Bryan Mack: Best shop so far - I’ve had birds for 30 years across five cities, and Parrot Island is the best. If every business modeled themselves after PI, the world would be in a better place. There is no disposable plastic garbage or mass-produced “food” here. Every item is ethically made/sourced, and the owner KNOWS his stuff.
Megan Trainor: They have a huge variety of toys, food and everything bird. The quality of the seed is very good but have your wallet ready because its almost $50 for 4lbs. It is quality but I think it's still to high. Lots of profit there.

I am a newish owner of a white capped pionus parrot, and he has given me an awesome vet referral and great suggestions on toys, food, etc. I bought a couple of java branches from this store that are the perfect fit for my parrot. It is worth spending the extra money in-person, as there is no guarantee what kind of tree/branches you'll be getting when you order them online. Everything there is ethically sourced, well researched, so consider it money well spent when buying his products.So grateful for Parrot Island!

FS: Just an incredible store if you own a bird! Store is run by knowledge aviary veterinarian which makes it worth a visit just to ask questions about caring for your bird. Its always a pleasure to visit the store!

Jillian Ledy: I recently put up a window bird feeder at my apartment and was looking to get some more bird items to entice more birds to visit and this store had everything I was looking for! The store was well organized and the staff were kind and helpful! Nice selection of bird seed, feeders, baths, etc. I even picked up a few fun items such as sun catchers, cards, and a Minnesota guide book. They also had some free info sheets at the register. I ended up getting the membership as well because I know I’ll be back!!!

Anna S.: Best pet store around! I was so excited to finally try a new pet store and one that's more of a small business. I'm SO impressed! I had questions regarding raw/ freeze-dried food with cats/dogs. Linda was extremely helpful in proving all the information I needed to feel comfortable about what I was feeding my fur babies. $70 of stuff actually got much better stuff than you would get at a petco or a petsmart. All the staff there is beyond friendly. This will now be my normal pet store!
Jordan McKee: If I could give 100000 stars I would! I was walking my very nervous dog in and happened to see Linda in the parking lot. She say that my dog, Keegan, was hesitant to walk in. She let me know they had reactive dog time when we could come after closing or in the morning so he could be alone. It felt like fate to meet her!We immediately scheduled and Linda reached out with instructions. Keegan loved it to say the least! Sometimes because he is a nervous dog he doesn’t get all the fun experiences of other dogs but Linda went beyond out of the way to help. Keegan was running around having an amazing time, we for sure will come back and recommend to everyone!Beyond the amazing customer service, they have the perfect toys and things you can’t find elsewhere. We try to get a lot of strong and interactive toys and they have an abundance. Also healthy treats and a wide selection of plushies. We will be back and everyone should go!

Castaway Family email: very helpful staff and the dogwash is cheap also you can get everything here. I have guinea pigs a bird and a dog family members and we get everything they need here. One of their staff its an older gentleman who also does the nail trimming even possibly saved our guinea pigs by letting us know that you can not use cedar bedding for guinea pigs as it causes respiratory issues and we never knew that and unfortunately have been using it. So thank you Sir for the helpful advice.

Quentin Misiag: One of my all-time favorite dog gear and pet supply stores! While I no longer live in Minneapolis, I regularly shop here on return trips to the area. Staff are incredibly helpful and my dog, Bear, loves his blue outdoor coat from CoPilot. Will be a lifelong shopper and supporter.
Marge Koepsell: On a whim, I asked about certain products for behaviors I’ve noticed with my dog. Paige answered every single one with knowledgeable answers. Not did she have ideas for relevant products, but how to use them.
Jack Johnson: Best pet shop. Excellent product curation, kind staff. Totally worth going here for all pet needs and paying the premium to shop local.

Carissa Kloncz: I stopped in on Small Business Saturday and WOW was I impressed with the assortment of toys, treats, coats, life jackets, leashes, dog-training toys, puzzle toys, lick-mats, holiday-themed toys, etc! These were quality items from good brands and reasonable pricing. The shop is cute and the owner is helpful! I buy a lot of treat-holding puzzle toys for my dog, and Co-Pilot had such a large selection of them, many I had looked at online but didn't want to buy without seeing in person, or was overwhelmed trying to find the actual brand and not some amazon fake brand knock-off where you don't know if the materials are safe for dogs. I bought a teether ball puzzle that my dog is currently loving. I live out of state and am sad I can't frequent more regularly. Highly recommend to all dog-owners!

I loved the serene bird sounds music playing too, and the t shirts they sell for fans of their store cat. Sadly, I didn’t get to meet the cat this time but I’ll be back.
Greg Pyke: I needed gear to hang our first birdhouse properly and the folks at WBU in Highland Park were great. Not only the perfect hanger but a ring to protect the opening from predators. Now we await two fashion forward birds; my grandson is very happy. If you agree that knowledge, courtesy and friendly attitude make a better “shop local” experience try this place.

Martha Burton: If anyone wants to get hyped about bird feeding strategies and supplies, we can highly recommend Frank at Wild Birds Unlimited on Ford Parkway. We spent almost an hour with him, learning the ins and outs of various seeds, equipment management, local bird varieties and migrations, changing climates, places to visit across MN for great birdwatching, great places to take someone new to MN, and we did it in English AND German. Frank almost forgot to sell us anything 🤣 Can’t wait to go back next weekend with our progress report on our backyard setup for Frank!
