Ben Glaros Guitar Lessons: what do users think?

Evan Quinnell: I highly recommend Ben Glaros for guitar lessons in Minneapolis! After years attempting to teach myself, lessons with Ben brought the extra kick I needed to learn. Ben is incredibly talented, knowledgeable, patient and creative. All qualities you want in a teacher. He's able to break down concepts and songs of all genres into approachable lessons. Most importantly, Ben understands the deeper meaning behind music and brings that energy to his teaching. If you're looking for lessons in the Twin Cities, Ben is your guy.

Joe Charboneau: I started to re-learn guitar over a year ago after a lapse of many decades. After a year of teaching myself with online content, I reached a plateau. I found Ben Glaros after some online searching for instructors and I’m glad I started working with him. He has a very steady and encouraging teaching approach that has helped me correct some poor habits and get on a path for faster learning. Ben is great to work with!

Sam Marzouk: Ben is AMAZING! He is not only incredibly knowledgable about the guitar, but as an uncanny ability to break down complex concepts in a simple, digestible way. Of equal importance, he is also just an incredibly nice guy! I never thought I'd get this far on the guitar and thanks to Ben, I have!

Robert Brown: Wow, what a great opportunity for me, and maybe for you…. Ben was impressively easy and open, and instructive! I’m eager to take more classes from Ben.

Terry Johnson: Update. See below as all is still valid. Two things I neglected to mention. Ben also taught me the framework of songwriting & music theory. Both, coupled with the guitar knowledge he imparted, enabled me to move to a musical career … 24 plus songs with recording & performance starting later this year.Ben Glaros is an outstanding guitar teacher. His knowledge is phenomenal. What I enjoy the most about Ben is his teaching style. He is enthusiastic, very patient, and knows how to instruct at the right level. He challenges you to explore areas of music that I never thought I would hear coming from my own guitar. And it sounds beautiful.I encourage you to take lessons from Ben. You will never be disappointed and I guarantee your knowledge of music will soon surpass your greatest expectations.

Andrew Cholakian: Ben’s a great teacher, knowledgeable, fun, patient, and with an incredible depth and breadth of guitar wisdom

Mark Zukor: I can’t recommend Ben highly enough! He's patient, supportive, knowledgeable, and makes learning fun—basically, everything you’d want in a guitar teacher. I’ve only had a handful of lessons so far but I’m amazed at how much I’ve gotten out of each one. Ben is a rare teacher who’s not only an expert musician but also has a real sense for how to teach. Somehow, he’s able to focus in on exactly what I need to know, at the right time, in the right way. Each lesson has unlocked a whole new level of understanding for me that’s been super exciting and inspiring!

Ian Crawford: I've been playing for 20+ years and I teach guitar as well, but I've always felt there were some large gaps in my skills and knowledge so I reached out to Ben for lessons. It was definitely the right choice! Ben is an excellent teacher whose student-centered approach makes lessons both relaxed and deeply engaging. I especially appreciate Ben's talent for explaining musical concepts clearly and giving practical assignments that offer just the right amount of challenge. On top of learning technical skills and theory, I've also gained a lot from Ben's insights into musicianship. Highly recommended!

David Shulman: Positive:Communication,Professionalism,Quality,ValueI am a rank beginner on guitar and an old dog to boot. Ben is a real pro and has a knack for imparting great insights and techniques. I leave each lesson inspired to continue learning. My only complaint is the lessons are over before you know it! Highly recommend.

Nils Wulfsberg: Positive:QualityI've been taking lessons with Ben for roughly a decade now, and he's really helped me grow as a musician. We've learned music from all types of genres ranging from hard rock, to jazz, to classical guitar. The location is nice and welcoming as well.

MacPhail Center For Music: what do users think?

Christine Swenning: Attending music matters luncheon with family

Mischa Ortega May: I have had piano here for 9 years and the atmosphere and teachers are all super nice.

Arianna Xu: Ive been going here for 8+ years it has been pretty good

Alyssa Joye: My experience with MacPhail was nothing but amazing. My voice teacher, Thomas Speckhard was the best. I had to pause my voice lessons because of school, but I hope to return again once my schedule is more manageable. I learned so much about voice and singing from teacher Tom, and I appreciate his approach for an aspiring-frustrated singer like myself. Lol. He is the best! Thank you, MacPhail.

Debbie Willoughby: Today my granddaughter won a panio. A true blessing for us. We met the people who donated the piano such a blessing. My granddaughter was able to play for them.A bless day.A beautiful school. Thank you to the staff.

St. Paul School of Music: what do users think?

John Doe: Rick is a great teacher and I’m really glad that I found this school of music. I wasn’t sure if classes would benefit me or not but I am positive now that lessons are key, as long as you have a great teacher like Rick. He gets to know you and your goals and helps you to get there with a great method. I’m very thankful for him and the school. I do online lessons since I moved and the quality is just as good. Thank you so much!

R M: Simin Fani welcomed our teenager into her beginner session with kindness, gentleness and smiles. She brought our daughter out of her shell with no pressure or expectations. Simin provides a comfortable and calm environment that is easy to learn in. The lesson books are wonderful, and Simin helps with personalized notes on the pages so that working on the music at home is understandable and meaningful. Our daughter thoroughly enjoys the classes and continuing on with Simin!

Brittany Chaffee: I love St.Paul School of Music! Working with Rick to get set up with classes was entirely seamless. And my teacher was incredible. I wanted to take up violin for the first time and I didn't feel intimidated or out of place. Great for beginners and advanced! Highly recommend!

Carly Anderson: Wonderfully inviting group of people, teachers that are flexible with scheduling and 2 recitals x year where students get to showcase their work! Very motivating to practice when there is a performance to work towards every 6 months. Lots of exposure to other instruments as well. Teachers make it fun.

Megan Dunsmore: Priscilla has been an amazing instructor for our son who has a developmental delay. She has adapted the approach to meet his needs and his progress has been incredible.

Sean Grimes: Learning with Priscilla has been fun and easy! I am an adult learning piano for the first time and lessons here have been transformational in my progress and attitude of learning an instrument. No matter what style you are looking to learn I highly recommend starting here!

Mack Schlitz: 😲

Alexa Blanc: This is a great music school, I had a fantastic experience learning from Pricilla. The environment is welcoming and a nice place to be.

Charles Guan: My 7 year old is having a wonderful experience so far taking piano lessons from teacher, Sisi Fani. Sisi has extensive training in music education and has been a joy for my daughter to learn from. Her approach is very kind, friendly, and gentle focusing on creating enjoyment in playing. Each lesson has been very well structured and paced. The recommended piano book has great songs with fun interactive features. Sisi definitely takes the time to build trust with each of her students and gets to know them. The building itself is very inviting and well curated. A great place to learn music. I would highly recommend the St Paul School of Music, especially Sisi for piano lessons.

Amy Stenftenagel: , he’ll be booked!Thank you so much, Drew!

Frankie D: What I like the most about my lessons with Rick is his easy going nature. Friendly, yet efficient with his time management during my lessons. I feel like going home and playing guitar for a couple more hours after spending just a short period of time with him and that's why I personally take lessons, to be inspired as well as taught. I always leave with tabs or notes or licks or whatever we've been working on also documented on paper so that when I go to play the following day I have it in front of me for a quick refresher if needed. And for the record, just because he's a easy going guy and relates well to his students doesn't mean he can't play! I say "what about this song or that song" and he either knows it off of the top of his head or 10 seconds listening on YouTube and he has it so he can then show me how to play it. I feel like he has an authentic interest in my development and progress and I can assure you from previous lesson elsewhere that this is definitely not always the case. I look forward to growing as a guitarist at the St Paul School of Music and would encourage anyone to try a handful of lessons to see what I'm talking about. I think you'll see/feel it too!

Ann Osendorf: Love this place. Good teachers. Great location. Dustin is a talented musician—very kind and patient with his young students.

Dongjay Lee: Rick helped me a lot with not only learning the techniques of guitar, but also every excitement of songs that I play each week, background of it and much more. He helped me to learning guitar is enjoyable and fun experience. He is super nice and great teacher who can tailor your skills, no matter what level you are, Rick will find great plan to improve your skills. 1000% highly recommended.

Aaron Gesmer: Enrolling at the St. Paul School of Music has truly changed my life forever. Before starting lessons with Rick, I was a “self-taught” guitar player who kinda knew some tricks here and there and could play some songs, and I had been doing this for several years. It can be daunting and overwhelming navigating the world of learning guitar, but I can gladly say that in the short 3 months since I’ve started, I’ve improved so much! Rick does such an awesome job of gauging where to start in his curriculum, and I love how much he has expanded my taste in music. I cannot recommend St. Paul School of Music enough, I’m so excited to continue learning and practicing with Rick!

Amy Thompson: This place is amazing. I cannot more highly recommend St. Paul School of Music! I don't know how I landed on the two most skilled teachers in the Twin Cities, but Rick on guitar, and Pricilla for voice lessons has changed my musical landscape forever. I've been singing all my life and playing guitar for 20 years - I wasn't sure what lessons would give me but I took a chance. So many new doors in me have already opened musically, and that's just after a few weeks. If you're looking to get started in music, or have been at it a while and not sure lessons are for you - take this nudge: DO IT! This place is an absolute gem, and the people make it that way. Thanks SPSM!

Robin Guerrero: My 8 year old daughter is taking piano lessons at St Paul School of Music and we have been extremely impressed with the quality of instruction and overall studio experience. We recently started guitar lessons and they have been very flexible in allowing us to try it out and see if it’s a good fit. I’m so happy we found this school.

Maia Ellenburg: My experience at the St. Paul School of Music has been nothing short of excellent. My instructor, Rick Stack, has been awesome to learn from. In addition to being very talented and knowledgable, Rick is very adaptive and accomodating in his approach to teaching. I would recommend this school to anyone interested and passionate about learning music - it is a great place to grow.

Will Stein: Extremely happy with our experience at St. Paul School of Music for guitar lessons for our kids. Rick is always responsive and helpful when there are questions. The teachers were fun and patient and tailored lessons to where our kids were currently at, in terms of skill/experience level. A wonderful local business, growing a love for playing music in our community!

Nick Reyes: I've been taking guitar lessons with Drew for about 6 months now. I've always had a great experience and feel welcomed, even as an adult learner. I highly recommend checking the school out. All the teachers are great!

Jim Harney: Great studios and instructors. Both daughters have taken piano and one just started guitar and they have had a great experience.

Rachelika's Art: Me myself teaching Kids Art Classes - Drawing Instructions for Kids ages 4-15 for many years at this school. I love working and teaching at this school. :

Adam Lindberg: We have been taking our student to Kramer for over 7 years and continue to enjoy the personalized instruction and attention provided!

Xiurong Tang: My son has been taking piano and music theory lessons at Kramer’s for the past 8 years, and we had a wonderful experience. His teacher, Ms. Iara, has been taught him heartfully and helped him to learn many advanced skills. She has spent extra hours helping him perfect his playing style and technique. She helped him to prepare for many recitals and exams. Her commitment and love for teaching students is evident. We also love and enjoy Ms. Iara’s piano playing, which is so beautiful and flawless. This school has a good learning environment and is a good place to take music lessons. It holds many recitals which are good for students performance. It arranges the students to attend MMTA’s Exams so that know their achievements and ranking places. We are very pleased with this school and would recommend Kramer’s to anyone searching for a music school.

Malushua Griffith: My daughter has been playing for eight months and she sounds like she’s been playing for 2 years! Eleonora is a great teacher with years of experience and we are fortunate to have her as a piano teacher. What we love about her school is that the students are held accountable to practice for their recitals every quarter and they receive trophies and small gifts for their efforts.

Ioana V Pribiag: Our son started here several months ago and it has been wonderful. Tracy Kucherov is his instructor and she is just amazing - so kind and patient while still keeping our son's big energy under control, with impressive pedagogical skills and all kinds of tricks to keep him focused and motivated. Minnesota School Of Music: what do users think?

Tyler Stanley: My kids are officially rock stars. MN School of Music is a top-notch program that is invaluable to the community. My daughter was 7 when she started learning the drums with Mr. Martin over a year ago, and we are looking forward to her playing Gold Lion by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs for her first recital. I was so impressed with the staff that I started my son on the guitar with Mr. Nelson. Now, both my kids play Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes at home. As a professional teacher, I saw my kids struggle with school after the pandemic. After enrolling them with MNSOM, I have seen tremendous growth in confidence toward their school work and sense of creativity. Thank you, Eric, for what you have built.

Jennifer Zafke: We have been attending Minnesota School of Music for a month now, from a recommendation from a friend whose kids attend there as well. I am highly impressed at the level of patience shown, the positive praise, and meeting each kid where they are at. My kids have learned so much in a short time and it’s definitely sparked their love of music! Thanks Eric for all you do!

Laura Christopher: My daughter has been coming to Mn school of Music for about 6 months and we love it. She is 14 and her teacher is fabulous. House of Note: what do users think?

Shawn Oldham: Amazing staff!! Very helpful! And no pressure tactics

Erik Tietz: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff!

Rebecca Cameron: Always great service.

Mark Hatlestad: Wonderful repair and repairs at a reasonable price!

Jeff Mittelmark: House of Note provides wonderful customer service. I bought a violin from them a couple of years ago and got a great instrument, especially for the price. Over time I needed this and that done to it and Ingrid was always very generous with her time and advice. Then the other day I brought it in to see if they could improve the wolf tone that I was getting on my C note on the d string. Almost all instruments have it to some extent, and I just wanted to see if they could make it better. I left my violin with them for a couple of days, during which time Nick worked on it and put in a heavier sound post. Because I had bought the violin from them they charged me very little for what I suspect was a fair amount of work. Now my violin plays better than ever. It's more responsive and, on all levels, sounds even better than it did. I'm very excited about my violin, and I really appreciate the service House of Note consistently has provided since I first bought it.

Dawn Anderson: Third generation of wonderful experience: just had a fabulous time with trying out new instruments at House of Note. I have been a fan and client since 1971 for myself, in the 90's and 2000's when my children were young, and now for my grandson in 2023. Bravo! to Ingrid for her joyful and patient service.

Eden Ehm: I discovered House of Note by Googling violin shops near where I would be staying. House of Note was close by, got good reviews, and was able to commit to completing the rehairs during the few days time I'd be in town. I'm so glad I found this shop; I will be back! The shop itself was incredibly neat, clean, and tidy and everyone I interacted with was very friendly, helpful, and unpretentious. I can recommend this shop for everyone from beginners to professionals! Great all around!

Laura Wagner: Awesome and easy to get what you need for your children in orchestra

k m: The staff were very attentive. The catered to our price range and we had a lot of fun. We came home with a violin that is just right for us!

Emily Ward-Anderson: Wonderful, kind, and experienced staff. They are helpful to everyone- from brand new musicians to the most experienced.

Cheng Wan: Have been their customer for more than 4 years. Renting, purchase, tuning, replacement, I am pretty sastisfied with all their reliable service.

Susan Ramlet: This is a great place in the area for string instruments for students. There are no hard sales, and they will patiently explain everything to you, presenting you options based on your budget and what your needs are. We have outfitted both an elementary and an adult student here. The staff are knowledgeable and skilled.

Jaime Johnson: Five stars to the House of Note and the owner, Jeff Anderson. Recently Jeff helped me sell, on commission, my beautiful, professional level violin. Through-out the process he was attentive, responded to my calls and emails, provided a letter of agreement and documented everything promptly. At no point did I feel insecure about the safety of my instrument or the integrity of Jeff and the House of Note. As a string educator and professional performer I highly recommend this business for all of your string playing needs, from rentals to purchase to selling.

Sara Clementson: Recently rented a cello from this lovely store. The staff was more than helpful, informative, and kind. The instruments are beautiful. Both times I visited the small store, it was busy with customers. A wonderful place to rent or purchase a string instrument.

Icehouse: what do users think?

Drake Friesen: Awesome concert venue

Jessica Husted: Such a great date place. The ambiance is romantic. The lights are dim and the music is great. The food came out very quickly. We had the cauliflower appetizer, which was great. The beet salad was DELICIOUS! The chimichuri steak was good but had very little chimichuri. Potatoes with the steak were boring.I would definitely recommend this for a date night.
