Minnesota Veterans Home: what do users think?

Kathleen Parsons: My father moved in the beginning of this year and it has been wonderful. He seems content and all the staff, aids, nurses and volunteers are very professional and always seem happy to care for the veterans.

Steve Preese: My dad was here for a little over a year and it was wonderful. The staff was great. I have nothing but praise for everyone there. Thank to everyone at The Minnesota Veteran Home.

Anna Tyree: Volunteered at Minnesota Veteran's Home, Minneapolis, MN.

Loren Evers: My Dad was a resident for many years. The building is always clean and well kept. The staff is fabulous and cares deeply for the residents. Our veterans deserve a great place to live, and this is it!

M. Harlan Paulson: Such a beautiful campus always kept immaculate.

Mamawarrior: This place is wonderful for veterans, the staff are amazing. They took outstanding care of my grandfather in law for 5 years. Towards the end while he was passing the staff were there continuously asking us if we needed anything. I was so impressed with how much they care about these elders.

Mark Esslinger: Excellent location right on the river with walking paths and nature everywhere.

Steven Eid: I've spent a lot of time here and I'm glad to say our Veterans are being taken care of here. There is always room for improvement but I'd definitely bring a family member here or would go here myself when the time is right. Kudos to the Minnesota legislature and VA homes employees for enabling a respectable facility for our veterans that have sacrificed more than any one of us could ever imagine.

Benedictine Living Community-Minneapolis: what do users think?

Rosemary Wieting: Great place to work!! I embrace the mission and the care we provide.

Vanlee Massaquoi: I am a currently employed at this company. The staff are amazing. We go above and beyond to assists our family. We don’t see them as just “residents” they are our family. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Abdirahman Abdi: Best place to work and bring your loved ones!

Ali Haverstock: My dad was there for 3 years. The entire staff was unbelievable as far as expert care. I loved all of the staff! The dedication was unparalleled. The nurses would often miss meals to care for their patients. What sacrifice. I worked at a Nursing Home where the priority of the nurses was their coffee breaks.I was literally the only 1 to answer the emergency bells. St Benedictine is my favorite nursing home by far. I have been singing at homes since age 3.Sincerely YoursAli Haverstock

Chico Barrett: Because right now they're taking care of my wife who has stage 4 ALS They are not perfect but what place he is the staff for most part of them Are very kind and helpfulI will keep you all updated.

The Pillars of Highland Park: what do users think?

Greg McGee: I can't say enough good about Highland Path. My parents were lucky to call it 'home' for 6 years. They started in Independent Living and my father spent a short time in Assisted Living. The closeness of the residents and community spirit was felt by our entire family. The staff was cheerful and helpful. The facility was clean, fresh, and bright.

Steve Ukes: Our mother lived at the Pillars of Highland for over 3 years first in Assisted Living and then in Memory Care. She was reluctant at first in moving in, but after being there she liked being there. Our family was thrilled with the care she received there and the loving and caring community she was apart of. She received excellent care and enjoyed participating in the activities. My wife and I highly recommend The Pillars of Highland!

Michele Gorden: The Pillars of Highland Park is a beautiful community with outstanding staff that are dedicated to making sure their residents have fun and are well cared for.

Joel Denney: The Pillars of Highland Park is a beautifully updated community in a wonderful neighborhood. The dining room is amazing...the large windows give the feeling that you are eating outside, but with indoor comfort. I can see why residents choose the Pillars of Highland Park. What a great place to call home!

Diana Meier: This is a BEAUTIFUL place - very clean and well-maintained, and the admissions staff will bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable and meet your needs!!! Thank you SO much to Margi and Diana - you are FANTASTIC!!!

Caroline Carter: Great place to work! Fabulous coworkers and wonderful residents we serve. I love how everyone seems like family!

Jen Bet: This place is amazing! The staff really cares about the residents. I would recommend to anyone looking for an assisted living for their loved ones.

Matthew Skelly: Great place with an amazing staff

Debra Kerr: I wish I would've known about The Pillars of Highland Park a few years ago when we had to move my dad into an assisted living-memory care home. He would've loved it here! After he passed, I changed careers and I now work at The Pillars of Highland Park. It's a great place to work and a great team to work along side! I recommend it for your loved one who needs a home or for someone who's looking for a career in senior living care as it's a great place to work!

Mariah Hummel: The employees at this facility do a great job! I would recommend working or living there!

Suzanne Frances: Back in October 2020 we were considering moving my mum into the independent portion of this facility and I would move in and take care of her there. This did not happen because my mother wanted to stay at an assisted living facility. However, our experience working with Diana and the other staff at The Pillars was wonderful. They explained everything very thoroughly and in complete detail. The tour of the facility was quite good and Covid procedures were followed. The apartment we looked at was BEAUTIFUL!!! I appreciated the large windows and loads of light. The counter in the kitchen was HUGE!!! If I needed a place to stay, I would make a beeline to this place.

Christina Newman: Beautiful community with the most friendly and professional staff!

Stephen Jones: The staff at the Pillars truly cares about their residents and family. Folks are treated like family!

Richard Chiodo: I personally can't say enough good things about the Owner Mr. Ryan, Margi the Manager and the entire staff. I work as a Firefighter/Paramedic and service the Pillars. They are very professional and take great care of their residents. They are very generous to community and truly make it a place where residents can feel welcome. The residents always seem happy and well taken care of.

Jane Fennell: Margi gave us a very thorough tour of the senior living apartments. She was very informative and answered all of our questions. Margi is a delightful person and is definitely in the right job! We would not hesitate to contact her again if we need more information. The facilities are bright and beautiful. Thank you, Margi.

Camille Gagnon: I have personally worked with the staff and residents at The Pillars of Highland Park and have only the highest compliments to share. Just to name a couple: Margie and Diana are staff who really care. I would recommend this senior living facility to all!

Holly Schultz: Had a wonderful tour of the facility with my Mom. Margi was informative and so helpful answering all our questions. The Pillars of Highland Park is a beautiful community!!

Stephanie Bartling: My parents moved into HIghlands/Pillars about six months ago. From the beginning, it has been an exceptional experience. The staff is positive, friendly and personally connected to each person there. They greet my parents by name, know their preferences at dinner, and even compliment them on new outfits--that just shows the level of care they take. Our interactions with management have been just as positive, from the activities staff, nursing coordination team and the staff that first showed us the apartment. The moving service they use was also amazing--a quick, easy, and thoughtful move. It was like a Home and Garden TV show--one day everything got packed up and the next day my parents walked into their completely designed and decorated home with everything beautifully arranged--and my parents have really good taste, so that did not go unnoticed. We are so glad we made this move. It has been perfect.

Jerry Monson: The facility is extremely well maintained, bright and conveys a cheerful appearance. Commons areas are ample and hallways are wide and well lit. The staff we met were neat, well versed and helpful in every way. We were treated to a wonderful lunch as a bonus.

Gracewood Advanced Assisted Living and Memory Care: what do users think?

Rondria Smaller: Being a staff member it's a good team to be apart of, everyone feels like family.

DiAnn Jones: We are at Gracewood celebrating a friends birthday. The staff here as fine a dynamite job decorating and supplying drinks and snacks. Thank you so very much!

LOUISE MUELHAUPT: Beautiful presentation for Dale’s Birthday party . Festive , happy and bright . Thank you ! I’m

Alyssa Funari: I’ve worked at gracewood for over a year and I love the community it’s a second home for me!

Marina Natarius: The team members provide good assistance and care to my father for a long time. I appreciate their attention and help to my dad. This facility is very clean all the time and food is excellent.Marina N.

Jill Schafer: I had a wonderful experience with the staff at Gracewood. In particular, I appreciate the amazing welcome and settling in process. From the management office to the health care staff to the warm care on the floor -- our experience was tremendous.

Nicole Dardis: I work with a company that has a working relationship with Grace Wood. This is one of the facilities I absolutely enjoy going too to complete my in-person assessments and visits. The facility manger and nurses are willing to work with families and additional care teams that are signed on. Highly recommend this place!

Maggie Slattery: My family's experience of moving my brother to Gracewood was exceptional. His housing fell through without notice. We were in great need to find him new housing. Taylor, the regional sales director and Joanne, Gracewood’s manager worked very quickly in getting all the paperwork etc. completed in order for him to move in. Just the support we needed at the time, so grateful! My brother is happy there. He says the people are nice and it’s a nice place to live!

Anne Hoeg: Our family looked at multiple facilities to place mom in for her Alzheimer's condition. There were many with waiting lists and many of the facilities were very expensive. The staff at Gracewood worked with us over the phone, via emails and in person to make their facility a wonderful match for mom. It is not too big and the location was fantastic for many family members to visit. The staff at Gracewood made mom very comfortable and we never sensed that she was afraid or confused. The staff never hesitated to interact with mom and keep her active. They were also very welcoming and accommodating to our family when we would visit. Gracewood was always clean and the staff very personable.

Jean: My husband was a resident in the memory care area of Gracewood Highland. I did research online before moving him there. I also did a tour. I liked the fact that Gracewood is a small enough community that residents and staff can get to know each other well so that they become like a family. My husband's room was a good size for him, large enough to accommodate everything he needed. The staff who work in long term care facilities make or break the experience for the residents. I was so impressed with the house manager. She treated my husband and his unique needs with genuine concern and respect. The nurse was attentive to his medical history and plan. My heart was touched by the extraordinary kindness shown by so many of the caregivers. I also want to note that my husband's stay was during the COVID pandemic and Gracewood had no infections among staff or residents--and that shows a high quality of care.

Elena Tivyan: We are really happy with the care our mom receives at the Gracewood!

Anna Grussendorf: This facility is clean and beautiful, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Nice, quiet neighborhood. I definitely recommend it.AnnaHighland Park, Saint Paul.

Karen McLaughlin: Gracewood really cares about their residents and work with you on difficult situations. With dementia and Alzheimer's they are dealing with the brunt of it and it takes a lot of care especially in the late stages. I would get annoyed that my dad's glasses would go missing, but considering how much he has taken they are doing well! I think expectations need to be fair. Yes it is expensive, but compared to other places it is in line. It really has a homey feel and doesn't feel like a nursing home from the 70's at all.

Christina Miller: My family is very pleased with the staff at Gracewood. The staff provides a secure pleasant welcoming environment for my mother during her golden years. Pricing is very fair, room and board is all included. Very convenient location in a nice quiet neighborhood.

The Kenwood: what do users think?

Eve E Sweetser: When our mom first moved to the Kenwood she wasn't sure she would stay but was giving it a try. Within 6 months, she was an active member of the Kenwood community, involved in many different discussion and activity groups. She stayed for 13 years, and couldn't imagine moving anywhere else. She had a personal relationship with her weekly housekeeper, as she later did with the kind aides who came in to help her out through her final failing months before she passed.Mom participated in the gardening group and loved eating out on the terrace in summer. She enjoyed having a meal with friends in the dining room. She started a scrabble group that ran for years, and participated regularly in the current events discussion group. Until she was apartment-bound, she used the exercise room. The Kenwood has so much available. We also cannot thank Jenny and the Kenwood staff enough. During the early stages of the pandemic, they kept COVID safely out of the building until the vaccines arrived. And during Mom's final illness, Jenny and Karen and Andrea and Alex and Connie were constant supports to our family, helping in ways that simply aren't part of any rental contract.

Amanda Hankins: The Kenwood is a wonderful place to live, my grandmother has been a resident there for three years now. The staff are all amazing, always willing to help. I highly recommend The Kenwood.

Matt Rhodes: They always have such a good variety of activities. There is something for everyone. There are lots of interesting and fun outings. The have entertainers in to perform as well.

Heather Potter: Kenwood is a clean, friendly, quiet and seemingly happy place to be with great views of downtown. I encountered many staff who were friendly and engaging in the common areas, kitchen, and hallways. Tenants were out and about and the staff seemed to know them well and everyone just seemed happy to be there, both working and living.

Jon Fisher: The Kenwood is located in a beautiful neighborhood in Minneapolis. The management staff is very knowledgeable, and exceptionally kind. The staff are engaging, pleasant and genuinely care for the residents who live there. The facility is well maintained, clean and has always felt very safe.We would highly recommend The Kenwood.

Jean Kitzmann: I have witnessed the caring atmosphere of the Kenwood. The residents appear pleased and content with their surroundings. They have great outings, special events and a caring staff!! Precautions are taken for their safety. I would strongly recommend this facility for you or your loved one.

Kimberly Werner: I posted a review about a year ago extolling the virtues of The Kenwood and how happy my mother was there. At that time, she had been living at The Kenwood for a few months. Now, a year later, we are just as pleased. I say "we" because having her so happy and well cared for not only makes me happy, it also means I don't need to worry. I highly recommend The Kenwood. While my mother uses a wheelchair and needs a certain level of assistance, I see residents of all levels of independence, and everyone seems to be happy and enjoying life.

Karl Voiles: always available and who made our transition from Oregon to Minneapolis seamless. Many of the staff have been here for years, which speaks to the good relationship between management, staff and residents. We look forward to many happy years here.

K W: I moved my mother to The Kenwood three to four months ago and we both could not be happier. Previously she had been in a "good" facility in another state. Her experience at The Kenwood has been far superior to anything we ever dreamed of. It is worth noting that my mother uses a wheelchair and requires assistance with transfers. The staff at The Kenwood quickly learned what works best with my mother on those transfers. Equally, or maybe even more importantly, they provide this assistance with dignity and courtesy. So not only is my mother getting the assistance that she needs, nobody is treating her like a burden.Of course, no place is perfect and we have encountered a few small issues, particularly as part of her transition. The Director was immediately responsive and then followed up. Any place that depends so much on staff will have an issue at some point, but the level of responsiveness turned these small issues into positives because my mother knows that if she has a concern she will be heard. It's worth noting that the staff are wonderful. I was told this and now I have seen it. Again, my mother previously was in an assisted living facility. It is a real breath of fresh air to feel that The Kenwood staff actually like their jobs. There are more positives. The activities are multiple, diverse and of good quality. As are the residents. I think these two things go hand in hand. I would describe The Kenwood as a community of vibrant, out-going older people. While they may need some degree of assistance, they are very much alive! The food is also excellent and varied. The variety is especially worth noting. Even good food can get boring if you've seen it too often so I am especially impressed by the continued fresh takes on the menu. The location is also a plus. The Kenwood is just off the highway, so I can get there from my house in Como in just minutes. It's probably easy to get to from just about anywhere in Minneapolis. For me this makes it easy to stop in to drop something off, say hello, etc. and not feel like its a big deal because I had to drive so far. The immediate neighborhood is beautiful and the Walker Arts Center and Sculpture Garden are just a few blocks north. A short distance to the south on Hennepin Ave is Kowalski's Market and several of our favorite restaurants are in the Uptown area.I've done my best to provide objective reasons why we are so pleased with The Kenwood, but the best part for me is knowing how happy my mother is.

Heather Wang: The Kenwood is a wonderful place. Everyone is so friendly, both the staff and the residents. You couldn't ask for nicer people. Mom's seventh-floor apartment has lots of windows and light, and room for everything she wanted to bring with her when she moved in two years ago, including her piano. It's an easy walk to the Walker Art Center Sculpture Garden and an even easier walk to a beautiful neighborhood park a block away. They have a very nice dining room in the building that serves good food, where I occasionally joined Mom for meals pre-Covid. During the last year and a half, the staff at the Kenwood has kept all the residents safe, and I truly appreciate that. I am so grateful for that. But I very much hope Mom never has to go through another round of extreme isolation again. The people who live at the Kenwood are an independent, energetic, accomplished group, who engage with life and the community. And they, together with the equally wonderful and accomplished people who work there, make it the good place to live that it is. Highly recommend.

Barbara Snow: residents contracting the virus. Zero. They are constantly evaluating and looking for better processes and outcomes for the residents. A gem of a place.

Diane Richard: My parents left their home of 62 years and crossed state lines—during Covid, post Floyd uprising—to live at The Kenwood. Though nothing about the timing of their arrival was ideal, they have settled in beautifully. The friendly and helpful Kenwood staff have made them feel welcome and invigorated, and they are getting to know others as social activities spring back to life. My folks are joiners; they sit in the front row during yoga and movies and are first in line to hear concerts at Lake Harriet. They like the independence of their own kitchen—and making me run around town for groceries. I believe they feel “at home” at The Kenwood. And I have peace of mind that they have the support they need to live independently. Also, The Kenwood was among the first senior buildings to get access to the vaccine—a HUGE relief for me! The protocols kept residents safe, and now my 90-something mom and dad are flourishing.

Judith Tennebaum: The Kenwood has been providing a warm and supportive community for my brother. He has felt comfortable, safe and well-cared for through the pandemic and local unrest. He has made good friends and has especially enjoyed the activities within the building. The nursing care has been kind and thoughtful and communicated well with his family.

Kim Heckmann: If you are looking for an assisted living facility for yourself or loved one you have found it. The Kenwood is really an amazing place. Staff are absolutely fabulous, all of them! The building is very nice, interesting activities and the most impressive thing is that everyone I’ve talked to that lives at The Kenwood loves it, I mean they really love it. You can feel the upbeat positive vibe throughout the facility. The Kenwood should be a blueprint on how to do Assisted Living right. Kudos to everyone there for having such a great place! So thankful!

William M. “Bill” Weir: Wonderful welcoming by

ruth Lewart: Love living in the place, including all the workers, main complaint is the elevators.

Katherine Spaeth: My grandfather lives at The Kenwood. Recently he has needed more services and it was seamless to add additional nursing care. Moreover, the people who have helped and responded to my grandfather have been stellar. Before he needed extra help, Rosa-in housekeeping-was always so kind and attentive to him without ever needing to ask- she went beyond her job to genuinely care for him. Thank you!!!
