Bobby M: First off I really love Hyland. It’s a beautiful facility and they do a great job maintaining the runs and terrain park especially with this difficult winter that’s been thrown at them. But I’m shocked by the bigotry, racism, homophobia, and bullying I see in the terrain park. Tonight I helped a foreign exchange student whose binding had an issue after someone ran into her. She was stuck halfway down the hill struggling to fix it while kids mocked her for not speaking English. Another young adult was bullying my elementary school son all night trying to shake him off the tow rope. I tried to get him to focus on the nice kids he encountered, but the bullies definitely affect his feelings towards the sport.

Matt Lindholm: HiTempo has always been a good place for skiing and snowboarding gear. They actually take the time to fit you into something that works. Like any shop, they might try to upsell you. Make sure to ask for more affordable options that are comparable. The times something didn't turn out right, they have always been quick to make it right.They have a good selection for gear and even better staff who can help you find the right stuff. You will have to ask about clearance racks, as those tend to be hidden.

Margaret Sipola: I’ve been getting my skis from Hi Tempo since I was a little kid. I recently bought a new pair this ski season and a pair of ski boots. The employees are very helpful on getting you outfitted with everything you need. I used the Footlab for custom insoles, the Footlab people are very knowledgeable and good at explaining what everything should feel like. If something isn’t right with insole you can come back and have them correct it. I learned so much working with them! A nice bonus is the adorable shop dog who’s there to greet you!

Ryan Foley: Great Prices and Excellent Boot FitterI went here because I have two different width feet that are very difficult to get a comfortable ski boot. The team was great to work with. I involved the boot fitter Brad in my ski boot selection due to the challenges with my feet. He measured me, looked at my feet for 20 seconds and said "Nordica Cruise". He molded up insoles an punched out the boot. He's amazing at what he does and a great guy. I've never had boots that fit decent so this purchase was a game changer. With a sale the shop had going on the boots were much cheaper than online prices and the half price deal for insoles when you buy boots through the shop is a steal! I should have done this 10 years ago!

Scot Herbst: These folks really know there stuff, I made a trip from California to get custom fitted for alpine touring equipment, they had gear I simple couldn’t find in-store anywhere out west and I wasn’t comfortable committing to performance ski gear online. Hence the trip to MN, Pierce did not disappoint. Expert fitter Dave scanned me and custom ground my boot profile, Bart and his team pulled my skis and bindings and mounted, tuned and set everything up seamlesslessly. Super professional, passionate, I learned a ton just going through the experience with them. Can not recommend enough. Don’t waste your time anywhere else.

Cole Blodgett: Had the best, most comprehensive boot fitting I’ve ever received today with Kurt. He put his hands on my feet and sleuthed out where my unique fit problems reside. The scanning technology removed all guess work and provided detailed measurables about my foot, ankle and calf which guided the boot fitting process in tandem with his personal expertise. He cut no corners, had me try on several pairs of boots, and asked me questions that decisively guided us to the final boot selection. The fitting process did not end with boot selection however, Kurt continued to fine tune my fit and after a short 30 minutes of labor on his behalf, I left with shells that had been custom punched out appropriately to comfortably accommodate my foot. Excellent experience all around, thank you Kurt.For balance, I’m a late 20’s advanced skier who’s been through 3 pairs of boots in 4 years and have struggled mightily with fit issues my whole life. I ski roughly 15-20 days each winter, mostly out west.

Sarah Manning: This was such a fun experience! I am from TX and just don’t get opportunities like this very much. Jess was AMAZING! She was incredibly patient and helpful. I was a true beginner and I was nervous! She took me from wobbly scaredy cat to capable beginner! I just wanted a winter sports experience before I left MN, and I had so much fun I booked a second session before I flew out! I definitely left with a lot more confidence and skills and would recommend this to anyone wanting to try to learn a new skill!
Ehsan Nahvi: Best place to learn skiing, hone your skills and practice off-season. This was my second time trying downhill skiing. I took a lesson at a ski resort previously, but this one was way better where I got much better feedback and learned far more. The price for the lessons are reasonable too!
Grace Dan Li: Jess, the owner is amazing and super patient with my daughter and me who are brand new with skiing. We should have found this great place earlier. After the first class, we decided to get their class package right away and get ready for the ski season.

The experience is a bit different from skiing on actual snow, but the nature of the setup allows for a lot more instant feedback from the instructor than you'd get on a real slope.

They did an excellent job explaining everything to both of us, and when his feet grew an entire size before the first workout on skis, they were able to swap those unworn boots no questions asked. This year, we sold a few things back during their annual ski swap, and I was shocked they only take a 5% cut of the sale price. We now have a large credit we can spend on some new stuff. Every time we go in, we are greeted with plenty of knowledge staff. They will continue to get our business year after year.

Courtney VanKeulen: Had the best experience at hoigaards today when I went in to get my first pair of ski boots. They took their time and fitted my feet and picked out the best boots for me. Will definitely return for other ski gear in the future!

Unfortunately it did not fit, but I appreciate that he tried to make sure I get the right bag for my situation and saved me from having to return it or call an Uber XL every time I want to use my ski bag.

tyler handeland: The guys in the ski shop saved me today. I leave for a ski trip in the morning and as I gather my ski stuff I realize my skis are in rough shape. I didn’t think there was any chance I could get them serviced in time but the guys in the ski service were empathetic and got to my skis in right away. 1.5 hours later they were ready for pick up, they look amazing, and now I’m ready for the mountain!! I’m so grateful and will be back anytime I need anything ski related from now on!! Highly recommend

Joseph and Chris in the snowboard and ski areas were absolutely the most kind, patient, and helpful people we could have hoped for. We are new to the ski world and another review I read said that this was the place to go if you were new to skiing and needed education/direction. That review was spot on, and I am so thankful we made the trip. Thank you Chris and Joseph for helping us find exactly what we needed to make our first adventures into skiing ones that will be successful and enjoyable. Y’all deserve every imaginable accolade one could think to speak!

Vernon assisted me in education on the different types of skis, boots, binding, poles and even inserts for my feet. I was able to be fitted and left with a great pair of skis!
