Scott Schaefers: Had small unusual project of reversing some hinges on old bank teller windows. Jef did a great job. Not a huge job, but one he was willing to take on.
Kelly O'Kane: I was so lucky to find VanMadrone MetalWorks when I started my search for someone to create custom Art Nouveau chairs. Jef was the third person I contacted: the first blacksmith said he made furniture, but when he saw what I wanted said "Oh, no." The second said he doubted anyone could do it. So, I was extra surprised when I contacted Jef and he said "I can do that." And now, when people see the chairs for the first time, they are blown away. And they are comfortable too. Just recently, I went back to Jef about making a matching table, which I have just received. The whole set is a knockout.Jef is so talented and skilled, but what he brings to a project goes far beyond that. Considering the years of experience he brings to the work, his prices are very reasonable. He is great about giving updates when a project is underway. And not only is he a great blacksmith, he has a terrific sense of design. During my custom projects, when there were decisions to be made, Jef offered options that showed both an attention to detail and the overall effect. He was also great at talking through decisions with me and providing feedback on my ideas. On both the chairs and table projects, this created a synergy which made the finished pieces better than I hoped for when we started.If you are like me, and enjoy custom furnishings and artwork, as well as supporting independent artists, you should definitely consider Jef at VanMadrone. I'm already trying to think of the next project we could work on together!

Alyssa Swenson: I took the Scandinavian Knife Making class with Dan and Theo at MPLS MAKE. It was awesome!! They make you feel comfortable using tools that you’re not used to, and encourage you throughout the process. It was really fun and we all ended up with unique, beautiful knives!
Miranda Woodrich: This was my first visit to MPLS MAKE for a welding course by Theo. I enjoyed the class, was impressed by the scope of instruction given, and appreciated the patience and guidance by the instructor. We learned about different welding machines, safety, how to use the equipment which included cutting metal, and each student was given multiple opportunities for hands on welding experience in the class. It was more than I would have imagined in a friendly and relaxed environment. I can't wait to take more classes here and explore MPLS MAKE.

I was a little nervous at first since I immediately thought danger, but Dan and Theo did such a great job explaining the process that I felt confident and safe. The class was informational, interesting and hands on fun! Great for a creative date night.

James Declan: This is one of the best makerspaces I have ever been too. Granted I have not seen everything they offer, but I have a couple other places to compare them too. I used their wide-belt sander to flatten an end grain cutting board and not only did it take 5 minutes, but it only took off about 3/32 in total, not to mention leaving a wonderful finish. If you need to use any of their services, need not ponder, it is worth it considering I drove an hour to get there. I will definitely be considering a membership in the future.

There needs to be more equipment and I heard they used to offer yoga classes but since Covid they have not 😢The staff here are so supportive and it truly feels like this school puts the community in community College. My teachers and admin and other staff have been supportive while I have been dealing with a stalker/abuse situation. I feel fully supported and safe here.I also highly highly recommend the herbalism program because it's one of a kind and the teacher, Erica, is incredibly passionate and enthusiastic about the subject.
Giotto Troia: This review is only for the weight room. The music is horrible. I don't want to listen to jazz music when I'm working out. The attendant on duty said they don't have access to the music... I doubt that.The equipment is a bit old but usable and has a good variety. It's missing some machines like leg extension and some specialized benches. But overall a good selection for a free-for-students gym and convenient if you're already on campus.

Its packed with seemingly endless knowledge, jammed pack full of great help and even more care for the end user. robert raymond: i stumbled on max benson's facebook page for unique metal worx welding, as my partner and i were preparing to move into a new home with a small kitchen with limited counter space. his business's facebook page featured a wide variety of base frames. i took inspiration: namely, why don't i approach him about making the base for a modest sized kitchen island, to which we would add the work surface?long story short? no problem.max's work reflects terrific skill and care. his conceptual acumen was reflected in how quickly he refined my otherwise crude idea. he responded promptly to my inquiries. and over the course of our exchange, max inspired more questions. from project start to finish, he was patient and thoughtful. though we had the option to finish the frame with paint, we opted for unpainted because we preferred the industrial look of the raw metal.in sum, max exhibits the most complementary traits of a true artist: high-level skill, abiding patience, deep understanding of his craft and the materials with which he works, and honesty. the price isn't small. but in being able to work directly with max, we got personalized care and attention, and a piece of kitchen furniture that is ideally suited for where we now live.

Does not Lie: HVAC programskilled proffesionals are hired for this program: Jim, Mark & Wayne.Ask the right questions and you get the right answers.Im especially critical about this school, because its to make people into skilled trades people...yet there are still useless information being taught be being graded upon; things that will NEVER be used in the field in modern day HVAC..HTC ceo/ditector should be replaced, the kitchen isn't open, a whole facility isnt used post-covid because well... He likely wants his/her/pronoun's numbers to be looking good...Your HVAC program is great, but your cat-food-quality free food on wednesdays is terrible and your 'fresh food vending machine' is stale and not fresh.Just hire a good 1-4 line cooks to make meals onsite part time during peak hours and itd be a good schoo, why not include it as part of the culinary trade?Current CEO/director is letting good facilites rot and not used..current director is trash. Get a new one. 100%.I know because i was a director/ceo and sold the company. Hvac is my calling, i love it.
