Bill started out competing and training in Eventing and Dressage under Max von Bluecher (owner of Fortuna Farm). In 1971, Bill went on to start his own farm, Lothlorien, in Maple Lake. It was at Lothlorian that Bill apprenticed under Mykola Pawlenko and Marianne Ludwig. The Olympic selection committee chose Bill to train with the U.S. Olympic team under Bertalan de Nemethy. Bill has also had the opportunity to ride and train in Europe. Bill has a keen eye for selecting young horses. Over the years, he has bred and raised many successful top level horses and riders. Bill has developed a system for training that is unparalleled. Many of his students have gone on to become top level riders. If you are serious about your training, Bill's program can take you where you want to go.
Stacy was introduced to horses by her Aunt Randy when she was 3 years old and has been passionately hooked ever since!
Stacy started Burns Lake Stables where she taught lessons, trained and rehabilitated horses and competed in Eventing (dressage, cross country and show jumping). During that time Stacy trained with several top level riders including Olympic rider Becky Holder-Douglas. Stacy and Bill joined forces and have been working side by side ever since. Stacy shows both hunters and Jumpers at all the major shows. Stacy's passion is starting young horses and teaching horsemanship to riders of all levels. Stacy believes that consistency and relaxation are paramount to the learning and training process.

Amir Mir Abdolazimi: A must visit place. Spectacular collection of thousands of small and large pieces of antiques gathered from around the globe is in its Carrousel building. The quite functioning old pipe organs fed with punch cards to play desirable musics are fantstic. The antique-decorated ballroom is a good place to hold small gatherings and birthday parties. It would be a unique experience for both the children and their parents! The fascility has a stable and the indoor and outdoor horse riding arenas and the trainig courses are available to both children and adults.
Sheila Smith: This is a farm with great history! I remember when George Piper & his wife Christine owned it before Bill. It was called PipeDowns.Bill has taken this place to the next level and is such a great guy! RIP George! You were one of my beloved friends! You’d be happy to see what Bill has done with it!

J Eisenmann: We train with an independent trainer who has clients that board their horses at Alpine Farms. We moved our horse to Alpine Farms in July of 2023. We have been very happy at Alpine. The facility offers a nice outdoor and a large indoor heated arena. They have a spacious indoor viewing area for parents/caregivers to watch lessons. The property is clean and well maintained. We like that the owners and staff live on site. The owners and the staff are a pleasure to work with. Quality horse care. Our horse has never looked better.

Great trainers and a very supportive atmosphere.This is definitely a professional barn - not a place for kids that just want to plod around on a pony. If you are serious about training, or your child wants to be a professional equestrian, this is the place.Recently purchased a hunter/jumper gelding and I can't say enough good things about the barn team and how well cared for the horses are.

Bob Rezner: Alpine Farms is a classic Horse Facility. Built by Lyman Wakefield it has stood the test of time. They have an excellent indoor arena, stall space on both sides. Wide isles. Wash stalls, tack rooms, dressing rooms and a lounge. The indoor facility is heated. They have an Outdoor arena. Combine these facilities with the experience and passion of the Underhills and Alpine Farms is the center of dressage and jumping. And they offer lessons and horse boarding.
Anne Marie Kniser: My daughter begged me for two years from the age of 5 for riding lessons. When she was 7 I finally said yes. After some googling and some recommendations, I scheduled a lesson at Alpine farm with Christopher Underhill. She was hooked the first lesson and we couldn't have gotten a better trainer. She is now 16 and going on 10 years with Christopher Underhill and Alpine Farms!
Dave Cecchi: Riding / jumping lessons for kids: we have tried lessons for our kids at several places in town and Alpine has been head and shoulders above the rest. No contest. So happy to have found it. Chris has so much passion for the sport and for teaching and helping riders progress and get better. They are organized and easy to work with. The facility is gorgeous, waiting / viewing area is dumbfoundingly great, and the horses are wonderful. Should be first in your list of places to try.

Barb Eytinge: I have been riding it idylwood for a number of years and I find Jamie an excellent instructor and a very kind person. I've seen complaints about her not taking care of the horses and yet she does a lovely job. If there were problems why didn't those people who complained call The Humane Society. Surely if things were so bad there would have been some action taken

You will learn all this and much more in a very safe environment. Special care is taken during lessons making sure you have a safe enjoyable ride.My granddaughter started riding at Idylwood at 5. She is now 8 and it's amazing how skilled she is riding and jumping fences. I have also taken lessons and highly recommend Idylwood for beginners and experts.

She has been doing group lessons for years. Her trainer and lesson helpers are always friendly and have given her confidence. I have known the family well and been involved in all aspects of the farm.The chore crew takes immaculate care of the horses.There’s three outdoor arenas and two indoor arena.As well as a mile long track and a cross country course with banks, ditches, and water features.We are open to boarders of all disciplines and horses of all ages, breed, and needs.The hay is homegrown and beautiful. Often complimented on and has been purchased by several higher names in the horse industry.There’s a fantastic lesson program with a herd of wonderful lesson horses.I have traveled around to hundreds of barns in the country and have seen very few I’d rather be at.I’ve purchased two home bred horses and they have been the most well mannered and easiest horses.I cannot recommend Woodloch Stable enough.
Sithly: . I've been there about a year and a half with my new horse. They've made a ton of improvements to the facilities, everything from adding covered hay storage areas, improving the paddocks, adding geotextile in the pastures to control mud, and improving fences, adding new arenas and improving footing in the existing arenas, and expanding their beautiful cross country course. It's very clear to me that they care about their facilities and their horses. They are always reinvesting in making the place better, and they have a refreshingly down-to-earth approach to horse care.I am happy with the care my horse has gotten at Woodloch. Hay and grain are excellent quality, the barn is clean, and the staff is diligent about doing blanket changes and supplements. They also notice and communicate when anything is amiss. The other day, I put the wrong weight blanket on my horse's stall, and they texted me to double check, which saved my horse an uncomfortable night.Their lesson program is a great foundation for beginners, and they also have instructors who work with higher level riders, depending on discipline

James Stelter: Northbrook is a wonderful facility for both horses and their owners. There are a variety of lessons and trainers available as well as many clinics throughout the year. Our horse has thrived in the environment — top notch grain and hay, excellent pasture, limited numbers of horses in paddock, exceptional stall condition and paddock. The arena is temp controlled with great footing and amazing viewing area. The entire facility is clean and well maintained with coordinated access to farrier, horse blanket cleaning and vet visits. One of the best thing about Northbrook is the caring community of people you get to be a part of. We LOVE Northbrook and appreciate Jan and the team she has put together to care for our horse, and us!
Jennifer Landers: North Brook Farm is a true gem of a facility! Jan assures that the horses are so well cared for and her years of experience and expertise are invaluable. Jumping lessons for all levels, dressage, clinics, trail riding, and more are the reasons I’d never consider moving my horse.
aimee merino: I have lessoned here for over 5 years and boarded for four years. I now lease a horse here. Northbrook is the farm I dreamed about as a little girl. The grounds are lovely and include well-managed pastures, a very large indoor ring with jump and barrels, a grass arena, a large cross-country course with open areas for schooling, and a connection to the Gateway trail system. The other boarders are great and the employees are caring and competent horse people. There are jumping, cross country, and dressage lessons. I have learned so much here and it has been the site of some of my happiest memories.

The barn community is friendly and supportive. It is primarily an Eventing center with a lot of opportunities to further your riding/training knowledge. There is a huge indoor with excellent footing, a large cross country course, and access to the Gateway trail system. The farm is well taken care of. My horses have never been happier.

Jan Fisk is professional, caring, fair, and one of the best I have ever worked for. She is an excellent trainer, and has built my confidence and my riding skills, and has helped me improve more than I ever thought I could. The staff are warm, helpful, and care about the work that they do. My high maintenance horse is the happiest he has ever been. I would highly recommend working and or boarding here.

Jamie Mauer: This is the best facility in MN. you will find nothing better, Liz is amazing as well as the other trainers there ! Quality quality quality ! I can not express enough how absolutely wonderful this place is. Barn staff are wonderful and do so much ! The community here is also amazing. Everyone is supportive and helpful whether you’re starting as a beginner or a well experienced rider. Copeland is the place to be !

Peggy Peterson: We called Liz Lund, the New owner of Copeland Farm's for horse manure for our garden. We had gotten it previously from the previous owners. She gratuitously gave us permission to come and get as much as we needed. Copeland Farm's were gorgeous as it was previously! So we'll kept and beautiful horses and English Riders in the Corral's doing their exercises with happy smiles and parents watching from the sidelines. My husband and I were so impressed!! We were both so thankful to Liz Lund and Copeland Farm's for giving us horse manure for our vegetable garden this year!

As being a women of color I faced a lot of barbs that turned me away or made me feel unwelcome. I stumbled across windfall on my way back from work. Lucky enough it’s only a few minutes away from my house. I called and made my first appointment with Jennifer. It was amazing I learned so many things during my first lesson. I then began to take lessons from Emma for a few months. And now I’m taking lessons from Kellie. Also just started to lease a horse from Kellie too!! Now I get to ride more. Windfall is a place that anyone can be comfortable riding at. Love seeing new clients arrive at the barn. Usually my family know where I be at work or the barn 😂. Can’t wait to continue riding here

Jennifer Coleman and her trainers are knowledgeable, encouraging and kind. They teach strong fundamentals, good horsemanship, and proper technique. Lessons are fun, with constructive feedback and progressive skill building. I absolutely have transformed as a rider because of Jennifer Coleman and feel so lucky to take lessons here!Outside of lessons - the barn culture is supportive and there is a true community at the barn. The facilities are fantastic. The horses are happy. It’s clear that the physical, mental, and emotional well being of the horse are prioritized. It’s a quick drive from the cities, even during rush hour. There are tons of events and opportunities to show.If you’re looking for lessons or boarding, I absolutely recommend Jennifer Coleman and Windfall!!
