The Movement Minneapolis Gym: what do users think?

Ian Maher: Amazing functional strength and barbell training gym. I've done Crossfit and powerlifting. They've got me stronger than I've been in a long time and healthier than I've been in my adult life. Great coaching, incredible programming, and the biofeedback basics allows for regular variation in core lifts to reduce injury while still allowing continued progress with major muscle groups.

Nina Goldberg: The Movement is absolutely a hidden gem. A year ago I started working out here in order to get stronger, lose weight and improve the health of my low back after surgery. My expectations were beyond met. I have lost weight and am stronger than I’ve ever been in my life. The shape of my body has changed and I feel strong and powerful not just in the gym but in my daily life. The way I move about and do everyday activities has changed because I can actually feel my muscles all the time! I don’t get bored with the gym routine because it changes often. As someone who doesn’t love to workout and wasn’t confident with heavy lifting, I love having help nearby at all times. After a scary back injury, I can finally trust what my body is capable of thanks to The Movement. Every trainer is kind and welcoming, ready to offer tips and advice. There is no judgement or pressure, and I’m never expected to do something that hurts. Finally, hard work and heavy lifting that FEELS GOOD! What?!? No matter who you are, this gym has something very special to offer!

Andrew Legrid: I can't say enough good things about this place. More than anything it's a wonderful and positive community of people--both the staff and other members. It really feels like you're a part of something being there and I know they are very intentional about making the place that kind of environment. I always felt even on my worst days the staff and fellow members would say or do something to make me feel more positive about where I was at fitness-wise and just feel positive about my experience. It helped me to find joy and fun in my own fitness goals, which is how it should be. The individual attention is wonderful and you're absolutely met where you're at and made to feel okay about that while still being ambitious about your goals. It's a warm, welcoming, affirming, and justice-oriented community of people. I can't recommend the place enough.

Susan Gaines: The Movement welcomes every body, everyone, to get strong according to where you are right now. It is fun, low key and motivating. It’s a great place for people who don’t like the traditional gym setting. I have been there for more than 5 years and I’ve gotten stronger without injury, with support and encouragement.

Anita Chikkatur: the difference between a trap bar, Jefferson, and sumo deadlift. I've never stuck with a gym for more than a few months so the fact that I'm still here and going regularly after 20 months is in itself a testament to the supportive and informed approach that all the coaches here take to strength training.

Jacob Morse: injury rap sheet. Rather than fear mongering about limitations and liabilities, this place has a "we'll find what you can do and work from there" attitude. Broken or injured in some way or another? That's cool, not only do they have a highly qualified DPT that works there, they'll also find ways to make you strong if you're healing from something more acute.

Stuart Blessman: Movement Minneapolis is literally a life changing gym and community. From the care and attention the trainers give to each member, to the guided workouts and custom fitness assessments the staff conducts, it's been a core part of my life and community for the last few years and has helped me lose over 80 lbs and develop a brand new life.

p z: I've never been a gym type of guy, but a friend recommended this place to me after I had some nagging sports injuries. Great knowledgeable trainers, small groups that are cool and inclusive, one-on-one feedback. It's a really great gym.

John Hansen: After 5 years, I can definitely say this place keeps me coming back. The warm welcoming environment has helped me become consistent and meet my training goals. The practical efficient programming has given me better results than I have experienced at other gyms and with less of the agony. I still hit new PRs after all of these years too. I couldn’t be happier.

Spencer Gifford: Been going here off and on for about a year. The owner, David, is approachable and friendly. The rest of the staff are also awesome. I'd recommend this gym to anyone looking for a group atmosphere and wanting to get in serious shape. I left for a few months and realized with going here three times a week VS a regular gym I was in better shape than I ever was.5/5

Hemant Sethi: My experience with The Movement has been nothing short of incredible!Very solid community of people working hard to make themselves and people around them better. Every workout is extensively planned by the trainers and no two sessions are the same to keep things interesting. The trainers are very easy to approach and know what they are doing/talking about. The best part is that they make you set goals for yourself and help you get closer to them in every way possible. If I remember correctly, the first session is free, so give it a shot and I bet you won't regret it!PS: The Movement recently started a Run Club which I am very excited about!!

Elan Malrose: The movement is the most amazing gym in minneapolis/st.paul if not the whole world. I started the gym at age 21 and went all through my first pregnancy and the trainers, the program, everything was perfect for every stage of life. If you want to get stronger physically, mentally, and emotionally GO HERE! They have made something truly special here.

Abbie Elsner: I've ever known, great workouts; I saw incredible results and made life long friendships!

Dustine Stevens: Cool.place with really great owners and members

Solcana Fitness: what do users think?

Kyle H: Wonderful gym! The trainers are knowledgeable, enthusiastic, attentive, and helpful. The people are incredibly nice, accepting, and supportive of a variety of body types and ability levels. The classes offer a great variety with lots of timeslots. There are also daily "recesses" where you can do whatever you'd like outside of a class. They're incredibly LGBTQIA+ accepting. I've always felt welcomed.

Terry J: You could not find a more welcoming community to start or continue your fitness journey. Whatever that may look like. Love everything about it thus far!

Claire Baglien: Words don’t express how much of a difference it makes to be surrounded by supportive people instead of gym bros. The community at Solcana gives me so much more than just incredible and fun workouts. I feel encouraged to do what’s best for my body and didn’t have to deal with toxic weight loss culture messaging. The coaches give so many alternative options for an exercise and I always learn something new.

Raven Dewitt: Nearly a year ago I signed up for a beginner class at Solcana and was terrified. I had never been to a gym before, and quite honestly was too intimidated to attempt lifting heavier weights on my own. The empower class gave me the confidence I needed to continue my journey and now, almost a year later you will find me at Solcana several times a week! The coaches are so encouraging and helpful and the community is incredible. I have never felt stronger in my life. Solcana is the best!

Darcie Vandegrift: Friendly gym with welcoming vibe for all. LGBTQ+, size and age diverse, women-owned. I’m in the 50+ class and have never worked out in such a supportive environment. Make extra time to find parking in the evening.

Elea Besse: Everyone was so welcoming and friendly! Had a great workout 💪

Morgan Bolstad: Truly the most comfortable and rewarding gym experience I've ever had! The coaches are patient, knowledgeable, kind, ability-inclusive, and helpful. I have loved every workout because of the atmosphere here

Ashley Stephens: I really enjoyed the virtual postpartum class. It was easy to fit in exercises at my own pace around newborn care. It gave me the foundation to get back into more vigorous exercise.

Brenda Falk: I am in town for work for two weeks and wanted to try out a local gym that might be similar to the classes I take at home. Solcana’s Sunday community class sounded perfect! Unfortunately when I arrived, I learned that the class had been cancelled - however, Cate and her team were so welcoming, it only made me more interested in joining their community! They graciously encouraged me to make myself at home in their gym and use their facilities on my own. This experience has me wishing I lived in Minneapolis - Solcana has clearly created something special here!

Katherine Shane: strength classes, etc. Incredibly body positve, to the degree that i have never heard any staff ever initiate a conversation about weightloss or muscle building unless someone asked first. Even then, its hardly ever mentioned. I have always felt welcome safe and included as short, wide, queer, late 50s woman with injury restrictions. It's one of the only places where I can say things like 'l am a power lifter' and no one looks at me like I am nuts, or 'oh that's so cute she thinks she can lift things' or like I am some super role model. I am just an athlete like anyone else.

Kelsey Callahan: Solcana is wonderful!!! The people who attend class, and the coaches are all amazing and supportive! If you are looking for a place to feel comfortable and welcome in your exercise journey Solcana is the place!

Mia Farinas: Best gym ever! I joined Solcana as a newbie to lifting, and my relationship to fitness has totally changed in my year as a member. For the first time in my life, I really look forward to going to the gym! The friendly, nonjudgemental environment and all of the modifications that coaches offer have been really helpful in making me feel comfortable to get started, and learning what my body needs. The community at Solcana is unbeatable– it is such a treat to work out with so many fun, kind people who are all working on their own personal goals.

Kris T: Being an older person brand new to this kind of fitness in 2021, I was a bit overwhelmed to try Solcana. It didn't take long to love it - the fitness AND the community. I felt welcomed and supported from day one. The coaches and the athletes make Solcana a thing of beauty supporting each other to do and be their best, whatever that looks like for them. I am inspired every time I come to Solcana because of how all types of bodies are welcomed and show up, getting strong and pushing through hard stuff together. Flash forward to 2+ years later: I am stronger, more comfortable and at home in my aging body, doing things I never thought possible, and I couldn’t be happier with the Solcana community. It’s definitely more than just a gym. Or perhaps what all gyms should aspire to be.

Naomi Osborn: I joined the beginners Empower Class and am so grateful I did! I have never worked out in a gym in my life and really felt that the program and coaches met me where I am. The Empower class has changed the way I see working out and how it fits into my life — I understand now that movement everyday is beneficial to your health and waiting for perfect circumstances is silly. I am continuing my fitness journey and have joined Solcana as a member to attend the BBF classes.

Collin Arnett: Solcana's pretty damn great. I've been going for years now, and their quality programming and coaches keep me going back. What distinguishes them from other "functional fitness" gyms?1. Inclusivity and body/ability positivity - It doesn't matter your shape or ability level. Coaches will find a way for you to start or continue your fitness journey2. Quality programming and coaching - I would routinely injure myself at my old gym. I juries are rare at Solcana because I'm taught how to do things the right way and programmed in a way that I don't hurt my back or strain my shoulder.3. LGBTQ and BIPOC centered - Solcana does their best to be a welcoming community for all and centers people who are typically marginalized. As someone who is privileged enough to benefit from our society, I'm happy to support and join a gym as an ally to all marginalized people.Hannah has built an amazing community, and I love it.

Nathan Hofferber: I can’t say enough how much I love this gym. The classes are amazing, the coaches are incredible, and most importantly the community around the gym is unbeatable. Easily the best gym I’ve been to.

Sarah Ryan: I feel really grateful to have found this space. I’ve been immediately welcomed to the community with warmth and have been encouraged to be my strongest and happiest self. This gym aligns with my values in supporting strength and training without any emphasis on restriction, diet, and weight loss. I’m excited for the growth and gains this space will guide me to!

Maximilian Homstad: Been going to this gym for almost 2 years now, and it is like no other. I love the community I’ve found here, and the strength-based group classes have been gamechanging! I never thought I would like group classes, but the accountability has kept me coming back consistently. The coaches here are knowledgeable, compassionate, and always willing to adapt movements to something that will work for your body. If you are looking for a body-neutral, queer/queer friendly gym, this is the place to go.

ZeSa Fitness: what do users think?

Ashley Gertonson: where I could learn how to do strength training using proper form in a slow and controlled manner.ZeSa is THE place for me. I honestly couldn't be happier. I look forward to coming to class and I've been happily challenging myself and seeing progress. The instability training and balance challenges make the workouts much more mentally engaging than simply following along a routine. Speaking of which - routine isn't quite the word I would use for these classes.... Aside from basic warm up and cool down, we've never done the same workout twice!Power and Strength classes with Cindy are my absolute favorite, but there are also more high intensity classes available for those who prefer that type of workout experience, and some yoga/mindfulness classes as well.Cindy is so warm, welcoming, and encouraging! She also fully participates in every workout, every time, and that is really inspiring! The environment and fitness experience at ZeSa is so unique and in a beautiful environment you simply won't find anywhere else. The first week at ZeSa is free; I came for three days to try to get the best idea of the experience and was completely hooked within ten minutes of my first class. I can't recommend this gym highly enough!

Sophia Moore: Incredible group fitness. Great studio culture and workout! I immediately felt my core gaining strength after having a baby. Definitely worth checking out if you need to strengthen your core because the activators engage your core throughout the whole workout. I also noticed less back pain when picking my kids up after only a couple classes. Give the free week a shot!

Amanda Hoyhtya: I went to ZeSa throughout my full pregnancy and my OB said she was so impressed with my core strength and that it helped me with delivery, recovery, and getting back to my normal weight really quick. I never expected these benefits by going to ZeSa but am so happy I chose this as my workout during pregnancy and swear by it now given my experience.

Hunter Babcock: Amazing Atmosphere, and really cool products. One of the best workouts I have had in years, working my whole body and brain/balance.Staff is very friendly, highly recommend.

Ryan Spence: This is a super challenging workout! Very clean and nice facility and Cindy V is a great coach!

Rebecca Mazza: If you're getting bored with typical workout classes, this is a great place to try! All of the classes will keep your body and mind guessing what's coming next. It is a great core workout. All of the instructors are so welcoming and attentive.

Gregory Bernard, D.C.: Wow! Everyone should be doing this. This is core core core 10x, and they have a stair stepper approach from beginner to master. With almost every injury and every aging adult suffering from core weakness - this system is unique, fun and effective. Thanks Cindy.

Rachel Nygaard: Wonderful workout and very positive instructors!

Katrina DeWit: Checked out the Intro Class this morning! Cindy was a darling instructor, and made me feel comfortable trying out some of the movements, despite my lack of grace and balance. Will definitely be back!

Dale Brose: Visiting for their official kick-off. A unique studio featuring an updated approach to fitness.ZeSa focuses and the connection between strength and balance. Often using familiar yoga poses.ZeSa has been in development for awhile and this studio is the first in the country featuring ZeSa and it's brand of balance+ strength training.

The Power House MN: what do users think?

Karsen Yack: .The classes are small and extremely approachable. The coaches are excellent and will help you modify the workout to meet your abilities. They also offer olympic lifting, yoga, mobility, and personal training. Above all, the community is super kind, welcoming, and inclusive!

Larry Crosby: The coaching is top notch, classes are small, the programming is varied and no matter what the class size, the coaches pay attention to the form and progress of every member. In addition, this is a friendly community that is welcoming.

Janey Farber: Five years ago, I realized I was heading toward “frail old lady” at 54 years old, and decided to try to do something about it. I had never touched a barbell and could not do a push-up or pull-up. I only had a vague idea of what CrossFit was. Almost before I knew it, I was totally hooked! The skilled coaches helped me figure out how to adjust some of the movements so that every workout was a challenge-but totally possible. The community is genuinely supportive to all, no matter where you are in your fitness journey. There is always more to work on, but at the same time, you can be so proud of the progress you’re making. And, it’s never boring!

Rachel Burdette: I have been going to powerhouse for around 6 months and love it. The class sizes are small and the coaches do a great job of helping ensure you have correct form for lifts. I would definitely recommend Powerhouse!

Cristy Brink: I love TPH! I tried out personal training as a birthday indulgence and it quickly became one of the most important things I do. My coach is experienced, knowledgeable, encouraging, and fun, and makes me love being pushed to do more than I thought I could. Group classes are also great, as other reviews have detailed.

Tessa McEllistrem: Such a fun environment with great coaches! Coach Caitlin worked with me after my c-section to help me feel stronger and confident to lift again! I’m so grateful to her and to have found such a great gym! My morning workouts here are easily one of the best parts of my day.

Sarah Kolar: PowerHouse has been a huge part of my health journey for quite a few years now. The expertise and commitment of the coaching staff and the strong positive community really distinguishes it from the other options in town. It is a place to focus on individualized goals over the long term with a customizable level of support. I’m grateful to have found this resource and would recommend PowerHouse to any adult looking to achieve some fitness or health goals.

Jason G: Lifting. Knowledgeable and helpful coaches for all aspects of sporting activity. TPH will make you better!

Ann Gent: I love the feeling of family and the customized approach at Power House. It offers a variety of classes based on your abilities and has a top notch personal training team who works closely with you on achieving specific goals. Special shout out to Caitlin Schad, my personal trainer for the past two years, who has helped me achieve more than I ever thought I could. Love this place!

Bruce Jacobs: I've dropped into a dozen CrossFit gyms around the US, and none comes close to The Power House. The skill of the coaches here, their careful attention to the needs and development every individual, the PT-focused warmup tailored to each workout, the small class sizes, are like no-other box I've seen. In just over two years, they fixed my shoulder and increased my strength and stamina dramatically, all without my feeling sore. The place is amazing.

Paul F: Great place to work out with knowledgeable coaches from a variety of backgrounds. Plenty of class options including in-house yoga taught by excellent instructors that explain the finer details of movement.

Leslie Thompson: and individualized attention you get from the coaches. The small classes and seeing the same faces throughout the week keep me accountable to come to class much more than a big box gym would! The community and relationships really support you in your fitness journey. I was intimidated at first by the word "CrossFit" but CrossFit does not mean you need to look like a body builder to go to the gym! It actually a fancy name for a bunch of fun functional exercises that are different each time. The Power House can "scale" the workouts to your level of fitness, so there's no class that is too hard for anyone to participate. Whether you are 10 years into Crossfit or it is your first time ever starting exercise, each class is individualized to you. No bodies are the same so everyone can adjust the workout to meet their own needs. It is a very body positive environment. This is the longest I've stayed with a fitness routine ever!!

Chrissy Mignogna: The Power House provides great workouts in a welcoming and inclusive environment for all! Each WOD pushes you to challenge yourself under the guidance of professional coaches that keep you safe and help you feel successful no matter your fitness level. I joined Power House about a year ago and am continually impressed by the kindness, professionalism and expertise of the owners and coaches. It is great to be a part of this community!

Jane Schraft: TPH is an amazing gym. The coaching is top notch, classes are small, the programming is varied and no matter what the class size, the coaches pay attention to the form and progress of every member. In addition, this is a friendly community that is welcoming.I’m over 60 years of age and participate in many classes, including the WODs. The atmosphere is encouraging, and I never feel as though I don’t belong there because I’m not as strong or fit as many of the other gym members. I also like the fact that there is a broad range of ages and abilities. It would be hard for me to overstate what a special place this is. If you are looking for a new gym, or a new fitness regimen, put The Powerhouse at the top of you list!

Shauna McDonald: Amazing community with exceptional coaching. Best CrossFit team in town who care about your fitness and YOU. Highly recommend!

Susan G: but not with each other!! We cheer and encourage each other every day. I love going to workout because of group of people I get to be with!

keith wittenberg: Great gym for new and experienced CrossFitters, very welcoming and supportive!

Michael Arquin: Power House is pretty awesome. Came in one day to check it out and 5+ years later I am healthier, stronger and have made some great friends. The coaches are amazing and know how to deal with 50+ year olds who want to get fit! Highly recommend if you are into the gym thing!

Feven Gerezgiher: accommodate both Crossfit types and people just seeking structured exercise, like me. Instructors are mindful of people’s varying levels and offer modifications and helpful tips. They incorporate lifting often. I came in without much experience with weights and have been able to learn along the way. There seem to be many regulars here, a mixed bag of ages. There are events for community building + some chatting in classes. It’s not overbearing if you aren’t trying to chat though.

Element Gym: what do users think?

John Schaefer: Just got a workout in with Element for the first time. Weights, pool, boxing, sauna everything you could want in a gym, so I thought I would come check it out because I heard great things. Michael took me through a boxing lesson, and I couldn’t have signed up quicker. Great gym, great environment, looking forward to spending the summer at Element!

Jeff Chang: Great place to do some work out boxing 🥊many small businesses sports related are in the same building.# No longer there, moved out ......

Kiara Cook: Shane is great! He’s very dedicated and always supportive of his fighters.

Caelin McAfee-McLane: Coach Shane introduced me to boxing after my basketball career ended after an injury. From then he’s worked with me, taught me, and remained patient in the process of me trying to learn to defend myself both in and out of the ring. I hit hard times and fell into a dark place and Coach went above and beyond to listen to me, give me an outlet, and be there for me. Not just as a coach, but somebody that truly cares about me and he’s like that for all his fighters and members. I’m doing much better these days and I can truly say he played a big part in it. He helped save my life and I’m forever grateful for that. He’s the best coach I’ve ever had and the hard work and sacrifices he puts in for his fighters and members is second to none. He’s appreciated and honestly deserves his flowers. Thank you coach for all you do.

Cole Veith: I’ve been an active member at Element for 6 years. It’s been the best gym I’ve ever been to in my life. Even after moving 30+ minutes away I still make the drive because the community is so strong and the trainers are so good. I work primarily with Shane, who is awesome, but every trainer is top tier. Don’t be afraid to check it out even if you’re a beginner. Everyone will welcome you with open arms.

Jake Austin: This is a great gym. Very spacious facility. Coach Shane is the best coach I've had so far!!!. He is the master of striking!! The fight team is very big and there are many weight classes for sparring.

Jessica Nielsen: The entire coaching team is AMAZING at Element Gym. A special shoutout to Coach Polly - she is EXTRA amazing! She is a wonderful coach to all boxers, but we especially appreciate her skills of training adults with Down Syndrome! Element Gym is lucky to have Coach P. and we can't imagine "Down to Box" without her!

Priya: "Five stars all the way! Polly is an incredible boxing coach. Super fun sessions with a delightful person who's incredibly encouraging. Polly's teaching style is engaging, and her skills are top-notch. Highly recommend!"

Sophia Thorne: Amazing gym with a great community!!

Kelley Nelson: for the last year. She is incredibly knowledgeable and strikes the perfect balance of support and challenge as she teaches me the “elements” of boxing. Element Gym attracts people of all ages, races, sizes, genders and fitness levels. I truly feel like I am in community when I work out there. My 16 year old son has built confidence and muscles by lifting with Coach Slink weekly. So grateful to have found this special place in Saint Paul!

Cathy Steinhoff: Polly is a fantastic coach/trainer. She pushes me but respects my medical limitations. I’ve been working with her for 2+ years. I went from having no confidence or form to Polly telling me “You look like you know what you’re doing” on the bags.😊 It’s always fun even on days that I’m struggling. She, just like Element Gym, is very welcoming and safe. I can’t recommend her enough.

Austin Olvera: Since joining Element in October 2023, my experience has been fantastic. As a member of the boxing team, I've enjoyed diverse workouts alongside individuals of all skill levels, guided by Coach Shane. With energy and humor, he makes tough workouts enjoyable while focusing on improvement. The facility offers a spacious and well-equipped environment for training. Since joining, I've noticed significant improvements in my skills.

Bobbi Subiti: Great gym and trainers, Polly is amazing with my teen daughter

AHMADTCW: Love the experience here everything has been the best it could be from teammates the coaches and environment they are a perfect place to start at whatever you are trying to achieve shout out coach Shane good Soul loves his people and has intent for you to get better at whatever you are trying to accomplish! Check him out!!

kevin greenlee: Love Element Boxing! This gym offers so many classes and opportunities to become a better boxer and person. Coach Shane is great, he meets each boxer at their specific level and ability. I started a year ago and I'm 50 years old and it's been a great place to be part of a community and improve my health and skills. Coach Shane also has a great sense of humour that makes getting in fighting shape fun and accessible for anyone who wants to learn and is willing to put in the work. I highly recommend this gym!

Scarlett Johnson: really taught me everything I know about boxing. Shane is tough on his athletes but caring, he pushing us hard because he genuinely wants us to succeed in competition. Coming from a competitive cheerleading background, I expected a different coaching style than I was used to, but I appreciate Shane’s straightforward approach.

asiya mohamed: As someone who has had the privilege of being a part of the competitive team at element gym for several years, I come to training every day not only because of the physical benefits, but also because of the sense of belonging that the coach, Shane, fosters. His coaching style is not only effective but also fun, making every session enjoyable and motivating.

Charlie John: and fellow gym-goers alike contribute to this inclusive vibe, making it a place where everyone feels comfortable and motivated to pursue their fitness goals!

ayan mohamed: Since 2020, I've been attending kickboxing classes at Element gym and have found them extremely enjoyable. Coach Shane’s supportive approach has made reaching our goals feel both achievable and uplifting.

Balance for Life Fitness Center: what do users think?

Jackie Juan: Great gym, thoughtful owner and would highly recommend! I have used a few different personal trainers and have been pleased with them all!

Angela Courtney: I absolutely love the massage services here. Package options are reasonably priced and you can share with your partner in the same household! So great!! The staff are friendly and helpful.

Clare O'Malley: So glad I found this place!Wow. Peggy's massages are amazing and they really notice where I'm carrying my tension from week to week. Julie, the owner, is responsive. Front desk staff is courteous and helpful. I'm so happy to support a local business and not a chain, and to get great services and products.

Colleen Brown: is an extremely talented massage therapist especially if you’ve got tension and knots and prefer a deeper pressure.

jonita bergum: Best massages I have ever had

Catherine Schaefer: challenging and motivating, with personal attention to form. It's a relief to find classes with the music at a low volume so the instructors aren't shouting over it. Personal training with Nikki has been varied and interesting, haven't tried Pilates, but they have a huge array of reformer machines.

Mary Culbertson: A variety of classes - yoga, circuit training, Pilates and more. Balance for Life has excellent instructors and trainers. There's a relaxed atmosphere there.

Janelle Schnadt: there for about three years and couldn’t be happier. Julie, the owner, is very attentive to clients’ needs and accommodations. The facility is extremely well taken care of. The staff are friendly and caring. I work with Kandace, and she is top notch. Each session she tailors the workouts to my needs. In addition she is very caring and fun, too! I highly recommend Balance for Life Fitness. It’s great!

Chris Owen: I have been going to Balance for life for almost 10 years and I love it there. The small group classes are excellent, from pilates or yoga to kettlebell or TRX. I have done private training and Pilates reformer and I always get top notch instruction. If I ever work out at a friend's gym, I'm aware of the lower quality of care. The attention I receive @ BFL always exceeds my expectations.

Carol Mulligan: First, Balance for Life is a well-run, top notch facility. Julie, the owner, is attentive not only to clients' physical training needs and schedules but also provides a clean, bright, welcoming space for workouts. Second, I've been training with Kandace for the last couple years, and she has done so much for increasing my strength and flexibility, both very important as I age. I appreciate how she meets meet me "where my body is at" on the days we train and modifies the session to my particular needs on that day. Third, the front desk staff is excellent--always friendly, welcoming, and helpful--in person or on the phone. Coming to BFL is a bright spot in my week!

Mari Meyer: I've been a client at Balance for Life going on five years, and love this place! The Pilates Reformer classes are fabulous ~ challenging, but also accommodating my health issues. I enjoy the friendly environment and great staff!

Teresa Howard: Balance for Life is my happy place! The staff is great. The classes are so much fun! And the trainers are knowledgeable and supportive. They take the time to make sure you're working your body in a safe and effective manner. The small classes allow you to get to know the other customers. It's like working out with your friends every time! I love this place!

Jean Kiehnbaum: The staff is very helpful an helps you get to your goals. They are very encouraging.

gina odean: My husband and I have a partners private lesson twice a week. Our instructor is skilled at tailoring each day's workout to meet our needs. Use it or lose it, you know! I love this facility. It's pleasant, well-lit, and clean with machines that are in excellent working order. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I would recommend Balance For Life to anyone interested in staying/getting in shape.

Lynn Munson: This place is unique! I have taken Pilates reformer classes and done personal training here for several years. The Pilates instructors are all trained in a precise approach to the exercises, so there is little to no risk of experiencing injury in a class. I have also worked with three different personal trainers, all of whom were very experienced. The trainers are all very adept at adjusting one's training as needed, based on any limitations or injuries. Many people come here for rehabilitation after an injury. Others come to build strength, stamina and balance. This is a place where a person of any age, ability or size can feel comfortable. Because the business is set up for personal training and classes only, there is none of the chaos of a typical fitness gym. It is a warm and friendly place.

Lisa Palkowitsch: Balance For Life Fittness Center places their clients first! Their highly skilled trainers help you to set goals and then achieve them. If you have any special medical concerns they tailor a plan to fit your needs. The massages I’ve had there are the best I’ve ever had. The facility is always clean, the staff friendly and efficient and the personalized attention you receive can’t be topped! Staying strong and healthy helps maintain quality of life and helping you achieve that goal is one of their top concerns for all their clients. I highly recommend BFL as one of the best training facilities in the metro area!

William Odean: I’ve been coming to Balance for Life for Pilates for approximately ten years. I believe it is has contributed more to my continuing good health than anything else I’ve done. Additionally, I am certain that it helped me recover fully and quickly from ACL surgery I had a few years ago and neck surgery I had recently as a result of lymphoma. I have recommended Balance for Life to friends and family and endorse it without hesitation for anyone interested in maintaining fitness and health.

Julie Theobald: Balance for Life has great teachers and trainers that truly enhance my experience of improving my fitness. The group classes are small so there is good individual support and modifications made for different body types. I strongly encourage you to use this fitness center for maintaining and building your health and wellness.

Hell Bent Fitness: what do users think?

Kari Johnson: I basically stopped working out during the pandemic, which resulted in me gaining weight and experiencing some additional health concerns from being inactive for so long. I joined HB Fitness in April and I love it! I've lost weight and I feel so much stronger and healthier. The owner, Jason, is great, I love the variety of workouts offered, I can get modifications to adapt to my needs and it's a local small business so it's super convenient! Definitely recommend checking them out!

Kristin Trudeau: I first became a client almost 5 years ago.  I was really only running for exercise and had begun to see my metabolism slow with middle age and my body rebel against the pounding repetition.  Hell Bent is in our neighborhood, so thought I'd give it a try.  The first time I worked out there, it was like coming home.  I was a bit apprehensive as I'd never belonged to a gym before, but Jason made me feel instantly comfortable, as did the members.   It's "come-as-you-are" - no one was out to impress.  It was just a bunch of community members who were in the same boat as me - looking for a fun way to get a variety of exercise, to get stronger - physically, psychologically, mentally, and benefit from the knowledge and expertise of certified trainers.  My body has transformed and I feel SO much stronger and have more endurance and energy.  The experience and confidence I gained set me on a path to get my 200-hr yoga teacher certification and now I teach restorative yoga at Hell Bent once a week!

Catherine Berigan: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityLocally owned amazing gym. Jason is the best trainer I have ever had. Personalized, motivating and life changing.

Joseph Harrington: strength, density and metabolic condition classes and have really benefited from both the workouts and Jason's expertise. In 2020 my wife, Diane, and I started individualized strength training with Jason and we can see and feel the difference in our bodies. In April, 2021 we signed up for "Your Best Month Ever", a personalized health, fitness and nutrition program with both Jill and Jason. The results have exceeded our expectations. We eat better, sleep better and get more out of each of our workouts. Our attitudes towards our bodies and our outlook on our health have never been better.

Amy Asbury: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityLife is better when I am in the HB Zone; meeting twice a week with Jason & my weight lifting gal pals and regularly taking HIIT or MetCon classes. I feel better. I work better. It makes a huge difference.

Sue Redepenning: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityGreat and experienced coaches. Awesome exercises that change monthly. Great team approach and awesome workout community.

Callie Myers: Hell Bent offers amazing workouts with positive, knowledgeable trainers AND a great sense of community. The classes are designed by the owner - 45min of various moves set to good music. There’s never a dull moment in class, which helps the time fly by in the best kind of way. Owners also plan several extra programs and community challenges to keep things interesting throughout the year. When the pandemic hit, they quickly transitioned the classes to Zoom workouts without missing a beat. The daily class options helped me keep my sanity and fitness through this tough year.I love the HB community and recommend it to anyone who wants to get active.

Desiree K: I found Hellbent Fitness after my local Box in Wisconsin closed. At first, I tried recorded classes but found that without engagement I wasn’t consistent or motivated in my workouts. From that, my requirements were an instructor who didn’t just broadcast a live class but had mastered technology to provide the next best thing to being live in-person. I didn’t just want to watch people work out, I wanted to be involved with feedback from the instructor. I had found three possible gyms for what I was looking for. Hellbent blew everyone else out of the water, they have spent a lot of time, money and energy to provide the best online live class experience I’ve found. The instructors are all top notch and care, they are engaged and use the technology to provide feedback just as you’d get in-person. No matter where in the world you find yourself, Hellbent Fitness is an option you need to try.

Bret Hueper: I started working out with Hellbent Fitness virtually post-COVID and have found the staff and membership to be outstanding. While I haven’t been able to join in-person classes, they make the virtual workouts challenging and fun. In addition to the workouts themselves the staff engages the members positively with community-based events and challenges.

Pam W: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI’ve been a member of Hell Bent for over five years. The classes are challenging and the instructors keep me motivated. I highly recommended HB!

teresa thein: Positive:ProfessionalismAmazing sense of community. If you’re looking for a sense of accountability and new friends as well as a great workout you’ve found your place. See you at HB!

D'Ann Urbaniak Lesch: I started at HB in Nov 2019 and quickly realized it was just what I needed to keep me motivated and get me strong/fit. I came to love the hard workouts and having the awesome instructors encourage and push me. When the pandemic changed everything I was worried I would not be able to keep up my workout routine but because HB quickly pivoted to online, the classes kept me in shape AND sane! I truly look forward to working out and am so thankful to HB!

Ann Severson: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality

Rebecca Kane: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityHellBent has changed my life. I'm healthier, happier and love the community. I wholeheartedly recommend HellBent to anyone looking for a better quality of life.

Senait Judge-Yoakam: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,QualityI love working out here! Our family group training was always a blast pre-2020. Now, we work out via zoom where we get to try new kinds of classes. It’s been such a vital part of our well being this year. Love this community!

Cathy McGinty: Great community, awesome instructors and class variety make Hell Bent the best way to start my day! After 7 years and hundreds of classes I still look forward to each class, feel challenged and always work up a great sweat. Thanks, HB!

J R: The Hell Bent team and community surrounding this gym is amazing! I've been coming here for years and it was never something I had intended. I always used the outdoors as my gym but Hell Bent changed me completely. A family owned business that gives back and supports the local community as well as it's own is more than I ever expected out a place to work out. If you are not here you are missing out! Whether it be streaming live online or in person this is the place to be.

Functional Patterns Minnesota: what do users think?

Anthony Ulrich: Update: Did you know there is an FP North Suburbs location? Pro tip, checkout their new location north of the cities at Prodigy MMA. They are renting space out of this gym and has been my new favorite combination of training!Functional Patterns changed my life. The training system is the best out there. The community here is full of wonderful humans wanting to better themselves and those around them. The gym is epic and gets open air in the Summer and Red lights at night.Best of all, the trainers are life changing. The attention and transformative potential they can have for people is unreal. I've thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend training with Austin, Frida, or Lukas!

Kerry Gardner: This place changed my life. Its unlike any program youve done.No nonsense...its a DIY program with lots of support..

Justin Kahmann: I have been coming to FP 2 times a week for personal training, for almost 2 years now, and nothing has helped my back pain, as much as FP. After a debilitating diving accident when I was 12 years old left me in chronic back pain, I tried physical therapy, chiropractor, personal trainers, massage, considered PRP injections, stem cells, etc... Faced with only surgery left, I sought any last alternatives, and stumbled across Functional Patters of Minnesota. If you have a sports injury, or back pain, or just want to feel younger, I strongly encourage you to invest in yourself, and your health, and give Functional Patterns a try. You will not regret it 🙂

Lecia B: give this place a try. It has helped me immensely, and it is both challenging and enjoyable. Great knowledge practitioners and community.

Hunter Schwietz (Form First): Frida, Michelle and Austin are all phenomenal trainers. I have worked one on one with all of them among their group classes. They know what they’re doing and are very knowledgeable.

Cortney Johnson: , 30+ years of poor posture habits, and lack of body confidence brought me here. After completing the 10-week course online and working weekly with Michelle, I cannot stress the importance of this in my life and future body function — especially post-partum and in my mid-thirties. I now feel safer doing movements involving my core and have learned how the body and its movements are interconnected. Michelle is extremely patient and always finds ways to break the motions down for me. I am very impressed with this program and recommend it to anyone looking for real results that will last beyond a gym membership.

Sudip Kundu: I came to FP due to back pain and have been pain free since I started, my core has never felt stronger and overall my body and mind feels a lot better. I have been so impressed that I even enrolled by dad.Functional Patterns is a unique and innovative approach to fitness that emphasizes functional movement and the importance of proper biomechanics in exercise. One of the standout features of Functional Patterns is its emphasis on whole body movement and integration. Rather than isolating specific muscle groups, Functional Patterns focuses on training the body as a cohesive unit and teaching proper movement patterns. This approach not only helps to build functional strength and improve overall physical performance, but it can also help to prevent injury and improve posture. The workouts themselves are challenging and diverse, incorporating a variety of equipment and techniques. The instructors are knowledgeable and supportive, and the atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive.I highly recommend Functional Patterns MN for anyone looking to improve their functional movement, strength, and overall physical performance. It's a unique and effective approach to fitness that is well worth checking out.

Nicholas Gaasvig: I would highly recommend working with any of the practitioners at Functional Patterns Minnesota. Regardless of whether you are athletic or not, the practitioners will meet you where you’re at but also challenge your personal goals after continued training.I have been training with Frida consistently for about 5 years and Austin for about 4 years in 1-on-1 sessions to improve my biomechanics. By working on my biomechanics, I have significantly decreased my anxiety. This has increased my stress tolerance allowing me to perform better professionally as an engineer and practitioner. I am now able to handle overtime and work long shifts on a weekly basis without burning out compared to when I was in my late teenager years.I am now 26 years old with years of sobriety under my belt and continue to feel better as I prioritize my biomechanics, sleep, and diet in that order of importance. Under rare circumstances that I’m under unmanageable stress, I can functionally cope or have the body awareness to take time to relax without resorting to drug use or addiction.Whenever I work with a practitioner at FP Minnesota, the advice given is directly referenced to the greatest athletes in the world to mimic their mechanics. This requires adaptive problem solving and being able to change quickly, which has enhanced my critical thinking skills as an engineer.Functional Patterns has given me a level of confidence in my training to prevent injuries that far exceeds what I’ve ever had in my history of traditional training methods. By exclusively training Functional Patterns, I have quantifiably improved my max sprinting mechanics, transferring over to an increased max speed.

Henry Arneson: Functional Patterns is a potent, but bitter medicine that can connect you with the infinite potential of your body. Part of the experience is unlearning the patterns and behaviors that have contributed to pain or other physical limitations. However, learning to move in a way that promotes physical awareness and healing in your body will reap huge dividends. In Functional Patterns, they will always put your longevity and health first. Most importantly, it's fun and never repetitive, as the practitioners put a great deal of effort into making the sessions engaging, informative and interesting.I have seen impressive gains in my performance and structure as a competitive handball player and learning from Functional Patterns Minnesota has been both humbling and illuminating. I now move and perform better than before, but with significantly less stress and pain and effort. To those that don't believe in the results of Functional Patterns, the proof, for me, is self evident. Nothing I ever did before ever made my body feel this good and strong. I know that Functional Patterns has given me the tools to not only move and perform better, but also to keep me performing well into old age. And that should be everyone's goal!

Grace Holthaus: The team at FP MN are phenomenal! As they help me work through my dysfunctions, I feel very supported. The team meets me where I’m at on my way towards body integrity. Thanks, FP MN!

Abbie D.: FP Minnesota and the team that is built there has provided me a level of foundation I have never found before. I have been able to better address my concerns stemming from my back and hip pain than from anything I have tried in the past. I now have the tools to correctly help alleviate pain and symptoms when they arise. In the last seven months of doing this, the pain is becoming less and less and I no longer have extended periods of debilitating pain — which is very crucial for my profession of being a nurse and being on my feet for 12-16 hours at a time. Everyone there is truly rooting for you and you feel empowered every time you step foot inside. I have to provide a special shout out to my practitioner Michelle — Michelle has been instrumental in helping me make changes. She has this amazing ability to provide a level of compassion to what I have gone through, mixed with the perfect amount of pushing me to be the best I can be. I have never seen myself be as toned as I am now with this newfound level of confidence and I’ve only just begun 💪🏼

Ryan Keys: Before I started working with Michelle at Functional Patterns Minnesota, I thought that having joint pain and groaning to sit and stand was just a normal part of turning 30 and being in the construction field. After these last 3 months, not only do I feel and move better than I have in the last 10 years, but I am no longer concerned with the longevity in my career of choice. Michelle is an extremely patient coach and provides a great example of understanding Functional Patterns principles and the lifestyle that comes with it.

Diego Juarez: , but also in my mind and mood. It has made me feel more confident. I have much better physical awareness and can track and control my breathing, posture, and body language more now. I now notice that I feel anxious not because of overwhelming thoughts, but because of a change in my breathing and heart rhythm. FP has empowered me because by changing my body I can monitor and manage my anxiety in a way that actually works. Thanks Michelle!

Luis Miguel Ocampo: Great place to workout and learn body mechanics!

Lions Gym & Wellness Center: what do users think?

Judaisha Jackson: From the time I walked in, the co-owners completely treated me with respect. They were so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. Everytime I walked past anyone in this gym they smiled. After researching more about the mission of the gym, and the owners ambitions, I am a proud supporter of Lions Gym. It felt so good to be apart of something with a purpose. I will definitely be back.- Judy

Amir Boloor: Best gym in the country! This gym has great equipment, friendly people, and an amazing staff! I had a bad car accident a few months ago and Dr. Menya has helped me come so far I could not be more grateful. I’ve been to many gyms over the years, none compare to Lions.

David Bartels: Big fan of this gym. I’ve been a member for over 2 years now. They have all the essential equipment, everything is well kept, it’s never too crowded, & staff are super friendly. As I’ve gotten more consistent this has become my new “happy place”.

Deb Anderson: Fabulous place to work out! Friendly staff and members!

Gina Kiser: LIONS GYM is a very welcoming environment everytime you step in the door!! Dr. Stephen Menya & Leah Menya are very knowledgeable & caring!!! They listen very closely to you as you explain your situation & concerns! One of my concerns was that I have osteoporosis & all that I knew was that chiropractic care involved firm manipulation of your bones. Dr. Stephen Menya was very understanding of my concerns & fully explained how his treatment would help strengthen my bones by strengthening & working with my muscles!! I have seen him for a number of sessions & I am seeing great results! My stiffness in my neck is improving which results in less dizziness. I am feeling greater strength in my muscles around my replaced knee thanks to his care!! I highly recommend this place to all!!!

Madalynn Walter: Every worker/coach is personable and always is focused on your best interests and goals. They make you feel comfortable with vulnerable aspects of your workout journey and are always there to support you.

Spencer Specht: This gym is the best! Great equipment and atmosphere. Stephen, Leah and Kirk are so welcoming and always great you with a friendly hello. Pete and Ben from Revival Physical Therapy are also amazing. Truly a one stop wellness center.

Bengt Fredrickson: Besides the owners, everyone who works out here is incredibly nice and friendly. It is difficult to get in and out without chatting with someone and having a good laugh. Some gyms say they are a judgement free zone, but the people at Lion's act and treat you without judgment. Actions speak louder than words. People are helpful and dedicated to bettering their health.Besides the people here, the equipment is amazing. It is all well loved and cared for. People actually wipe down the equipment when they are done with it. The staff makes sure everything is in working order and do very frequent deep cleans of the space. They have everything you could need here. Cardio machines, free weights, machines, dynamic movement equipment, ropes, tires, sledgehammers, and crossfit racks. Everything you could need to get and stay fit is located inside the doors of Lions. This place feels like home. People care for you and want to see you succeed. Here you are not just another monthly payment, you will be valued and cared for like the closest of friends. Do yourself a favor and get to Lions as soon as you can.
