The Book House in Dinkytown: what do users think?

Harry Weisenborn: amazing selection, very reasonably prices

Tovin Sannes-Venhuizen (Tovin): Greatly enjoyed my visit to this bookstore, the staff was wonderfully helpful in helping me attempt to find a few specific books and the books were reasonably priced. I was especially happy with the large Natural History and Ecology section.I was amused by the sorting of the books meant for readers with perhaps questionable tastes, where the four sections were sorted into “Smut / Filth / Sleaze / Erotica”One common theme i’ve noticed in many small bookstores is the prevalence of communist literature, while I do not necessarily disagree with it, it’s an interesting trend between stores. Would’ve enjoyed talking to the staff about their opinions but ran out of time, perhaps on my next visit.Free books on cart in street, enjoyed browsing them as well.

Halley Boesen: 🍉❤ Amazing bookstore with so much queer and political history. Chill atmosphere, friendly staff, and fair prices! They also have graphic novels, comics, local zines, and a free zine library right when you walk in!

Em Christie: The Book House in Dinkytown is like a TARDIS - it’s bigger on the inside! What looked like a small shop revealed a maze of stacked shelves, all clearly labeled and organized, so finding what I was looking for was easy peasy. The staff were helpful and friendly. And IT SMELLS FANTASTIC in there. That book smell - gets ya every time!

Jim Miller: Today was my very first visit. I should have been there long time ago. I was impressed by the selection and quality of chess books. More importantly, I was impressed by the kindess and helpfulness of the bookseller. He was very polite even before opening the store! I felt like I was visiting family: very welcome. I loved the cozy atmosphere of the store. Put another way, if I could give The Book House five HUNDRED stars, it would make my grade more accurate. Thank you.

David Behsman: This is a fantastic book store! I was pleasantly surprised at the great selection. The prices are very fair as well.

April Gentling: Been here a couple of times. Such a cute lil place. Love going in and looking around. It feels like a maze!! Super fun and the people there are very helpful.

Lilly: Absolutely love this little bookstore. They have a unique selection that caters to nearly anybody and at such good prices. Store owners are kind. I could sit in this place all day, everyday.

Emily Feicht: We love the sheer number of non fiction books and foreign language works! Classics and newer works are widely available. Lots of hard covers, even before discussing the rare books. There's a rewards program and periodic sales by genre. It's well traveled with lots of stock turnover.

Erika J. Worley: Walls of books!!!!!!

jon hinton: Wonderful little book store.

Camille McCallum: The Book House in Dinkytown is an absolute treasure trove for book enthusiasts! This vintage bookstore is a hidden gem in Minneapolis, boasting an impressive collection that includes rare first editions, signed copies, and collector's editions. The variety across genres is extensive, ensuring there's something for every literary taste. The charm of discovering hidden literary gems adds an exciting element to the browsing experience. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness enhance the overall atmosphere, making each visit a delightful journey through literary history. If you're a book lover seeking unique finds, The Book House in Dinkytown is a must-visit destination, earning it a well-deserved five stars!

Patrick Merz: Great bookstore. Nice little record section, too.

Brett Roberts: This was a great find in the Twin Cities for used books. They have a wide selection of topics and friendly staff.

Dave Campbell: Great independently owned bookstore with a wide variety. Staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming.

Birchbark Books & Native Arts: what do users think?

Emilia: This bookstore is really beautiful and has a great selection of both native and non-native authors. There are also an assortment of handmade gifts that are clearly made with care. When I was there today one of the employees helped me find some horror books. They had lots of good suggestions and were friendly and genuine.

Lee Witte: Fun and friendly neighborhood book store.

Deborah Weddle: Great local bookstore focusing on Indigenous authors and books. Staff was exceptional in helping our YA readers finding books of interest!

Brooke K. Carlson: Haven't been in ages. Wish I lived closer. Need to make a point to visit again sooner.

Aimee Roberson: One of my favorite bookstores!

Kyle Herberg: Fun store with a great selection of books and other gifts.

Jade: I bought a book online and it came a week earlier than they estimated! Support native-owned businesses!!!

Linda Wabanimkee: My second visit to this amazing bookstore. I came away with four books, three were Native American authors and a card, postcard, a couple of bookmarks. I also order online. Stopped in here while we visited Minneapolis.

Kara Kelso, Commercial Real Estate Consultant: . This shop has an amazing selection of Indigenous books — it was so hard to choose what to get! Oh, and the confessional from The Sentence is in the shop which is great. I am really looking forward to coming back to this shop.

Gerald Friest: My wife and I have bought several books from Birchbark Books over the last couple of years. We also received a wonderful recommendation from a staff person about a series of youth books that our granddaughter has reread several times. The staff are always friendly.

Thomas Robertson: Nice store

The Loft Literary Center: what do users think?

Andrea Johnson: The Loft is an incredible place that encourages creativity, storytelling, and community.

Joaquin Cruz: I been to this place before, it's nice, it has a library and a coffee shop!

valerie jeffreys: I went there to Vote in the Nov 2 2021 election for Mayor and many others, along with 3 questions. It was in and out

David E. Engen: Brilliant classes with equally brilliant and creative classes. I’ve gone from thinking about a book idea to actually creating it thanks to the common sense and creative approach that exists here. I’m more than a little enthusiastic about the mission of The Loft.

Aleisha Theisen: I recently took my first Loft class, and it was a fantastic experience. Kate St. Vincent Vogl taught the course, which was on keys to driving narrative. She provided thought-provoking examples and guidance on ways to approach narrative, and she led interesting discussions on the craft. I received valuable feedback on my work from Kate and my fellow classmates. I'm planning to take more classes at the Loft in the future.

Linda Hart: I enjoy listening to your young aspiring authors and poets.

Noor A.: The events they host are excellent, and they really add something great to the community by giving platforms and voices to those who are not given them often. I’ve been to the loft several times over the past few years and have never been disappointed in anything they have to offer, from the events to the food/coffee to even just the space they occupy. A great place overall.

Maya B: A community staple! They offer classes, events, food & drink, room rentals, book clubs, and so much more.

Dianne Wagner: Appreciate the comraderie with fellow attendants at The Loft. Wonderful literary class for sixteen-year-old granddaughter. The coffee shop has superb food and coffees too.

Araceli Esparza: It's still a place for all writers, much love for being a place for the creatives!

Next Chapter Booksellers: what do users think?

Laura N: Next Chapter Booksellers is the main place where I buy books. They have a great set of tables right inside the door that typically carry what I want to read. The staff are chill and friendly and they write good recommendations. While the book clubs organized at Next Chapter aren't my particular taste, I like that they exist.I take one star off because the hours are a little tough for someone who works full time. 10-5 on weekdays means I can only stop in to pick up on weekends. Certainly not the end of the world, but I'd love to be able to browse quietly at the end of a workday.

Kate Ballard: I love this bookstore! The selection is fantastic and the staff have wonderful recommendations!

Shreedhar Pandey: Excellent bookstore. Very helpful staff.

Halley Boesen: Incredible bookstore that's LGBTQIA+ friendly. They have a great comics and graphic novel section too!

Dezaray: My favorite St Paul bookseller. Large variety of books and welcoming atmosphere.

Erika J. Worley: Dictionary definition of a bookstore!

j hetrick: Went to see Patty Wetterling and Joy Baker speak and get my book signed. Really nice place with a wide variety of books.

Robert Ludes: Perfect sized Indy bookstore with a wonderful selection and friendly service.

Rowan Forrester: Really cool book shop with fantastic folx working there and very keen to help. I felt welcomed and valued, but also cool to hang out and read in their lounge area. Bought a book recommended by a fellow tutor employee, and loved the tin ceiling atmosphere. Highly recommend.

Hailey McCain: This place was sooooo cute!!!! I didnt get any books at the time but I did get one of their little poems with candy from the gumball machine and that was so cute!

Luisa Oropeza: Independent bookstore with wide selection of different topics in books.

Minnesota Center For Book Arts: what do users think?

Deborah C: Truthfully, I visited because I heard about the gift shop from social media and was blown away. The shop features a ton of local artists, and artists from marginalized communities. They have a huge selection of zines, prints, and greeting cards. I ended up getting four greeting cards and two stickers, but I would've absolutely gone home with more if my bank account allowed for it.

Osman Bayram: Great peoples 👍

Greta Casey: Great makerspace for book artists, library, gathering place for writers, and a nice little gift shop. Added bonus: Milkweed Press!

Jens Holmboe: This place is the best. I have been there twice with my classes and, as a teacher, the experience for the kids is superb.

Chelsey S: Wonderful workshops available from passionate artist professionals. Once you have some experience with the techniques and equipment you can sign up for open ‘lab’ or commit to renting studio time.I attended Marbling 1 workshop with Michelle Blodgett and found it well taught..and the form very addicting!

Seesaw Ching: Love it

Max Schaffer: This place is totally incredible, got an amazing print here I’ve cherished for years and there’s awesome resources for learning all sorts of amazing art styles!

Justin Lee Miller: The best cafe in the neighborhood. Gift shop is nice. Ironically, they don't carry stationary. I guess no one writes letters but me.

Angela Zhang: The set up is very creative and very very nice. The shop is full of trinkets for bookworms and artists. The little zine exhibit there during my visit was great.

rod mason: Printing, typesetting, other book arts

Marti Simmons: Lots of artists and book binders at work. Great store if you love paper and paper arts!

Red Balloon Bookshop: what do users think?

Laurel Hall: So cute, really friendly staff, and excellent selection of books for all ages.

Dan Vogel: I'm a new grandfather this store is so helpful

Peighton Carter: It is a beautiful bookstore. They used the space they have to provide a wide selection for children and teens.

Aaron N: Nice little bookstore filled lots of books and knick knacks. The store seems to be geared more for the younger reader.

Dale Raasch: Love this shop. Great for a special stop with kids or grandkids. Great selection of kids' books and unique kid gifts. Friendly and informative staff. Very clean and laid out nicely.

Composey Music: The best bookshop for kids and adults! The librarians really care about the books they bring to their readers. They will help search out a long-lost story and are passionate about great suggestions. Consider getting gifts and good reads from this fabulous place!

AlphaGraphics: what do users think?

Katherine Jaeger: Thank you for a great experience again! Alina was great to work with.

Hannah Girmai: Steve and Alina are awesome! Appreciate their responsiveness and friendly customer service. Give them a raise!

Vicki Bacal: I received top notch service on my project from Jeff at Alpha Graphics. The best quality, price & delivery! Many thanks! 😊 Vicki Bacal

Anna Slayton: AlphaGraphics always delivers exactly what I expect while being very accomodating when it comes to tight deadlines. I've never received an order and been disappointed by the quality, this has given my team peace of mind when we're working against a deadline and don't have the luxury of reprinting. I can't say the same thing about other printing services I've tried lately - each time I find a deal and try a different print shop or service, we receive a product that doesn't meet our expectations and end up sending our job to AlphaGraphics for last minute printing anyway.

Katie Herman: I needed a banner for a newly opening apartment complex. I called around to get some bids from a few places and alphagraphics had the best prices and by far the fastest turnaround time. Alina was very responsive and pleasant to work with. Even after deciding against using their installment services and electing to do it on my own, they still gave me pointers on how to do the install after I had already paid for and left with my product. I highly recommended this company!

Nyabang Diang: Loved my person that helped me.

Jessica Klimisch: My rep is great and everyone is always very helpful when I pick up projects.

Johnny Berman: You're great! Alpha has always been helpful, pleasant, has delivered products and services at a reasonable price. Full recommendation.

Torsten Byrnes: Christina was super easy to work with and was able to help me with some rush flyers I needed. I've worked with many AlphaGraphics locations and this one was absolutely top-notch!

Eric: Been relying on this AlphaGraphics for years! Did a fast turnaround for me on large banner and sign project and staff was great. Location in skyway is kind of awkward to get into if you need to do pickup but there is plenty of street parking.

Brie Ochoa: Alina was wonderful when I needed several large scientific posters printed on short notice for a conference and worked with me by phone and email as I was out of the country at the time. As a visitor to Minneapolis, it was extremely helpful to have the courier service deliver the posters to the convention center. Would definitely use their services again.

K. E. Heartsong: It was a very good experience and I look forward to working with alphagraphics again.

Field House: Alpha Graphics always offers the most amazing customer service and a very quick response time.

Ted: I worked with Britta at Alpha when setting up my new business. They provided a logo and a number of printed items. They were easy to work with. Allowed me plenty of revisions. Thanks!

T “TiLee17” S: Thank you Alpha Graphics and Alina who helped us turnaround a printing job on the same day! I highly recommend this experienced, and expert team for your quality printing needs and more. I look forward to using them again.

Nick Abdo: Alina was super helpful and got us the backdrop very fast!! Great communication fast turnaround. Helped us when we were in a pinch.

Levi Purdum: I enjoyed the experience. The staff were friendly and open to conversation. I'm not an artist and certainly an amateur observer of art who greatly enjoyed the leading questions and engagement when offered by staff. In particular the lanky young employee who politely informed me of their water bottle policy before I entered the first exhibit also proved to be a wealth of information. In the very next room another employee successfully challenged me into recognizing a word in what largely appeared to be a jumble of chaos. The statue garden was fantastic and actively enjoyed by children adding a practical value to the inherent aesthetic value.
