Birchbark Books & Native Arts: what do users think?

Emilia: This bookstore is really beautiful and has a great selection of both native and non-native authors. There are also an assortment of handmade gifts that are clearly made with care. When I was there today one of the employees helped me find some horror books. They had lots of good suggestions and were friendly and genuine.

Lee Witte: Fun and friendly neighborhood book store.

Deborah Weddle: Great local bookstore focusing on Indigenous authors and books. Staff was exceptional in helping our YA readers finding books of interest!

Brooke K. Carlson: Haven't been in ages. Wish I lived closer. Need to make a point to visit again sooner.

Aimee Roberson: One of my favorite bookstores!

Kyle Herberg: Fun store with a great selection of books and other gifts.

Jade: I bought a book online and it came a week earlier than they estimated! Support native-owned businesses!!!

Linda Wabanimkee: My second visit to this amazing bookstore. I came away with four books, three were Native American authors and a card, postcard, a couple of bookmarks. I also order online. Stopped in here while we visited Minneapolis.

Kara Kelso, Commercial Real Estate Consultant: . This shop has an amazing selection of Indigenous books — it was so hard to choose what to get! Oh, and the confessional from The Sentence is in the shop which is great. I am really looking forward to coming back to this shop.

Gerald Friest: My wife and I have bought several books from Birchbark Books over the last couple of years. We also received a wonderful recommendation from a staff person about a series of youth books that our granddaughter has reread several times. The staff are always friendly.

Thomas Robertson: Nice store

Magers & Quinn Booksellers: what do users think?

Terry J: Wow! Great selection and even better staff. I ordered two books online for in-store pickup. There was some confusion as to the whereabouts of book #2 but the store clerk made it her mission to find it long after I had resigned to not getting the book this day. Well, she succeeded. Do NOT buy on Amazon. Support independent booksellers. You get more than just great literature. You get passionate, helpful humans.

Tiko Lieou: Great to have this independent bookstore in the neighborhood. With so many businesses closing in Uptown, glad to see they're still doing pretty well. It's nice they seem to always have a weekly author event. Big plus for being dog friendly with treats at the front.

Miranda Montes: I love this shop! I am new to the area and happened to walk past and check it out. They have a large selection of both new and used books, along with gifts and stationery. The staff was so helpful. They helped me find a used copy of a book I was looking for at a great price. I've been back since my first visit, and am sure I will be back many times in the future. For a perfect little 'self care' treat on a weekday I highly suggest stopping in and picking up a new book and then making your way over to Kim's a couple of doors down for a happy hour drink while you start your new book.

Will P: An uptown landmark and a Minneapolis destination for all book lovers and avid readers!

Terry O'Dell: Vast and extremely large bookstore in Minneapolis. Can get lost in the rows of books with many to choose from. Worth a stop if you're a book fan.

Andy Acker: Longtime fan of this bookstore: a lot of new and used books that are well- organized by section, and also laid out for the hungry mind that loves to explore ideas and find new things, rather than only what you're looking for. I hope they stay there forever.

Sean McStravick: Such a great store. Well curated selection of both new and used books and an awesome staff.

Devin Oglesbee: Outstanding service on a busy Saturday. Accidentally crossed paths with M&Q while enjoying a sunny weekend in Uptown. Asked for help with finding a paperback copy of The Boys in the Boat. Who knew that they had a “Sport Section?” The desk attendant was happy to help and knowledgeable.

Toni Knorr: Extremely helpful and kind staff. Great selection of books! The entire place gives a feeling that makes you want to browse for hours.

Sophina So: . I will not be selling here again.

Jonathan Heart: Hey, Magers & Quinn: I exclusively bike to your store. Ya hear? You're a great bookstore with great staff. But quit with the parking spots agenda. Sell books please.

Arthur Fermor: best bookstore

Halley Boesen: I've been buying books from this store for a long time. They have an excellent selection and great variety. Lots of very queer and very leftist content! Love it.

Tori Wensloff: great local bookstore! could wander for hours, great selection and very fun that they’re open late, you don’t see a lot of late night bookstores. i keep coming back!

Josephine Morris: I absolutely adore this bookstore. I first discovered it a couple of years ago, and keep coming back for more. They have an extremely wide collection of books, puzzle, notebooks, ect. There really is something for everyone here. The feeling of walking into Magers and Quinn is wonderful and doesn't compare to a large chain like Barns N' Noble. Support your local indie bookstores!

Minnesota Center For Book Arts: what do users think?

Deborah C: Truthfully, I visited because I heard about the gift shop from social media and was blown away. The shop features a ton of local artists, and artists from marginalized communities. They have a huge selection of zines, prints, and greeting cards. I ended up getting four greeting cards and two stickers, but I would've absolutely gone home with more if my bank account allowed for it.

Osman Bayram: Great peoples 👍

Greta Casey: Great makerspace for book artists, library, gathering place for writers, and a nice little gift shop. Added bonus: Milkweed Press!

Jens Holmboe: This place is the best. I have been there twice with my classes and, as a teacher, the experience for the kids is superb.

Chelsey S: Wonderful workshops available from passionate artist professionals. Once you have some experience with the techniques and equipment you can sign up for open ‘lab’ or commit to renting studio time.I attended Marbling 1 workshop with Michelle Blodgett and found it well taught..and the form very addicting!

Seesaw Ching: Love it

Max Schaffer: This place is totally incredible, got an amazing print here I’ve cherished for years and there’s awesome resources for learning all sorts of amazing art styles!

Justin Lee Miller: The best cafe in the neighborhood. Gift shop is nice. Ironically, they don't carry stationary. I guess no one writes letters but me.

Angela Zhang: The set up is very creative and very very nice. The shop is full of trinkets for bookworms and artists. The little zine exhibit there during my visit was great.

rod mason: Printing, typesetting, other book arts

Marti Simmons: Lots of artists and book binders at work. Great store if you love paper and paper arts!

A M: I found this place by chance the night before, when I was looking for coffee shops in the area. This is a pretty small space, but very warm and inviting. These folks are still practicing covid safety protocols which is extremely reassuring, and they have an expansive selection of leftist political books, various categories ranging from theory and history to cooking and mental wellness. They even have children's and young adult books! There's something in here for everyone, and I'm really glad I visited. Will definitely be back whenever I find myself in the area again!

The Book House in Dinkytown: what do users think?

Harry Weisenborn: amazing selection, very reasonably prices

Tovin Sannes-Venhuizen (Tovin): Greatly enjoyed my visit to this bookstore, the staff was wonderfully helpful in helping me attempt to find a few specific books and the books were reasonably priced. I was especially happy with the large Natural History and Ecology section.I was amused by the sorting of the books meant for readers with perhaps questionable tastes, where the four sections were sorted into “Smut / Filth / Sleaze / Erotica”One common theme i’ve noticed in many small bookstores is the prevalence of communist literature, while I do not necessarily disagree with it, it’s an interesting trend between stores. Would’ve enjoyed talking to the staff about their opinions but ran out of time, perhaps on my next visit.Free books on cart in street, enjoyed browsing them as well.

Halley Boesen: 🍉❤ Amazing bookstore with so much queer and political history. Chill atmosphere, friendly staff, and fair prices! They also have graphic novels, comics, local zines, and a free zine library right when you walk in!

Em Christie: The Book House in Dinkytown is like a TARDIS - it’s bigger on the inside! What looked like a small shop revealed a maze of stacked shelves, all clearly labeled and organized, so finding what I was looking for was easy peasy. The staff were helpful and friendly. And IT SMELLS FANTASTIC in there. That book smell - gets ya every time!

Jim Miller: Today was my very first visit. I should have been there long time ago. I was impressed by the selection and quality of chess books. More importantly, I was impressed by the kindess and helpfulness of the bookseller. He was very polite even before opening the store! I felt like I was visiting family: very welcome. I loved the cozy atmosphere of the store. Put another way, if I could give The Book House five HUNDRED stars, it would make my grade more accurate. Thank you.

David Behsman: This is a fantastic book store! I was pleasantly surprised at the great selection. The prices are very fair as well.

April Gentling: Been here a couple of times. Such a cute lil place. Love going in and looking around. It feels like a maze!! Super fun and the people there are very helpful.

Lilly: Absolutely love this little bookstore. They have a unique selection that caters to nearly anybody and at such good prices. Store owners are kind. I could sit in this place all day, everyday.

Emily Feicht: We love the sheer number of non fiction books and foreign language works! Classics and newer works are widely available. Lots of hard covers, even before discussing the rare books. There's a rewards program and periodic sales by genre. It's well traveled with lots of stock turnover.

Erika J. Worley: Walls of books!!!!!!

jon hinton: Wonderful little book store.

Camille McCallum: The Book House in Dinkytown is an absolute treasure trove for book enthusiasts! This vintage bookstore is a hidden gem in Minneapolis, boasting an impressive collection that includes rare first editions, signed copies, and collector's editions. The variety across genres is extensive, ensuring there's something for every literary taste. The charm of discovering hidden literary gems adds an exciting element to the browsing experience. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness enhance the overall atmosphere, making each visit a delightful journey through literary history. If you're a book lover seeking unique finds, The Book House in Dinkytown is a must-visit destination, earning it a well-deserved five stars!

Dave Campbell: Great independently owned bookstore with a wide variety. Staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming.
