Found A LOT of stuff I wasn't expecting, even some old rare books from my childhood that I never thought I'd come across again. That was a sweet surprise. This place is brimming with books everywhere, so get ready to dive in when you get here. It's a lot of fun!

Jack was working the day I was there, he was amazing, informative and answered all my questions and told me a few facts about what was in the store. The vast inventory is in a word brilliant. Give your self a treat & some time to go to this book store you won't be sorry and I can guarantee you will keep going back. You have adventures to read about to bring surprise to your mind and fill your imagination .

Wolves1fan: Don't let any negative reviews deter you I've seen on here negative things said about the owner at the fronts attitude sometimes he is a very nice guy when you get to know him he deals with a lot of ruff raff at the store from transients and others due to location but he keeps the store safe and trust me if you like rare books and comics you could easily spend half a day here I've spents hours looking through books and the owner was nice enough to get stuff from the back for me to check out life this place

Dave Peterson: A favorite since my childhood. You never know what you will find there

Jerril Proffer: Found an old out of print book that I had been looking for. Ordered it that evening, and they shipped it the next day. James & Mary Laurie Bookseller: what do users think?

Nish Andran: This is one of those bookstores that you go to if you're looking for rarer non-fiction books. They have some fiction and common stuff too, but specialize in hardcovers, rare prints, and first edition non-fictions. As someone who loathes the average bookstores that have small selections of run of the mill non-fiction books, this place was a treat!

Carlos Figari: Small antique book store. Posters and maps are scattered around, some on the floor.

Gavin Matts: i had quite an incredible shop at this bookstore. it’s such a wonderful archive and i feel better about everything for having visited.

Lisa Schaffer-Harris: Huge selection of used, old and rare books.

Ho Ly: Awesome gem of a book store!

Laura Kennedy Gilman: Great selection, fair prices, wonderful people

John Mueller: Jim has been a good friend for more than 20 years and I often go just to visitBut it must be remembered that he is an expert in antiquarian books in general and has a very good selection of books, vinyl and maps and prints to choose from. Plus he can find just about anything he doesn't have in the store. He is a nationally known expert in the field and I couldn't be more positive in recommending Jim and the store to anyone looking for a specific book or record. It is a dynamite store!

Jeezus Beezus: Amazing store, stunning. The taller owner was prejudiced n thought I was stealing books tho even with the receipt sitting on top of them. The shorter owner was absolutely lovely.

Jared Morton: Impressive store. A lot of inventory, mostly in old or collectible editions. Very good customer service.

Brian: Wide variety of books. A lot of first editions. Friendly staff.

Magers & Quinn Booksellers: what do users think?

Terry J: Wow! Great selection and even better staff. I ordered two books online for in-store pickup. There was some confusion as to the whereabouts of book #2 but the store clerk made it her mission to find it long after I had resigned to not getting the book this day. Well, she succeeded. Do NOT buy on Amazon. Support independent booksellers. You get more than just great literature. You get passionate, helpful humans.

Tiko Lieou: Great to have this independent bookstore in the neighborhood. With so many businesses closing in Uptown, glad to see they're still doing pretty well. It's nice they seem to always have a weekly author event. Big plus for being dog friendly with treats at the front.

Miranda Montes: I love this shop! I am new to the area and happened to walk past and check it out. They have a large selection of both new and used books, along with gifts and stationery. The staff was so helpful. They helped me find a used copy of a book I was looking for at a great price. I've been back since my first visit, and am sure I will be back many times in the future. For a perfect little 'self care' treat on a weekday I highly suggest stopping in and picking up a new book and then making your way over to Kim's a couple of doors down for a happy hour drink while you start your new book.

Will P: An uptown landmark and a Minneapolis destination for all book lovers and avid readers!

Terry O'Dell: Vast and extremely large bookstore in Minneapolis. Can get lost in the rows of books with many to choose from. Worth a stop if you're a book fan.

Andy Acker: Longtime fan of this bookstore: a lot of new and used books that are well- organized by section, and also laid out for the hungry mind that loves to explore ideas and find new things, rather than only what you're looking for. I hope they stay there forever.

Sean McStravick: Such a great store. Well curated selection of both new and used books and an awesome staff.

Devin Oglesbee: Outstanding service on a busy Saturday. Accidentally crossed paths with M&Q while enjoying a sunny weekend in Uptown. Asked for help with finding a paperback copy of The Boys in the Boat. Who knew that they had a “Sport Section?” The desk attendant was happy to help and knowledgeable.

Toni Knorr: Extremely helpful and kind staff. Great selection of books! The entire place gives a feeling that makes you want to browse for hours.

Sophina So: . I will not be selling here again.

Jonathan Heart: Hey, Magers & Quinn: I exclusively bike to your store. Ya hear? You're a great bookstore with great staff. But quit with the parking spots agenda. Sell books please.

Arthur Fermor: best bookstore

Halley Boesen: I've been buying books from this store for a long time. They have an excellent selection and great variety. Lots of very queer and very leftist content! Love it.

Tori Wensloff: great local bookstore! could wander for hours, great selection and very fun that they’re open late, you don’t see a lot of late night bookstores. i keep coming back!

Josephine Morris: I absolutely adore this bookstore. I first discovered it a couple of years ago, and keep coming back for more. They have an extremely wide collection of books, puzzle, notebooks, ect. There really is something for everyone here. The feeling of walking into Magers and Quinn is wonderful and doesn't compare to a large chain like Barns N' Noble. Support your local indie bookstores!

The Book House in Dinkytown: what do users think?

Harry Weisenborn: amazing selection, very reasonably prices

Tovin Sannes-Venhuizen (Tovin): Greatly enjoyed my visit to this bookstore, the staff was wonderfully helpful in helping me attempt to find a few specific books and the books were reasonably priced. I was especially happy with the large Natural History and Ecology section.I was amused by the sorting of the books meant for readers with perhaps questionable tastes, where the four sections were sorted into “Smut / Filth / Sleaze / Erotica”One common theme i’ve noticed in many small bookstores is the prevalence of communist literature, while I do not necessarily disagree with it, it’s an interesting trend between stores. Would’ve enjoyed talking to the staff about their opinions but ran out of time, perhaps on my next visit.Free books on cart in street, enjoyed browsing them as well.

Halley Boesen: 🍉❤ Amazing bookstore with so much queer and political history. Chill atmosphere, friendly staff, and fair prices! They also have graphic novels, comics, local zines, and a free zine library right when you walk in!

Em Christie: The Book House in Dinkytown is like a TARDIS - it’s bigger on the inside! What looked like a small shop revealed a maze of stacked shelves, all clearly labeled and organized, so finding what I was looking for was easy peasy. The staff were helpful and friendly. And IT SMELLS FANTASTIC in there. That book smell - gets ya every time!

Jim Miller: Today was my very first visit. I should have been there long time ago. I was impressed by the selection and quality of chess books. More importantly, I was impressed by the kindess and helpfulness of the bookseller. He was very polite even before opening the store! I felt like I was visiting family: very welcome. I loved the cozy atmosphere of the store. Put another way, if I could give The Book House five HUNDRED stars, it would make my grade more accurate. Thank you.

David Behsman: This is a fantastic book store! I was pleasantly surprised at the great selection. The prices are very fair as well.

April Gentling: Been here a couple of times. Such a cute lil place. Love going in and looking around. It feels like a maze!! Super fun and the people there are very helpful.

Lilly: Absolutely love this little bookstore. They have a unique selection that caters to nearly anybody and at such good prices. Store owners are kind. I could sit in this place all day, everyday.

Emily Feicht: We love the sheer number of non fiction books and foreign language works! Classics and newer works are widely available. Lots of hard covers, even before discussing the rare books. There's a rewards program and periodic sales by genre. It's well traveled with lots of stock turnover.

Erika J. Worley: Walls of books!!!!!!

jon hinton: Wonderful little book store.

Camille McCallum: The Book House in Dinkytown is an absolute treasure trove for book enthusiasts! This vintage bookstore is a hidden gem in Minneapolis, boasting an impressive collection that includes rare first editions, signed copies, and collector's editions. The variety across genres is extensive, ensuring there's something for every literary taste. The charm of discovering hidden literary gems adds an exciting element to the browsing experience. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness enhance the overall atmosphere, making each visit a delightful journey through literary history. If you're a book lover seeking unique finds, The Book House in Dinkytown is a must-visit destination, earning it a well-deserved five stars!

Patrick Merz: Great bookstore. Nice little record section, too.

Brett Roberts: This was a great find in the Twin Cities for used books. They have a wide selection of topics and friendly staff.

Dave Campbell: Great independently owned bookstore with a wide variety. Staff are very knowledgeable and welcoming.

Will P: A cool little bookstore in Northeast Minneapolis. Definitely worth a visit for any bookworm or avid reader. Birchbark Books & Native Arts: what do users think?

Emilia: This bookstore is really beautiful and has a great selection of both native and non-native authors. There are also an assortment of handmade gifts that are clearly made with care. Kyle Herberg: Fun store with a great selection of books and other gifts.

Jade: I bought a book online and it came a week earlier than they estimated! Support native-owned businesses!!!

Linda Wabanimkee: My second visit to this amazing bookstore. I came away with four books, three were Native American authors and a card, postcard, a couple of bookmarks. I also order online. Stopped in here while we visited Minneapolis.

Kara Kelso, Commercial Real Estate Consultant: . This shop has an amazing selection of Indigenous books — it was so hard to choose what to get! Oh, and the confessional from The Sentence is in the shop which is great. I am really looking forward to coming back to this shop.

Gerald Friest: My wife and I have bought several books from Birchbark Books over the last couple of years. We also received a wonderful recommendation from a staff person about a series of youth books that our granddaughter has reread several times. The staff are always friendly.

Tracey Messner: Fun bookstore.

Katie Hansen: Incredibly kind and knowledgable staff amongst a well-planned collection of stories and information. I only wish I lived closer to visit more often. ❤️

Jacob Lynch August: The employees always have great suggestions.

Andy Bobandy: Nice bookstore. Leans a little to far into the "alternative lifestyle" stuff for me, but it's still a great little bookstore.

Angie E: Well read staff! Love used and new options!

Carly St.Martin-Norburg: Great independent bookstore. They have a small section of used books for a reduced price.

Paperback Exchange: what do users think?

Dan Vogel: So much for so little

Will P: What an amazing and welcoming bookstore! It’s so nice to be greeted in a genuine fashion by someone who is interested in their customers. This is a charming little shop absolutely packed with paperbacks. It’s definitely worth a visit!

Kennedy Kell: Fun store with a wide variety of books and friendly staff!

Jim Blackwood: This cozy little store has a wide variety of books. It is fun to stop in and look around. I always leave with five or six books

marla einck: I love funky little unique places, and the Paperback Exchange was a gem I was delighted to find. I visit my son and his family in Minneapolis about once a month and like to take long walks near the lakes while I'm there. The PE will be one of my walking destinations from now on. I am a fan of recycled books and was lucky enough to find three of the books on my 2024 book club list. Their discount pricing is a bonus. If you bring in used books to exchange, you get a larger discount on their new and used books that you purchase. The sales associate made the shopping exoeriece even more fun. NOTE: Katty corner across Penn and 50th is also a consignment clothing store. Double score!!!

Clayton Haapala: Fun bookstore, had more current inventory than expected. They were able to look up inventory for us and we found what we were looking for.

Logan V.: and give you that for in-store credit. Explaining this further, this means if I give them a 10 dollar book they will give me 10 dollars in credit. I can then pick a book for 10 dollars

Andre Wells: They are simply the bestBetter than all the rest!!!

Eli Johnson: What a great used book store! I live nearby and come in anytime i have a hankering for something. Don’t let their modest retail windowfront fool you; the store stretches deep and they have a lot of stuff. And it has that fabulous iconic “old book” smell, which in today’s world, seems to be a bygone thing.

Eric Karn: They were the only book shop in town willing to order me a rare English book. That was 10 years ago and I've been shopping with them ever since. Friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, affordable, I love paperback exchange!

Archiva: The best bookstore in the world.

Diane Sanso: was super helpful and gave some great info, too. If we ever get back to MSP, we'll go there first!

Ary Lu: My favorite local bookstore :3

Salma: Cute bookstore!!! I couldn’t really find good books here but nevertheless I enjoyed my visit.
