Kathleen Fetterly: So sad to see this iconic shop becoming a former gem of the Lake Street scene. I had a wonderful, grounding visit with truly wonderful people today. It’s not just the internet, it’s the overall retail distribution of boots and jeans. While a shop owner may create a certain demand, it is the corporations offering items themselves and outsourcing products that is alienating both the buyer and the shopkeepers who make sure customers are satisfied. I am grateful for the storied past of this wonderful shop.
Linda Atlas: They are my go to store for cowboy boots and everything Western. Their sales people are very knowledgeable regarding the products they sell. I grieve because they are going out of business. I wish them well in their next endeavor.
Liz Becker: It was the place to go for not only me, but my father to go to get riding boots and needed gear. 115 yrs in business from when Lake street was nothing but horse and cart. Really sad to see them go as they knew their leather and quality materials. Took the time to fit both rider and would come out and fit your horse for a saddle. End of an era for multiple generations in my family and I wish the owners the best in their retirement. Closing Sept 2022

Harry Edstrom: Staff is cordial and patient. Great selection of pearl snap shirts. Some of them are pretty wild if you are trying to a Hank Williams thing… You can park in the Lake Wine & Cheese parking lot. It says customer parking only, but I parked there because I was a customer there once.

Witch is fine but the des Moines location is the worst the staff are rude and disrespectful. I had bought a pair of new boots and asked to have my old ones oiled and when I got them back they were dripping with oil and had oil inside the boot. I said something about it and he told me not to complain about a free service. This location is how a store should be ran everyone in the store was very nice and helpful. I made sure to tell our Minnesota shop to stop here instead of the iowa location when they get the voucher.

Jackie Baker: Caveat first: if you wear smaller than a size 7 women's, you probably will not find shoes here. You *might* get lucky in the clearance area, but generally do not expect to find anything in your size. I get it; it's a small shop and they have to buy what will sell to the most people, so I'm not going to fault them for it. That being said, I love this place otherwise. The clothing selection is surprisingly large and they sell many brands that are sustainable, which I appreciate. The clearance area is always fun to browse and you might snag a great deal.

They were my size but were hurting the top of my foot. Ryan, the store manager, was SO knowledgeable. He immediately was familiar with the name and style of my boots and knew right away what the problem was. It was a simple as the thickness of socks I was wearing. He let me try on a different pair of thicker socks and my feet immediately felt better. He let me keep the socks even! This is why Red Wing is the best there is. I will definitely be back in for all my work boots and shoes. A+++ across the board. A stellar product backed by stellar service.

Love V: The manager was so amazing and you can definitely tell that he was so passionate about his job. Did amazing in helping with finding my first pairs of steel toed shoes. Abit pricey, but it's well worth the product and safety needed from one's job or whatever use the shoes will be used for. I sadly decided to return the shoes due to my sister giving me her pair that she didn't need, and due to being in a bit of a financial crunch, I had to return them.... I felt so bad for returning the shoes and worried the manager would make me feel even worse about it but he instead understood and actually empathized plus didn't make it a huge problem.

Joanna Gilbert: If you know what brands your hunting for and which ones to avoid you can have success here. I always come with a coupon. Many of their shoes are cheap and bad, but you can find some good ones too. Their website has many more choices and you can ship them for free and return the ones that didn't work to the store which is super convenient. That said, they need to streamline the return process. It took long and the cashier needed to seek approval everytime they did a return .

He was knowledgeable about hats and fitting, more than willing to shape the hats and cut down the brims, if needed, and was very pleasant to talk with. After we left, my teenage son said how nice the man was, and that he had a great conversation with him, while I was off with my other son. Kudos, sir!

Melissa P: went into the store today in search of some help after using water and stain repellent on my ariat boots from a different stores recommendtion. It left my boots looking terrible and looked like they had been baked in the sun. I was in and out of the store in about 15 mins after showing my boots and asking how too get them back too the darker luster they had been. I checked out with product in hand that we believed would help achieve my goal for my boots. Went home and applied a generous amount of apache cream too a clean cloth and rubbed it in the boots. 45 mins later.... My goodness my boots are back too being the beautiful boots they were again!!! They arent near perfect itll take a little more work on my part yet, I just want too Thank you all at the store for the help!!
