Anne Plowman: My experience with Anthony's furniture has been great! Dawn at Anthony's actually came to my house and picked up my great grandfather's dresser which had several problems that were getting worse with use. Which is great because my compact car would not be capable of transporting it. During that time, Anthony's was flexible with me as my father had passed away during the window of repair time. I just wish he was alive to see the how the piece looks now. It was one of great importance to him. When I visited the repair shop to see the dresser, it looked better than I've ever seen it. Anthony's uses marine epoxy to garuntee their work for life, so it can last another 100+ years. Perhaps my great grand children will inherit this piece because of the great work Anthony's has done. When the work was done, Dawn delivered the piece back to our house and I was surprised to see she had hired movers as well to ensure that the piece stayed in excellent condition. I was just pleasantly surprised I didn't have to lift anything! The dresser is in now and looks great. Superior customer service and craftsmanship. I will definitely be back for repairs on my other antique treasures.

Caitlyn Peltier: As someone of the younger generation I struggled to find a good place in the Twin Cities area to get two old trunks restored that I received from my family. Both trunks were in very poor shape when I got them especially with one being about 100 years old. When I initially spoke with Daren, he was very professional and helpful explaining to me what he thought would need to be done to them based on the photo's I sent to him. This helped put some of my concerns at ease as I have never needed a restorer before. And when I finally got to see the trunks for the first time I couldn’t have been happier. Daren was able to make them look like the trunks had actually been cared for over the years and brought back so many small details that were not even noticeable before he worked on them. I would highly recommend his work because he as made these pieces into things that I can hopefully pass down to future generations.

The chair has a caned back and seat, which Daren does not handle, but he referred me to a craftsman who could. Daren removed the back and seat for the caning work, then reassembled and refurbished the chair. In addition to making the chair usable for many future generations, the result is beautiful!

I found a used, beefy table with a lifting lid, but the mechanism needed to be reversed so she could access the drawers while seated. James quoted me a reasonable price and had it ready by the end of the week. They even fixed some scratches on the table top at no extra charge. The table functions well, looks great and will provide my sister with a stable support -- well done!

From the moment we walked in with our well-loved, definitely well worn rocking chair to the day we left with the beautifully restored family heirloom, we were treated with kindness and given ample options and time to make the decisions we needed as a family to make sure our chair was restored with the respect it deserved. Only a true craftsman can take a piece as old as this was and as worn as this and take 3 people's input and visions and turn that into a work of art able to take your breath away. This chair is at least 50 years old and from New England. That is all we know. It was passed down in the family. If anyone knows of where it might have came from please contact us! In the meantime, use Ackerman's for anything you need restored. They put their heart into their work!

Lena Montez: We have a electronic recliner, bought a year ago. The wood frame set up on this gave out, cracked and a total bust. Chris had this totally breakdown to replace woodbrackets support on frame replaced. He had this done in 2 days. He was very personal and and reasonably priced. Recliner works like new. We're very relieved that this could be repaired, we had our doubts lol. Happy, Happy😊 😃!!!

Lots of time and energy went into the selection and then, it didn’t fit exactly right in the room so she had to buy another piece - more time shopping- that matched more suitably which ultimately led to the next and the next! Every time you get a new piece of furniture the size becomes an issue in the room.We discovered Chris at The Furniture Specialists on a friend’s recommendation and had one chair redone. My wife picked the fabric and showed it to me at half time during a Vikings game. Two thumbs up.Chris picked up the chair and returned it a few days later looking new with an updated upholstery and fitting the room’s foot print as perfectly as before, for about half the price of new chairSince then. We have had three rooms of furniture redone by The Furniture Specialist plus a leather car seat he did for a nominal fee as a favor, I suppose for being a good customer. All of it exceeding our expectations.It’s saved me unimaginable time, headaches and money!Now, if only the Vikings can win a Super Bowl!

Daniel Albing: I was looking around for help re-upholstering my dining room chairs. I wanted to do it myself but had a bunch of questions after I took apart one of the chairs. I brought just the foam from the old seat, and started talking through my project with them. These folks were INCREDIBLY helpful!They described how to make the seat bottom more solid. They helped with foam choice and had me sit on a couple samples. They then custom cut all six foam pieces while I waited there talking to another employee about fabric choices. She described everything I needed to know about fabric, and even pointed me towards their “remnants” bin in case there were any deals there that looked good to me.After all was said and done, I got foam and fabric for 6 big dining chairs for about $400. I also got the confidence from these guys to do the project myself. I just finished today, and it wasn’t too bad. They don’t look perfect, but they’re way better than they would have been without help!Their shop looked busy upholstering furniture and what looked like a car seat maybe? They were super knowledgeable and very helpful. Well definitely do business here again!

Kelly O'Kane: I first learned of A-1 Foam & Upholstery from a professional interior designer who recommended them. Since that time, I have used them for both foam and upholstery and recommended them to friends as well. Several years ago, they completely redid cushions and covers for a sofa and chairs I thought could not be saved, and they still look great to this day. They have a large selection of fabrics to choose from in their showroom as well. And I have always found everyone who works there to be helpful, friendly, and professional.

He took the time to briefly educate me on the densities & lifespan of the various foams so I could make an informed decision. Their pricing was good and they delivered on time. The whole staff is knowledgeable, friendly and was engaged in helping me. The cushions are beautiful and the sofa looks brand new. They also had a wide selection of fabrics in house. This was an excellent experience!
