Perpich Center for Arts Education: what do users think?

Zoey Peterson: My daughter attends this school for media arts currently and I attended for dance in the 90s. I can’t say enough good things about this school. My daughter and I both found “traditional” public schools challenging in the social and academic department but both found the complete opposite at perpich. Obviously no school is perfect but I found and continue to find perpich to be as close to as I have seen

Kathy Berlin: My son received impactful and meaningful education at Perpich Arts High School. The staff are dedicated to the educational growth of each student , offering a supportive environmentThat meets the needs of each student.

Gj Thompson: A great community of artistic individuals where students learn not only about art and academics, but also important skills that are valuable in the transition to adulthood, and in life.

Gabrielle Schenk: I had an incredible arts education at this High School and would recommend it to any student who is looking to express their creative abilities and have beyond excellent teachers/mentors.

Lindsey Pleasants: I spent my junior and senior year here in 03. As a theater major, I learned technical skills and intricate training that I wouldn't have began learning until I was in college, which prepared me for advanced materials and methods of acting that were beyond my age. The staff and dorm team make life on campus easy and much like home, as much as you are living your daily art area. This school made me learn my true potential and I will never forget the dreams inside these hallways.

Colby Brumit: Excellent education centered in the arts. As an alumni I can wholeheartedly recommend. Such an amazing experience!

Annika Homstad: I graduated in 2013 from Media at PCAE. I can easily say that attending the Arts High School was one of the happiest times in my life. I was able to receive an education that fit my learning learning style, and dive into art that I loved. I was allowed to explore both myself, and my voice creatively with the support of amazing, dedicated teachers. I received more support and guidance in preparation for college than any of my friends who stayed at my previous high school. I was able to jump into University with an impressive resume and skills that have served me well. Attending Perpich was an opportunity that I am lucky to have gotten, and I hope that many more individuals like myself are able to discover and thrive at the Perpich Center for Arts Education.

Abigail Marolt: The best life decision I could have made.

Minneapolis College of Art and Design: what do users think?

Aric Bertram: Went for the annual art sale. 2023 had 500 artists and 6,000 pieces of art. $2,000 max price, $50 average.

Daniel Appleby: The campus; the studios, the faculty, the students, the Art, are all first rate! And then the is the location. Adjacent to the Minneapolis institute of Art or MIA which is a wonderful art museum, right down down the street from the Walker Art Center which is an excellent contemporary Art Museum/resource complete with the late great Siah Armajani’s fantastic poetry bridge that takes one over and or back from the lovely Lorring Park where there is much to see and do.

kinderhood: They always seem like they are art minded when I see the students.

noreen swan: So much beautiful art to see all for free!

Laura Giovannini: MIA spectacular exhibition on Japanese textiles

Josh Fay: This is my favorite place in the cities. Endless amounts of art. Impossible to take it all in the same day

PiM Arts High School: what do users think?

Doug Bailey: My grandchild transferred to PIM for this school year after a year of abject misery in Eastview HS in Eagan. This folks are warm, kind-hearted and the teachers are purely brilliant. Every interaction I've had with PIM, ever single interaction has left me delighted. As my grandchild's custodian and guardian I could not have done better than to place him here.

Ray: this is the only school that I've liked which is coolyea

Georgette Jabbour: Amazing school!

Peter Soulen: Great place to teach or send your arts kids to school!

Jacque Jepsen: Love this school, my stepdaughter goes here! Only complaint I have is that we went to her winter performance last night and we were charged 52 dollars to get in for 3 adults and 3 kids, one of which is a baby. I find this pretty rediculous for a public school to be charging his much. I understand for the adults but not for the kids.

anya roberts: The area of arts in this school is amazing! There are so many different classes you can choose from whether they are arts related or academic. The environment here for arts is really supportive and academically the teachers are always willing to help.

Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists: what do users think?

Merope: and I still think about it all the time. I learned so many valuable lessons here that I still use to this day. My confidence and spatial presence grew substantially; skills that can take you far in any field. I love this school and have created some beautiful art with my fellow classmates. I hope you give it a chance.

Demetrius Winegarden: Hello! I am a current junior at this school and transferred in during freshman year. I have been in the theater and visual arts tracks, with also some experience in the musical theater track. The track I’d recommend is definitely theater because it is the most established and has the best staff. This school does have many faults though. It has a large drama and drug problem, administration that does not listen to students, and a racism/ableism problem. I recommend this school to a student with a little bit of experience and very thick skin. This school gives students a lot of freedom to express themselves and have a good time. As long as you stick with the right people, this school can be heaven for someone that suffered in traditional public school. I have heard a wide range of experiences from this school and it will be VERY different for each individual. It’s still high school. It’s gonna suck at least a little.

Jas The Dragon: This is literally the best school I've ever gone to. I'm a sophomore this year, and these two years have been the best school years of my life. I feel so welcome here, and I feel like I fit in so well.

Audrey Wegner: Hiya! I go here and I have for my entire high school experience. I’m a junior right now and this school is pretty awesome. Yeah, there are some small injustices here and there, but the reviews for the vocal track are awful. I’m a vocal student and there’s no other track I’d rather be in. I’ve met good people, learned worthwhile things, and made some strong bonds. There’s not really any reason to hate vocal track. The last reviews are from like 5 years ago. They’re invalid now. I 100% recommend vocal track.

Laney Bork: and I've had a very positive experience with this school. Contrary to many comments about the vocal track,we have created a very inclusive and positive environment for everyone to feel respected and encouraged to make mistakes and grow. The faculty is very unique and we often have guest teachers each year

Aaron Carsten: Positive:Value

The Art Academy: what do users think?

Barbara Mundahl: The Art Academy has taught me so much about art and myself. Their tenet is that making good art is not about talent, but about patience and persistence. I completely trust the instructors and the process. I wish I had discovered the Art Academy sooner! I absolutely love being there.

Heather Chandler: The art academy is an amazing place! I feel so lucky to have found this home away from home. The owners are wonderful and they have taught me so much about art. I love going there and the welcoming environment feels like home!

Gracie Borell: Personally speaking, the Art Academy has brought a lot of growth and meaning to my life. I have seen my art grow with the encouragement from the instructors who truly care about each and every one of their students. They remember students from over 20 years ago and have nothing but kind, inspirational memories of them which is truly remarkable. The teaching style incorporates traditional methods of learning art with the philosophy that art is learnable and anyone who wants to do it can.The school has many connections and often brings in working artists who have made careers for themselves. The Art Academy breaks down the commonly held belief that art is not a viable career. Students at every level have the opportunity to meet peers who will push them in a positive way. I would recommend the art academy to parents curious art student alike, it will really improve your art in all ways possible.

Megan Robinson: I've really enjoyed taking classes here over the years. I started many years ago, as a kid, and then started back up during Covid. I was so happy to find something to do remotely and I've continued classes ever since. Jim is a fantastic teacher! He's patient and has a great eye. These classes can teach anyone to draw. I've had people in my classes just learning the basics, up to master oil painters. It's a diverse bunch of people all learning and having fun together. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in art!

Joel Rogness: approach to art instruction: proscribed and restrained. Perhaps your ten year old would thrive with this contemplative, staid approach to art; ours did not.

Kristine M.: I'd give them more stars if I could. This is art taught as the masters were taught. It is slow, a bit tedious and challenging but your skill will undoubtedly increase as long as you put in the work. This no quicky paint and sip that will leave you with a canned canvas at the end of the night. Nor is it Bob Ross or Sarah from Let's Make Art. Those things are the fast fashion of art classes. This is true study art. After the first term, which has a set progression of projects, you decide what direction or discipline you want next. While I am an adult learner the majority of their classes are for kids and teens, the methodology is adapted to be age appropriate. I cannot recommend The Art Academy enough.

Beth Reilly: Great teachers that teach fundamentals of art.

T Michael Rock: Good teacher and resources to inspire your inner artist.

guk guk: Are the teachers nice/patient?

Robert Noirjean: Excellent way to learn how to draw and paint! Very nice owners/instructors.

Steven Theiss: This place is magic! Jim and Sarah are great art instructors for both youths and adults at all levels.

Ann Knuttila: I love the philosophy at The Art Academy: anyone can draw or paint, it just takes teaching the proper skills and practice, which is exactly what we found at their classes. My 6YO and 8YO get excited every week to come to class and have taken away some great best practices in just a few short weeks. They are learning skills that will forever build their artistic confidence. Everyone at The Art Academy is extremely kind and welcoming. We can’t wait to sign up for more classes!

Lacey: My 7 year old has not missed a session with The Art Academy since he turned age 5. He loves the format and gets so excited about his projects! It is a wonderful experience to have found instruction with a focus on quality over quantity, even with kids starting as young as Kindergarten.

Mary Trojack: Myself and three of my children take classes at The Art Academy. The quality of the instruction is phenomenal. The program itself is the result of years of careful research into the history and technique of painting and drawing. The classes will give you a profound respect for the great masters, and the tools to imitate them. The teachers are warm and encouraging in helping you reach your artistic goals. I have highly recommend this school to my friends and family.

Andrew Short: I've been going to The Art Academy since I was 7, I'm now 22. I've had 15 years of great memories some of which include being an instructor there. The Art Academy has given me confidence in my drawing and painting. If you stick with it you'll learn tons. Honestly I'm still learning new things with every class.

Minnesota Center For Book Arts: what do users think?

Deborah C: Truthfully, I visited because I heard about the gift shop from social media and was blown away. The shop features a ton of local artists, and artists from marginalized communities. They have a huge selection of zines, prints, and greeting cards. I ended up getting four greeting cards and two stickers, but I would've absolutely gone home with more if my bank account allowed for it.

Osman Bayram: Great peoples 👍

Greta Casey: Great makerspace for book artists, library, gathering place for writers, and a nice little gift shop. Added bonus: Milkweed Press!

Jens Holmboe: This place is the best. I have been there twice with my classes and, as a teacher, the experience for the kids is superb.

Chelsey S: Wonderful workshops available from passionate artist professionals. Once you have some experience with the techniques and equipment you can sign up for open ‘lab’ or commit to renting studio time.I attended Marbling 1 workshop with Michelle Blodgett and found it well taught..and the form very addicting!

Seesaw Ching: Love it

Max Schaffer: This place is totally incredible, got an amazing print here I’ve cherished for years and there’s awesome resources for learning all sorts of amazing art styles!

Justin Lee Miller: The best cafe in the neighborhood. Gift shop is nice. Ironically, they don't carry stationary. I guess no one writes letters but me.

Angela Zhang: The set up is very creative and very very nice. The shop is full of trinkets for bookworms and artists. The little zine exhibit there during my visit was great.

rod mason: Printing, typesetting, other book arts

Marti Simmons: Lots of artists and book binders at work. Great store if you love paper and paper arts!
