Jay Smelkinson: This was my first time at this venue. It's a very chill place with everyone sitting down to watch the show. The food was good, especially the broccolini. I sat in the upstairs and had a great view of the stage.
Billy Cripe: The music was great. View from the back of the 2nd floor was restricted so be aware of that. They seemed understaffed because service was very slow.

Reya Laing: About a decade ago this place was pretty freaking filthy. Good people. Good music. Just reeeeeally dirty. Laurel, the most recent manager, cleaned it ALL up! It's a wonderful hole-in-the wall dive bar. And it still has good music and good people.Parking: The old Wells Fargo parking lot in the back is free, for now. Very well lit, but unmonitored.Wheelchair accessibility: Yup.
Samuel Brounstein: This friendly, oddballed comedy open mic is still one of the most notorious in town despite its recent purge. At the end of a raucous Thursday the hosts play their hearts out with music.
Renee Jones: My favorite dive bar.The bartenders are great! I usually let my favorite bartender Laurel chose my whiskey for the night. They also have the best gin I've ever had.They have a small Jimmy's menu with delicious pizza and breadsticks. Popcorn and other good dive bar snacks.The schedule has different kinds of events all week. Monday is open mic night for music. Tuesday is Industrial / Dark Synthwave night spun by 2 DJs and music videos on the screens.Thursday is open mic comedy.And Friday and Saturday - local bands from all over the Midwest come play! First Avenue is Minneapolis' historic nightclub, made famous by Prince's Purple Rain shot in 1983.First Avenue opened in a former Greyhound Bus terminal in downtown Minneapolis on April 3, 1970. Originally called The Depot, the club brought in prominent national acts. Prince often performed at First Avenue along with other popular artist.Don't forget to see the gold Prince star on the outside of building. Silver stars commemorated key artists who had played at First Avenue. Prince Rogers Nelson died of on April 21, 2016. Its worth a stop if you get a chance to visit Minneapolis.

David Speidel: First time in and I cannot wait to go back. I had the Irish stew which was delicious. Sat at the bar and the bartender was very attentive while the clientele there was friendly. The menu has tons of great options, the atmosphere was perfect, and the service was prompt and welcoming.Went back for a 2nd time and had the cobbler's pie. Also delicious and our service was great.

A teacher, a parent, students, retirees, blue collar folks, criminals, republicans, future criminals, democrats, alcoholics, recovering this or thats, white, black, brown and other. It’s about sipping a drink and talking with whom ever is on a barstool close by. Sharing stories and learning some stuff and most likely you’ll have another just to stay a little longer. A lively patio out back that gets more interesting into the night. Eclectic and diverse live music all year round. I won’t call it a dive bar and it’s not quite a club if anything people come here cause they need a little piece of love.

Earl McLain: I went with friends to see the Jimmy's. It was my first time there. If you want a server, go somewhere else. But if you're looking for an awesome venue with great music, you'll love this place. It packs up quickly, so plan on getting there early and grab a burger.

J Fitzgerald: This place is amazing! It's like an old school roadhouse with really cool murals all over. It's a little run down and not the cleanest bar but that is part of its charm. The Open Blues Jam every Tuesday attracts some fantastic musicians and plenty of people swing dancing on the huge dance floor. You don't see folks getting down like that anywhere else in the Twin Cities!
Jaque Luna: Better known as “El Cancún”. Latin bar most frequented by Mexicans mainly, and therefore they play a lot of regional Mexican music, the DJs do a good job and mix other contemporary musical genres as well. The main track is somewhat small.🗣️ Spanish/English.Parking is a bit limited, so you have to arrive at a good time to avoid having to deal with it.

Fred Reininger: I've learned to love smaller concert venues. This would be one of them. The sound quality is always better and you're not stuck in a massive crowd. It was quite a while back but I got to see The Church perform here. I've been to many of their shows. But the high point of show was running into the band and having a cigarette with them outside. Love the smaller venues. Parking with a bit of a hassle but it was well worth it.

Linda McLoon: It is hard to write a review of a jazz club. Live music is almost always fun, and I like jazz. The main woman was very good. In fact, all the live music I have heard here was good and fun. So this place is great on the music.The food is typical supper club middle America. That is not necessarily bad, as some of it, like the beef sliders, is very good. The rest is fine. The cocktails on their menu are all way, way too sweet. Order your own or do what I did, and have some bubbly. The cheesecake was fine, smooth and rich. The carrot cake was not to my taste, as it was dry, the frosting way too sweet, and the clove flavor was too strong. So, the food is uneven. The service was great, very attentive.So a 5 for music, a 3 for food. We always go with friends, and that makes any evening out fun!They have a large parking lot, which is nice.

Gabriella “Gaby” Jasiczek: Only go to the Wednesday Irish dancing, so I’ve never had a drink or eaten there. However, the people are all incredibly nice and welcoming! I have a blast every week learning more. Food smells great, I plan on trying it sometime.Update: I have tried the pizza! It’s pretty average but for the environment it’s really tasty.
