants, subtle earthy scents, and big windows spilling natural light. I dearly love this studio and the whole community in it!

JP Peanasky: Yess Yoga is such a beautiful space. Each teacher brings a personal and unique lens to their classes, while respecting the roots of Yoga. From the first day I stepped into the studio I was welcomed with open arms into a supportive community. I would highly recommend Yess to anyone looking for a studio to practice at or looking for a teacher training to deepen their practice.

Mary Noble: Yess offers an absolutely joyous, and grounding experience in which to practice Yoga!! From the moment one walks into the space, one is greeted with warmth, love, and a calming ambiance,The air smells gently of soothing incense; the studios brims with plants, and depending on the hour, there is candlelight signaling a quiet reverence. Each teacher brings their own impressive body of work, and allows for all different styles to be practiced. Lucia has created a safe and loving place to be yourself, and to be in community with all. My absolute favorite place to practice!!

Kelly Hookham: have had on me. Thank you!

Phillip Trebatoski: The staff, the atmosphere, and the energy at Yess Yoga are second to none in the metro area. If you’re looking for a beautiful, clean yoga studio that tends to the mind, body and spirit, this is the place.

Yoga Sanctuary: what do users think?

bill ehrich: Tracy was amazing today.

nacole kaai: I came to Yoga Sanctuary through a flyer about their teacher training. I'm now participating in their training and have taken numerous yoga classes and workshops. Yoga Sanctuary is special as you can come as you are. There is a class for everyone including on zoom. I've really grown in my practice and it has been incredible to have found this community.

Shalon Johnson: I took the Holistic Hatha Yoga with Laura and had a really great experience. It was a really great restorative class. Laura was very knowledgeable and friendly. She offered a lot of instructions as well as modifications. The class was a slower pace that focused in on noticing how the body felt and moved to each poses. It allowed me to focus in on my body to where I had tension or stagnant energy. Really great class! I would highly recommend. I left feeling so much more grounded.

Rita: Highly recommend! This is a holistic yoga experience that strengthens me both emotionally and physically. The teachers are fantastic and all are dedicated to creating a personable environment that is welcoming to all. I've practiced yoga here for about 10 years, and it far surpasses all other studios I've been to. Yoga Sanctuary grounds me and helps me have a calm, peaceful approach to all challenges of life.

Mel Schneider: Yoga Sanctuary is the only yoga studio where I ever felt at home. They take community very seriously, and it shows. I felt like I belonged to a community, a family, a practice. I felt cared for as a person, not just a customer. I love how holistic their classes and offerings are--they know that being healthy is about more than just exercise, it's about nutrition, mindfulness, connection, belonging, and so much more. If you're looking for a place to grow in community, Yoga Sanctuary is a great place to do so.

Danielle Aba-Onu: Warm, inviting studio environment. Classes that consider supporting and moving the whole person inside and out. Friendly community and instructors. So grateful for this sanctuary to find grounding, balance, and sense of community.

Krista Lindgren: I have thoroughly enjoyed my multiple years of practice at the yoga sanctuary. I would recommend this studio to anyone. The teachers are very knowledgeable and the yoga community is very welcoming. Yoga Sanctuary has a variety of classes to choose from such as Vinyasa, Hatha, Restorative, and so on. The teachers offer modifications throughout the class to make the poses easier or harder so that you can tailor your practice to your needs.

Connor McDougal: Beautiful studio!

Ben Stewart: Yoga Sanctuary is a wonderful yoga studio that offers a wide range of class types and an environment that is welcoming for all. Over the summer they also offer classes in the rose garden which is a fun alternative to being in studio!

Nordeast Yoga: what do users think?

Michael Millios: Amazing space with welcoming people. I loved the 5pm gentle practice. It was the right amount of movement, meditation, and rest. It’s tricky to find so give yourself a few extra minutes. But plenty of parking on the street.

Laurie Schlosser: I LOVE Nordeast yoga!!! Annie is an authentic instructor with years of experience. I leave her classes leaving refreshed and relaxed. She makes classes accessible to all bodies and makes room for different levels of experience.

Nell Benson: I've been practicing yoga for many years across several studios and athletic clubs, and Nordeast Yoga is hands down the most fabulous and authentic yoga option in the city. Nordeast has something for everyone. The owner Annie offers a wide variety of classes, all of which can be modified to broad levels of experience. Every class is uniquely catered to the needs of the group on any given day, and you will leave feeling a million times better than when you arrived. Classes range from restorative, to challenging flow, to Ashtanga, and everything in between. You will breathe, listen to great music, enjoy the awesome community of students, learn about origins of poses and yoga in general, shake off your stress, and have a blast. This is not your average gym/yoga routine situation, its really special. Don't miss out on this gem!

Rebecca Keyes: A beautiful and welcoming space.

Kenda Flaks: Dropped in for a morning Ashtanga practice. Friendly and welcoming teacher.

Krastina Petrova: Very nice atmosphere and great teacher!

Keely King: Deep stretching that is one of my faves classes of all time! Really cool place to get to know a lot of local Yogi's. The teachers here are great lots of guest instructors you can very affordable come 2 experience their particular specialty and style of teaching.

Rebekah West: I have been going to Annies classes for almost 8 years now and honestly don't know where I would be without her! Whether she knows it or not, Annie has helped me get through a lot of challenges in this life. No matter how tired I am, I am always so glad when I make myself get off my butt and on my mat. She gives you the tools and guidance that you need but the freedom to make every class your own. She tells stories, makes the best playlists, is uplifting, calming and energizing at the same time, funny...she is a rockstar in the yoga world and is constantly seeking ways to grow and expand her own knowledge so that we can benefit. The studio that she started in Northeast is so welcoming and has grown to include a lot of other really amazing teachers. This is the yoga studio for everybody!

Nick Augustin: I am not any kind of yoga veteran, as I only started dabbling about 12 months ago at my former employer, but I have become addicted to this studio and it's Tuesday evening class with Christy. It's a great space in a great location. The atmosphere invites one to push your personal edges while allowing for failure... if that makes sense.

Heather Alderink: Annie Hansen is amazing and the studio is above Erte so post yoga wine is a double bonus.

Patti Pinkerton: I have been going for a short while since i moved to this side of the river. All i can say is, there is no other studio that can live up to Annies. Today i had to tell her that i had an uncontrollable smile on my face for the last 1/2 hour of her class. Seriously, and it was a grey monday ! she is amazing, as well as the people who come to her studio. It is the old "law of attraction" concept....she makes it very special.

Frances Jarmick: A comfortable venue for all levels of yogis! Before starting at Nordeast Yoga last year I had dabbled in yoga and Pilates, but was not sold. After a class or two at Nordeast I realized what I had been missing by not attending classes from an experienced and committed teacher. One of only a few studios that offers astanga yoga, I was comfortable starting as a beginner and have progressed in my practice under Annie's incredible instruction. The balance of strength, flexibility, mindfulness, and meditation practice in every class makes this studio unlike any other. Bravo!

KAREN MACMURDO: First, the studio space is perfect...warm, with wood floors and some exposed brick. The natural light that floods the studio during the day makes the space incredibly inviting. More importantly, Annie Hanson is an incredible yoga instructor. Her ability to seamlessly teach brand new yogis and very experienced yogis in the same class is remarkable. Her classes have just the perfect amount of physical challenge, a touch of historical and spiritual teaching, and fun. You will smile or laugh at least once during each practice! All the classes are truly open and accessible to newbies and across the spectrum to the most experienced.

Aleksandar Nedich: Nordeast Yoga is a wonderfully charming place filled with great style and ambiance. It is a blessing to have a new refreshing yoga studio to help boost and support the growing need for Yoga in Northeast Minneapolis. Annie is a wonderful instructor, Person and friend. Im so proud of her. go visit Nordeast Yoga and you will be sold. Big thumbs up!

Common Ground Meditation Center: what do users think?

Dylan Woodward: . Guiding teachers are very warm and helpful in assisting community members learn about Theravada Buddhism and meditation. Many options for attending dharma talks, meditation periods daily , and can attend in person or via zoom making the teachings available to people located anywhere with internet connection

Rebecca T.: Great center for supporting mindfulness practice. The retreat center is a wonderful setting to support another level of practice.

Miles Kelly: This is the best dharma center in the US!! Taking me ten years but am finally moving from Seattle to Minneapolis just to be able to be apart of this beautiful community with 'the real deal' teachers and leaders this society desperately needs! No thrills or entertainment, genuine practitioners with big hearts and sincere aspirations! Bravo Mark for diligently cultivating a practice that pulled you into helping point out the bumpy spiritual road. Your teaching style inspired regular hard working people to want more in life than external stuff!

Amanda Gehman: Mark Nunberg is an excellent guiding teacher for those who are both new to Buddhism and for those who have been practicing for quite a while. The quality of visiting teachers and others who lead the weekly Dharma talks is fantastic. Common Ground is a highly supportive and giving community that I have loved being a part of for over a decade. Despite moving out of Minnesota years ago, we continue to be involved with the community from afar. I can sincerely say that Common Ground has been life changing for me and has made me into a kinder, happier person who is more peaceful in life.

Kylo Everetts: Incredible establishment, great people here. Love it.

Emma McKhann: Amazing community resource. Endless programs and incredible teachers. A warm and welcoming space for everyone

Christopher Nibley: So much to say but I'll keep it short. I can't stand courts and can't stand the idea of paying an attorney 20 to 30% of everything I've worked for just to get a divorce. Luckily, I was recommended to these guys from a friend who went through a worse divorce than mine. My divorce was done in about two months and for a fraction of the price. It was still hard and there were bumps but David was there to come up with solutions and work us through it and ultimately got it across the finish line so we could all get on with our lives. There have been issues since the divorce was finalized and David has continued to support me through those. Going through divorce has been horrible but it could have been exponentially worse if I didn't have a good mediator.

Laura Hall: I have come on and off to Common Ground over the last few years. What always seems to bring me back to the Center is the teachers' ability to simplify and make the Buddhist teachings accessible to most everyone. Thank you!

Steph Romero: Very inclusive and calming space
