Kristopher Moen: . It is LOUD in the range. With an average caliber pistol it is LOUD. There was a gentleman shooting an AR and that was very, very loud!Range fees are a bit steep, 30$, probably average twin cities rates.

The South Metro Public Safety Training Facility Board of Directors meets quarterly. Meetings in 2021 are currently scheduled for January 26, April 27, July 27, and October 26.

Police & Fire Tactical Use of Tower (no fire) $85/hour with two hour minimum
$100/hour for hours after 5 PM or weekend hours (includes keyholder fee)
We offer leading-edge resources and opportunities to public safety personnel to ensure the highest quality of training possible.
Facilities include classrooms, tactical gym, firearms simulator, two gun ranges, and a live fire training tower, etc. Courses include MN POST Board accredited classes investigation techniques, train the trainer classes and firearms instruction.
The gun range is open every Friday from 5PM to 9PM, Saturday from 8AM to 2PM and most* Wednesdays from 6PM to 9PM. Cost is $20/lane/45 minutes. Walk-ins only.

David J. Carter: I took, "Foundations Level Handgun Class" on March 18th, 2024. Beau was the instructor. I am a 77-year-old person with arthritis in both hands. The class was good but the instructor, Beau did not understand how hard it is for a person with arthritis to use one hand to operate the buttons, etc on a handgun. He just kept the pressure on me to do it properly. I had a very hard time getting my right thumb to push the button to drop the clip. He did not see that or help me with any other way to accomplish this task.
Samuel Henderson: This is hands down the best defecive training company in the Twin Cities. The CCW class was excellent. Beau and his team take the time to help you individually, no matter what skill level you are. This is the place to start if you're ready to take control of your personal safety.
D S: , I want to emphasize and highlight Defensive Mindset Training’s methods. Simply put, their methods are top of the line. The “before the fight - the fight - after the fight” practical training is, I believe, superior. It takes time and commitment, and is repetitious, which is necessary to be effective. I’ve been training with Beau and his excellent instructors, all of whom bring different perspectives, weekly for 1.5 years, and feel I can go so much further. You can go to a weekend warrior training, but to take in 1.5 hours per week over many months is, I believe, much more effective in changing the brain’s neural pathways so the before, during, and after the fight steps are cemented into one’s brain. I highly recommend Defensive Mindset Training.
JFM: I took the introductory class and permit to carry both from Beau. I thought both were excellent. I particularly like the emphasis, as the company name says, defense. I wish to avoid situations were I need to use a fire arm. But If I do need it I want to win and these classes helped in that regard.
Donald Kramber: I had never fired a rifle before and reached out for instruction. I am VERY happy with the instruction and additional information I got. Very much worth the money and time!

Daniel Furey: , but I would come every week if I could. Everything they teach here is backed by both experience and logic. There are lots of gun gurus out there with varying opinions about a lot of stuff. These guys have their opinions like everyone else, but their opinions are not grounded in bs. Beau is willing and able to give everyone detailed and convincing reasons for everything that is taught. I have never been unsatisfied with a class and have always walked away feeling both like I have improved and that there is more to be done. And hell, it's also a lot of fun. I recommend DMT to everyone I know that carries or wants to carry, and will continue to do so.
Joshua Daubenmeyer: I can't say enough positive things about Beau and his staff, and a top-notch facility as well! This isn't just a gun safety class, it's about practical, situational learning in a safe environment. I've been through a number of different training programs, but none as solid as this.

Ben Frederickson: I wouldn’t go anywhere else for a permit to carry class. The class was thorough and every minute of it contained crucial information. The instructors were incredibly knowledgeable and fun to work with.

The focus on posture, stance, proper handgun grip, handgun shooting positions and safety. Excellent for someone with no experience and also anyone with experience who wants to improve on what they already have.
Hannah Wilkinson: Went here with my Fiance to get professional training with my carry gun. After a short while Bo was able to find that the one I had, had given me a flinch! He also found I had Galloped with each shot, he had the just about fixed by the end of the course!I loved the mindset portion, definitely bring a pen and paper to write down the 5 steps to follow!
LON LUTZ: I began my training here several years ago when the business was known as Sealed Mindset-this ongoing experience, now with DMT has totally transformed how I handle firearms and assess tactical situations in general. Without question this is the most thoughtful, comprehensive program in the area. I highly recommend it

Rick Stafford: The range here is well lit and people clean up their casings well. The lack of a range master inside the range is concerning, especially when there's always a number of staff on duty.They have classes and weekly specials so no matter your comfort or skull level you are sure to find something to pique your interests.The app area is of a decent size and the in site repair center is a nice convenience.The staff seems knowledgeable and are very helpful.

Kevin Emry: I took my carry conceal permit here, it made me feel comfortable in the main room as well as the classroom . The instructor was very knowledgeable about everything that was connected to the class. He was extremely helpful during the live fire part of this class in explaining how to use the 2 hand grip and aiming process.Mike the owner is a excellent gentleman ,who is a great salesman and always finds the time to answer questions about new purchases and will give honest advice on which weapon is right for you even if he doesn't carry it in his stock. I have bought several items here and customer service is what I feel has been unmatched by anybody in the twin cities. The shooting range is top notch with all the newest up to date equipment and very user friendly. So to wrap this up, I will always be a satisfied customer with trust in all the employees working here for a long time to come.

Well…as putting my G-19 back together after cleaning while distracted talking with my son, I put the spring in backwards which jammed up my barrel and slide. Despite research and many attempts, I was unsuccessful. I actually brought my gun in for gunsmithing. I started filling out repair paperwork and MN Firearms takes a look at it, takes my gun back into a room and in 30 seconds brings my gun back totally field stripped! Cost of my inattentive mistake? $0.00. You pay for experience but in this case they gave that for free!

Nikki: Very welcoming to non-member. We took our son there to shoot his new trap gun for the first time. A gentleman met us in the parking lot asked if he could help. Set us up with Jason who was very helpful working with our son to make sure the new gun fit properly. Would definitely recommend several trap and skeet fields. Jason pulled and scored and even marked down when my son was ahead or behind the clays! We will be back great place!

John Edward Ryder: Just finished the intro to handgun class with Zac on 5/4/24. I'd recommend this class to anyone--in fact already have. He was very down to earth and informative. Most importantly I felt safe... And I felt like I learn to better handle my fire arm and promote safety. His tips on aiming gave me pretty good results with most of my shots being in a close cluster. Thank you Zac. Appreciate your military background and informative class

Grant: As a beginner, Zak's handgun course was interesting, safe, and helpful. Zak is a wonderful teacher and very knowledgeable. I would highly recommend the course if you want to learn how to handle and shoot a pistol safely.

Kasee Moon: We've had a household membership at another club in a neighboring suburb for a few years but canceled that to come here. Everyone we've met has been welcoming, knowledgeable, and held safety as the #1 priority, especially Zac in the pistol and rifle range and Josh the manager. Food was delicious, and we've never had to wait for service or attention. Great variety of challenges for shooting, and good setup for siting in/practicing with rifles and pistols. Glad this place is so close to home!

The course is changed up regularly and always challenging.The staff is friendly and I have observed them taking time to answer questions from novice shooters.

William Dufner: It was winter and I hadn't been shooting since the fall. I googled gun ranges and South St. Paul range came up. I loaded my gear, dressed warm and headed out. By the time I arrived it was snowing and my heart sank. When I got there I found a unique heated indoor shooting system. I was thrilled and obviously over dressed. I was excited to sight in my new scope! I started at 50 yds. and hit the target. With help from the Range Officer on the ßpotting scope I was dialed in in no time. I had a great time and tipped him on my way out. Excellent Range and professionaly run. Bill

He is also an excellent instructor with the manner he puts the class at ease, knowing the material and which areas to dwell on, and which to just push thru.There was also our “guest speaker” - they literally had a representative from USCCA come in, and he convinced a few of us to take advantage of their membership being offered. The part that sold me was when he mentioned they’ll get you bailed out on even a million dollar bond. I got a thing about not living in cages. Then the amount of additional training that comes with it, it was a no-brainer for me.The rest of the course flew by, we took breaks, so we weren’t glued to chairs the whole time. The class was interactive, and there were a ton of great questions and anecdotal material shared that helped things make sense and cement the material presented. Some preconceived notions I had coming into the class were addressed thru the course, so now I’m much better educated.You get a cool certificate at the end after the class is presented with a group verbal exam, and you’re on your way to being legally able to apply for your Minnesota Permit to Carry.

T Johnson: Nice Range which is no frills but very adequate. Staff is friendly and very helpful and I have never had any problems there . From some of the reviews it makes you wonder if they are just Trolls that need to run their mouth to feel like they actually matter. Things like complaining that they weren’t allowed to shoot armor piercing rounds. Entitlement in America has gone too far.Every Range encounters people that shouldn’t be allowed to own a gun. People with no common sense and ignorant of gun safety. So instead of complaining next time point something out to staff if you feel it is of concern. They are very safety conscious. And remember you need to be respectful to garner respect in return.This is a nice place to shoot and I will continue to go there. Yes, bring your own bullets. They do have a variety of targets you can buy if you don't have your own and one target is supplied with the Range fee.

The glitzy and trendy ranges are simply that… plus you can’t get a decent shooting distance anywhere else. There is consideration for separation of hi-power calibers from pistol. So you don’t have a full mag dump from an AR next to you! This is a great range.
